EMERGENCY POST!! ELECT DEMOCRATIC WOMEN WARNS OF POST OFFICE CLOSURES BEFORE INAUGURATION - WE MUST STOP THIS

By Gloria DULAN-Wilson
Hello All

HABARI GANI -  KUUMBA DAY 6 OF KWANZAA
- KUUMBA = CREATIVITY

7 months ago, after T-rump threatened to dismantle the USPS, I created a petition entitled "Hands Off The USPS "- and enlisted the assistance of MoveOn to help promulgate it, along with FACEBook, and other organizations.   But it went absolutely nowhere.
Ironically, today, December 31, I receive this "CLOSURE NOTICE FOR 19143 POST OFFICE" which happens to be my zip code.
Interesting , isn't it?
We all know that T-rump and his henchmen have been tampering with the USPS dismantling the sorters, furloughing postal workers, dragging out delivery schedules.
BELOW is a petition to save our postal service plus a request for donation.  Issues which could have been averted had the entities involved kept their promise to support our efforts to save the entire postal system.  It is clear now that they did little or nothing to support the petition; but the real responsibility rests with us to protect the goods, services and institutions in our communities need,
So please sign the petition - and also make sure you reach out to your elected officials and demand that they protect our postal services from closing down.  Now that we've rid ourselves of T-rump we should not have to be forced into suffering from his demented policies and assault on our country.

NOW THAT YOU KNOW
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

At Elect Democratic Women we know that Congress cannot and will not address the urgent needs of women and their families without equal representation. We support Democratic women running for office nationwide. But if you'd like to receive fewer emails, Click Here. Or if you'd like to unsubscribe, Click Here.
CLOSURE NOTICE FOR 19143 POST OFFICE
GLORIA -- Donald Trump is on track to defund the Post Office before Inauguration Day!

If we don’t take action immediately, every single Post Office across the country will close before Joe Biden and Kamala Harris step foot in the White House. INCLUDING 19143's Post Office!!

We’re joining forces with Democrats across the country to SAVE the Post Office, and we need to raise $15,000 by MIDNIGHT!
GLORIA, please, if you care about saving the Post Office, then chip in $5 NOW >>
RUSH A $5 DONATION TO SAVE THE POST OFFICE >>

$100
$250
Other
The Post Office is such a sacred institution, so it’s hard to wrap our heads around it being completely destroyed!

But that’s EXACTLY what will happen to it if Trump gets his way.
It’s all a part of Trump’s evil scheme:
  1. DEFUND the Post Office before Inauguration Day.
  2. Get REVENGE on the Post Office for delivering mail-in ballots.
  3. Wreak HAVOC on everything we hold dear. NO!!!
Look -- Trump is a wrecking ball set to DESTROY everything in his path. Don’t let him get away with it! Chip in $5 NOW to save the Post Office >>
CHIP IN $5 NOW >>
CHIP IN $35 NOW >>
CHIP IN $50 NOW >>
CHIP IN $100 NOW >>
CHIP IN $250 NOW >>
Or donate another amount >>
GLORIA, we don’t want to worry you.
But it will be IMPOSSIBLE to elect Demcoratic women in the next election if Trump closes the Post Office.
Vote-by-mail will be ABOLISHED. Voter turnout to elect Democratic women will nosedive!
So we REFUSE to let Trump sell the Post Office for parts to his corporate cronies before he leaves office.
Listen -- we need to act FAST. If we don’t receive a WAVE of donations by MIDNIGHT, Trump will have every single Post Office shut down before Inauguration Day. Chip in $5 NOW >>

Thank you for supporting Elect Democratic Women. Our organization was formed by a group of Democratic Congresswomen who understood that Congress cannot and will not address the urgent needs of women and their families without equal representation in Congress.

We’re committed to electing more pro-choice Democratic women to Congress. Republicans are rapidly chipping away women’s rights, so the stakes and the urgency could not be higher.

LIAR IN CHIEF TRYING TO INVESTIGATE PRESIDENT OBAMA - SIGN THE PETITION TO STOP THE MADNESS

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Hello All!!

Well the blowhard in chief is now trying to cast aspersions on President Obama to deflect from his own bogus lying shortcoming swindling track record!! LOL

I'm sure that if he pays enough liars, he'll come up with someone who'll give a fake testimony.  It's what he does. It's like the electoral - or should I say selectoral college - give enough money and patriotism can be purchased at a premium.  Making deals with the devil to obtain his own nefarious ends is what t-rump does best - but his hands have been repeatedly caught in the cookie jar, so now he's trying to place blame in other areas.

My word to the rest of congress - what's left of it since the repuglycon onslaught  - do not let this prevent you from doing an in-depth, no holds barred, up and down, through and through investigation of t-rump and Putin and how they conspired to screw Americans by skewing the election.  And when you find out that what the rest of us know to be true, is reality, kick him, his vp, and the rest of his sorry cabinet out and put the righteous president in - HILLARY CLINTON.

Regardless of who certified it, if the presidency was obtained under treacherous and bogus circumstances, then the perpetrators are all traitors and must be punished accordingly.  That means all of them - ALL OF THEM!  The presidency cannot be handed  by default to the ersatz VP, because he got in under the same bogus means as the ersatz president.  They all must go!!  The attempt to overthrow the American Government by screwing and skewing the votes is treason - do I need to say it again?

And don't drag your feet in getting the investigation under way, either.  This must be dealt with immediately, if not sooner!!  I'm saying this to my fellow Democrats - petitions are good, but petitions alone is not going to get the job done.  Americans have to demand to know and you have to push for the investigation to commence NOW!!! Enough with the shilly-shallying - This is not a party line issue any more - this is American People being ripped off, disrespected, disfranchised.

Like I said, petitions alone will not get the job done, but petitions do help.  I'm posting this from the DCCC that you must sign.  Here's what you need to do:

MAKE A COPY AND FORWARD IT TO FRIENDS AND ASSOCIATES
SIGN THE ORIGINAL AND EMAIL IT BACK
REPEAT, REPEAT, REPEAT
WE MUST FLOOD THEM AND LET THEM KNOW THAT WE ARE NOT ASLEEP AT THE SWITCH, THAT WE WILL NOT BE BAMBOOZLED AND B.S'd AND WE ARE OF ONE ACCORD AND ON THE CASE.

BREAKING: Republicans plan to investigate Trump’s false claims that Obama wiretapped him

SIGN YOUR NAME: Condemn the Republican attacks on President Obama >>

President Trump claimed that President Obama illegally tapped his phones during the election -- with NO evidence.

And now Republicans in Congress say they’ll investigate President Obama over it!

We must stand against these reckless accusations.

SIGN YOUR NAME: Denounce the Republican attacks on President Obama >>

NAME:
Petition Signature: SIGN ON >>

Sign Your Name >>

We’re speechless.

FIRST: President Trump, the creator of the birther lie, insisted that President Obama illegally tapped his phone during the election -- with ZERO proof.

THEN: Republicans fell in line with Trump and continued to spread his lies.

NOW: House Republicans say they’ll investigate Trump’s ridiculous claims!!!

It’s absolutely ludicrous that Republicans are even entertaining this idea.

We refuse to let President Trump and his Republicans continue to spew absurd lies about President Obama.

Will you sign on and stand against the Republican attacks on President Obama?

ADD YOUR NAME: Stand with President Obama and denounce the Republicans’ lies >>

Thanks,

SEPTA ON STRIKE? RIDERS MUST STRIKE BACK - MOBILIZE VANS TO WORK AND TO THE POLLS - PHILLY WILL NOT LOSE!!!

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson
Hello All:

Phildelphians are being hamstrung by their own transit system - SEPTA, which is the acronym for South Eastern Pennyslvania Transportation Authority.  Now, interestingly enough, not all of SEPTA is striking - just the bus and subway operators that "service" the local communities.

It appears that the Regional Rail portion of SEPTA that primarily services Non-Black communities, are not on strike.  Now isn't that special???

This means that the prime target is Philadelphia and Philadelphians, which, by some strange coincidence, is 68% Black, primarily comprised of working poor who are dependent on SEPTA to get them to and from work, and their children to and from school.

And of course, being the largest in population, Philadelphia is prime for putting Hillary over the top in much the same way they did twice for President Obama.

Does anyone smell a rat here?

In most metropolitan areas, these kinds of strikes are not allowed because of the impact they have on the populous - so why is this being allowed to happen in Philadelphia.  Police, Fire department, Hospital Care and mass transit are essential services - where is the State in dealing with this problem?

Image result for septa strike

Why is it that the union can selectively designate who they are and are not going to strike against?  If it had shut down the entire SEPTA (or is it  SEPTIC?) system, I guarantee you that the federal government would have stepped in and slapped an injunction and a 90 day cooling off period on them so fast it would have made your head swim.  There would have been mandatory arbitration imposed on both sides!!1

And, I don't buy the "working conditions" and "benefits"argument from the SEPTA workers either.  Having won the APTA award in 2012 and 13 - American Public Transit Award - given to the best run, most efficient (a laugh) transportation system in an urban area, I don't think they really have a leg to stand on.

Riders are being gouged by fares that are actually higher than those in New York City. The SEPTA subway system - The Market Street EL and The Broad Street Line - don't even run 24 hours, except on weekends, with shuttle buses taking over from approximately 1:00 AM til 5:00 AM; and there are some buses in the system that are so slow that they should provide a couch, tea and a TV to make the 30 to 40 minute wait worth your while.  Yes, you could actually watch an entire show by the time the buses that do run on time show up; and God help you on those lines (like the 16 and the 43) that take forever to show up and are almost always crowded when they do.

Phildadelphians cannot afford to take a wait and see attitude in the light of this situation, and have to be pro active - not only for getting back and forth to work, but also for making sure that those who need transportation to and from the polls on Tuesday, November 8 are not stranded.
Image result for septa strike

So I'm recommending that the wonderful churches that populate the Philadelphia communities, press their Church Vans into action to help people get to and from the polls.  Additionally, those school buses that are not being utilized during school hours after 9:00 AM, night also be called into service.

Philly should put SEPTA on notice that when they go low and try to deprive the people, the people go high and work around them.  You cannot, must not and will not allow them to steal your power, your right to vote, your capacity to get to and form your job or place of business.

You cannot and will not allow them to single you out as the victim while the rest of Pennsylvania continues to enjoy the convenience of their Regional Rail System.

Contact your local churches, as well as citizen volunteers - and put together an ANTI-SEPTA Transit system - If you work together you can accomplish anything.  If you allow yourself to be manipulated by them, you will continue to lose.  Other organizations are consolidating their efforts, there's no reason why those in the northern reaches of Philadelphia's predominantly African American neighborhoods cannot do the same (check out this link:  http://6abc.com/traffic/penn-drexel-chop-partner-for-septa-strike-plan/1581833/ ).  This affects us all - and we should make it our business to pull together.

And for those Senior Citizens and folks with limited mobility, it was announced at a Town Hall Meeting headed by State Representative Stephen Kinsey and City Councilwoman Cindy Bass, that you may vote using the ABSENTEE BALLOT - so that you do not lose your opportunity or right to have your voice heard and your vote  count.

And make no mistake about it - YOUR VOTE COUNTS - and of course, since this is my blog, I'm standing for HILLARY CLINTON, DWIGHT EVANS, KATIE McGINTY, etc.  You cannot afford to blow this opportunity.

At this time - a week before the election, we have sufficient opportunity to rally these resources so that Philly does not come up short in the polls.  It's up to us all to make their efforts to gouge and undermine the election and the people of Philadelphia fail.   There are shuttle buses being made available in Center City - it's time those in the Olney Transportation Center, Fern Rock, 69th Street, and other areas  that access to transportation.  If you need absentee ballots, contact your local state representative, or SETH BLUSTEIN  - Deputy Commissioner, to have them delivered to your Church, Senior Citizens Center, senior residences and other areas - they will deliver them, and personally pick them up from you to make sure they are counted.

The bottom line to this message is this:  YOU ARE IN CHARGE, THIS IS YOUR CITY, YOU HAVE RIGHTS THAT NEED TO BE RESPECTED - DON'T LET ANY ONE RIP YOU OFF.

STAY BLESSED &
ECLECTICALLY BLACK

Gloria

Opening Reception for Moe Brooker: Shorthand For The Real
View this email in your browser

Moe Brooker, artist and former professor of art at Parsons School of Design, PAFA, Cleveland Institute of Art and Moore College of Art and Design, wanted to paint the joyous and the spiritual aspects of African American life but felt figurative painting did not provide the symbols. Thus his successful move to abstraction. Influenced by both graffiti and music, particularly jazz, both improvisational art forms where options are chosen in the moment, where spontaneity is instantaneous and the music conjures colors. Come witness the vibrancy and energy contained in these masterworks.

The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd
September 22, 2016, 2016 at 5:45
Location: Double Tree Standng O at Broad & Locust

From the celebrated author of The Secret Life of Bees, a #1 New York Times bestselling novel about two unforgettable American women.

Hetty "Handful" Grimke, an urban slave in early nineteenth century Charleston, yearns for life beyond the suffocating walls that enclose her within the wealthy Grimke household. The Grimke's daughter, Sarah, has known from an early age she is meant to do something large in the world, but she is hemmed in by the limits imposed on women.
.
This exquisitely written novel is a triumph of storytelling that looks with unswerving eyes at a devastating wound in American history, through women whose struggles for liberation, empowerment, and expression will leave no reader unmoved.

WASHINGTON, DC

SEPTEMBER 14 - 18 CONGRESSIONAL BLACK CAUCUS
46th ANNUAL LEGISLATIVE CAUCUS WEEKEND

The CBCF Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) is the leading policy conference on issues impacting African Americans and the global black community. Thought leaders, legislators and concerned citizens engage on economic development, civil and social justice, public health and education issues. More than 9,000 people attend 70 public policy forums and much more. Join subject experts, industry leaders, elected officials and citizen activists to explore today’s issues from an African-American perspective.

This marks my 31st year of covering the Congressional Black Caucus - and it is an honor and a privilege to be among so many Black people dedicated to and focused on the future of Black people here in America, Africa and across the Diaspora.

Black educators would do well to organize field trips for their students so that they can see - first hand - their legislators and how much they really do work for our interests, despite the overlay of a repuglycon based rapacious congress.

CBCF To Honor Cicely Tyson, Richard Roundtree and Dionne Warwick with Lifetime Achievement Awards at
20th Annual Celebration of Leadership in the Fine Arts
Ceremony Also Presents Next Generation Artists

WASHINGTON—The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Incorporated (CBCF) announced that legendary actors Cicely Tyson, Richard Roundtree, and music icon Dionne Warwick will accept awards for their lifetime achievements in the arts during the 20th Annual Celebration of Leadership in the Fine Arts. The awards ceremony, which will take place Sept. 14 at the Sidney Harman Hall, 610 F Street NW in Washington, D.C. from 8:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., is organized in cooperation with the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Spouses Visual and Performance Arts Scholarship program. This event will mark the start of the CBCF’s 46th Annual Legislative Conference (ALC), one of the nation’s leading public policy conferences.

“With a lifetime of entertaining and educating us, this year’s honorees have also distinguished themselves as remarkable leaders and passionate advocates for the arts and arts education,” said CBCF president and CEO A. Shuanise Washington. “Their outstanding contributions and continuing commitment to the arts make them ideal to help elevate the visibility of the CBC Spouses Visual and Performance Arts Scholarship Program. The awards are conferred on artists whose legacy includes not only extraordinary works but a commitment to cultivating future generations of artists.”
