This event will recognize individuals who organized events across America, the UK and South Korea. Our leaders worked to educate adults and GenZs about the urgency to promote Non Violence, to Strengthen Families, to promote Voting Rights and Provide  Opportunities as Alternatives.  This is a free virtual event.

Gloria Yesterday, President Biden gave a speech in Philadelphia where he acknowledged the all out assault on voting rights we have experienced since the “Big Lie” began - and as some states work tirelessly to implement Jim Crow-era voter suppression laws. President Biden reaffirmed his commitment to restore voting rights. But a commitment is not enough when the stakes are this high. We need a strategy. In his 20 minute speech the President never mentioned the filibuster once, despite the massive threat it poses to voting rights and other key legislation. The Biden administration has already used its power to push massive pieces of legislation, such as pandemic relief and infrastructure spending packages. We’re calling on the President to put that same power and momentum behind TRULY protecting our voting rights by working to pass HR1 and HR4 by any means - even if it means ending the Senate filibuster. SIGN THE PETITION TO STOP THE SUPREME COURT FROM DESTROYING BLACK VOTING RIGHTS

Hello All:

We are in the 50th anniversary year of the voting rights act being passed by President Lyndon Baines Johnson, and simultaneously dealing with a feckless subprime court that has been instrumental in trying to gut it and render it useless.

Somehow or other it appears as though we think this is going to be rectified by some mysterious, heroic "others" who are going to come to our rescue, riding in or a horse or a Harley like some kind of comic book super hero and save us from the big bad racists who continue to try to undermine our progress.  Somehow or other we appear to believe that now these things can be handled via remote control and other non-action actions, while we sit back and look cerebral, cool and disgusted.

Well, guess what - we got the first bill passed through hands on activities and in your fact protocols - and that's exactly what we have to do this time around as well. 

Power concedes nothing without a struggle - it never has and it never will.  Yes we can post petitions and get them signed - in fact that's an excellent idea.  But once we've submitted our petition, it's time to take action; stand toe to toe, nose to nose, face to face; eyeball to eyeball - staring them down and letting them know that we're mad as hell and we're not going to take their b.s.  anymore!!! - And we're moving forward with what we know and what we have, as well as inventing those things that need to be brought to bear to dismantle their system.

That said,  I'm forwarding a copy of a petition that is being circulated so that you may copy it, sign it, forward a blank to one or several of your friends.  It's high time we registered in on this bit of chicanery and let them know that we aren't going to take this garbage any more.  

And make no mistake about it - it is definitely our right to vote, but it is also our RESPONSIBILITY TO VOTE AS WELL - and let no one convince us that this is optional or not important.  If it wasn't they wouldn't be working so hard to try and usurp it and destroy our capacity to participate and have a say in who runs this country.  Protect your rights - sign up and show up.

Hello All:

I just started a group on MSNBC Speak Out Site for ECLECTICALLY BLACK PEOPLE - to lodge our opinions in reference to issues governing repuglycon attacks against President Obama, Voting Rights,  Race, the 2014 Election, and a myriad of other concerns that don't seem to be getting a lot of currency in the Black community.  

I am asking that you join the group and comment whenever you come across issues and news items that are of concern to us as Eclectically Black People - that is, Black people regardless of whether you're from Africa, the Caribbean, the US, South America, Asia, Europe, France, Russia, etc.  Or if you are of mixed heritage.  Eclectically Black people represent the culmination of the highest and best of who we are as a people - and our opinions are important.  

But please, despite the fact that the repuglycons are a bunch of thugs and mean us no good, keep the language clean while saying what you feel.  It's an open forum for us - so much of the commentary has been dominated by hostile repuglycon teabaggers - or obscured by other groups that may or may not represent our concerns and opinions.  

Hopefully this will provide us the avenue to express who we are and what we think in a manner that will have greater impact on the meanstream media.
