EMERGENCY EVENT ALERT TO ALL PENNSYLVANIANS: TUESDAY, MAY 17 (TOMORROW) IS MIDTERM PRIMARY DAY IN THE STATE - MAKE SURE YOU GET OUT AND VOTE

By Gloria DULAN-Wilson
Hello All

VOTE MAY 17 MIDTERMS -

VOTE MAY 17 MIDTERMS -

VOTE MAY 17 MIDTERMS

NOTE: TOMORROW, TUESDAY, MAY 17 IS MIDTERM PRIMARY ELECTIONS THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA - SO I'M GOING TO GRANT YOU A ONE-TIME PERMISSION TO SKIP ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE CANDIDATES LISTINGS AND READ THAT FIRST BEFORE YOU READ THE BEGINNING OF THIS ARTICLE.  IS THAT OKAY WITH YOU?

SKIP ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE PART THAT SAYS "YOU DIDN'T ASK ME, BUT I'M ENDORSING THE FOLLOWING!" Read the candidates info, vote accordingly, then resume reading all the information i've provided below:

Okay, so here we are - the day before the day of the primary MIDTERM ELECTIONS in Pennsylvania!! And you are all poised and ready to do the right thing - get out there and let your voices be heard - so that we can send the right people to office to represent us for the next 2, 4, 6 years!  RIGHT!?!

WE have a job to do, and we know how to do it, we're gonna do it, so that we don't have to revert back to the  bad old days of lunacy at the hands of the henchmen of the ersatz former "president" - aka Orange Faced Fool (OFF) miscreant, racist reprobates, who are looking to transform America into sort of automaton Neo-nazi backwash country.

Here in Pennsylvania, a record number of voters requested mail in votes!  However, the trick is whether or not those were "completed properly;" and if not, whether or not those who mailed in their votes were notified in a timely manner so that they could either, (1) redo the mail in ballot and get it to a drop box; or (2) get to the polls on May 17 and vote in person.

The fact that there are so many Pennsylvania voters who allegedly didn't complete their ballots appropriately seems a little extreme to me - as in "lies you tell."  It appears that the repuglycons might be up to their dirty tricks again, trying to make it appear that as may as 2/3rs of the voters are somehow feckless to the point they can't follow simple instructions, and therefore somehow managed to totally screw it up - some 537,000 out of 835,000 who mailed in their votes, and are now not going to be counted.

Again, lies you tell!!! If the number is that high, then it is up to Pennsylvania to either give them replacement ballots and allow them an additional week to get it done and mailed off correctly; or allow them an extra day to vote at the polls.  It's clear that if there is that many margin for errors on a mail in ballot, the ballot and the instructions are obviously not prepared in a manner that is understandable by all who use it.  I am, of course, assuming the problem are a result of the machinations of the repuglycon party - in which case the Democrats in Pennsylvania must not allow them to get away with it - regardless of how long it takes.  If, on the other hand, this major glitch is the result of some incompetence on the part of the Democrats - what the sam hill is wrong with you - please get it rectified immediately - if not sooner.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer:

"So far, 3 out of 5 mail ballots — nearly 537,000 in all — have been returned

Nearly 537,000 mail ballots have already been returned.

That’s more than 60% of the more than 885,000 ballots that voters requested, according to data released Friday by the Pennsylvania Department of State, which oversees elections.

A strong partisan divide in the vote method continues, with registered Democrats requesting more than three times as many ballots as Republicans.

A strong partisan divide in the vote method continues, with registered Democrats requesting more than three times as many ballots as Republicans.

Mail ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. Tuesday, when polls close. Postmarks don’t count, so elections officials urge voters to return their ballots as soon as possible — mail delivery can take a few days, meaning ballots returned by mail at this point run the risk of arriving after the deadline.

Voters can ensure timely delivery by hand-delivering their ballots to their county elections office or a mail ballot drop box.

State law requires voters to return only their own ballot, except in the case of disabled voters who authorize someone to deliver their ballots. (The issue of third-party ballot delivery — what Republicans call “ballot harvesting” — has become a contentious political issue, and even Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf has mistakenly crossed that line.)

Once a ballot has been returned, voters can use the state’s ballot tracker to see when it has been marked as received. There can be a several days when they start to pile up, though, so just because your ballot hasn’t been marked doesn’t mean it hasn’t yet been received.

Basically, as the article says, most of the placing ballot boxes were in predominately white and asian areas during the 2020 election, which essentially means that you have to make sure there are boxes in your area, your votes are counted and  your rights are not violated - and that you are not disqualified for bogus reasons.

It's as important as who you vote for, because we want to end the habit of people sitting out the MID TERM ELECTIONS as though they are not as important as he presidential that comes around every 4 years.  Our local, MID TERM ELECTIONS are extremely vital, and spell out what the president who is the current incumbent is able to accomplishe during the balance of his  remaining time in office!!! Make no mistake about it!  If we don't get this right, we'll face the same problems we faced when we didn't come out for the MIDTERMS OF 2010, AND 2014 - which rendered Obama's administration helpless to get things done, and cost us a Supreme Court Justice because the repuglycons outnumbered the Democrats.

We let the orange faced fool become ersatz president because no one put their feet down and called the 2016 elections a sham and a scam.  But we got it together by 2018 - basically because he had done so much harm by that time, to have allowed him to go any further would have been an act of masochism and stupidity all rolled into one.

We backed it up in 2020 when we elected Joe Biden president - and believe me, he's doing a damned sight better job than T-rump ever did - so don't let the propaganda and meanstream media fool you.

Now we are in the MidTerms of 2022 - and if we don't get out and defend our incumbents, and out vote the repuglycons, we run the horrific risk of returning a megalomaniacal fool to power - and plunging the country into darker days then even Nazi Germany endured.

Does it sound somewhat extreme to posit it in such a manner?? - NO!! - I wish I could yell even louder.  By now it should be patently clear that there is nothing they wouldn't stoop to doing to deprive you of your rights.  They're doing it right under your very noses.  And, while voting is not going to end it completely, it's a part of our arsenal - our tool box - to make sure we don't end up in a fascist regime with powermad individuals driving Black people back into racist segregationistic lifestyles - pre-60s, perhaps even back as far as jimcrow and slavery combined.

So

GET OUT THERE TOMORROW, MAY 17, 2022

AND

VOTE VOTE VOTE BLUE -

NO MATTER WHO!!!

You didn't ask me, but I'm endorsing the following:

Josh Shapiro (Democrat)

In Pennsylvania, the lieutenant governor does not run on a shared ticket with the governor, so the candidates don’t officially pair up as running mates since they’ll appear on the ballot separately.

Austin Davis (Democrat) - Pa. lieutenant governor  (The LG’s job includes presiding over the Pa. Senate and chairing the Board of Pardons - are just some of the many responsibilities he has - we want to make sure we have someone in that position that understands the needs of Philadelphians - as well as Pennsylvanians statewide.)

Conor Lamb (Democrat) - U.S. SENATE (We must replace Toomey (Guys if we mess this up and don't get Lamb in, there is something seriously wrong with us!! So don't sleep this opportunity to get someone in to the US Senate who will work diligently on our behalf!!)

DWIGHT EVANS - CONGRESS - 3rd CD

(Dwight Evans went into Congress and rolled up his sleeves and has been making great things happen for Philly - we need to have him there to continue the good work!)

Brendan Boyle - CONGRESS - 2nd CD

State Reps

ANTHONY WILLIAMS - PA STATE SENATE - 8th District (I'm endorsing Tony Williams because he's done a fine job, and also because I was appalled at the way Prescodd's campaigners tried to smear him by falsely saying he was with the ersatz former president!! An insult and a lie! This makes Prescodd someone not to be trusted)

Sajda Blackwell (Democrat) - 10th District  (new 10th District which includes Walnut Hill, Belmont, Mill Creek, Mantua, parts of Logan Square, Powelton, and parts of Cobbs Creek.  She is a wife, a mother, a youth mentor, and a community organizer, who co-founded Blackwell Culture Alliance Inc which feeds over 2000 families a month, and the organizer of B.C.A. Actionist, one of the only active Town Watch Groups in the city of Philadelphia taking a stand against Gun Violence.)

STEPHEN KINSEY - PA STATE REPRESENTATIVE - 201st District

Anthony Bellman - 203rd District

There are others who are running unopposed - but that doesn't mean that you don't have to vote for them on the ballot.  I sometimes wonder how Philadelphia has any representation at all. I've seen such low numbers in the past that it's embarrassing - but I hope that now that you've had a taste of what happens when a pseudo dictator takes over the country and tries to destroy democracy, you'll totally understand that ALL VOTES COUNT,  there is absolutely NO SUCH THING AS NEUTRAL! - that NOT TO DECIDE IS TO DECIDE against your own best interests; and to SIT IT OUT, or SITTING ON THE SIDELINES IS IRRESPONSIBLE, IGNORANT, AND TAKES AWAY YOUR RIGHTS ALTOGETHER!

SO VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

PENNSYLVANIA'S MAY 17TH Primary is only the preliminary - ONLY HALF THE JOB!

You then have to bring it home in November and make sure that all along the way you are building up the strength and participation necessary to keep PENNSYLVANIA BLUE!!  There are so many things that are going to rely on your vote now and in the future - including RE-ESTABLISHING OUR RIGHT TO VOTE, AND A WOMAN'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE - among other things.

Let's not squander our opportunities, rights and responsibilities by sitting on the sidelines and hoping someone else will do our job for us!

GUEST POST: Going All Out for Voter Registation

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Hello All:

I just received this from Diane Powell of Black Women for Positive Change, and I'm sharing it with you, because we have to be hands on, and all in in making sure we all vote in this upcoming election:

LAUNCHING ‘THE CAMPAIGN FOR POWER’!!

The O. V. Catto Voter Empowerment Initiative from Philadelphia is calling upon volunteers across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to join a campaign to mobilize people of color in the state, in order to launch a non-partisan Voter Registration / Voter Protection effort. The alliance of Faith Community Leaders  (Pastors and their congregations), Community Based Organizations, Voter Advocacy Groups, Labor Organizations and Grassroots Activists  are sponsoring this initiative

The Alliance will work to increase voter registration and prepare the electorate to Vote by Mail, well before the cut-off date, so that all votes are counted, We will support each other in voter registration and voter protection activities. Pastors will encourage their congregants to volunteer to get folks to register to vote on-line or by mail.

Volunteers (especially attorneys) will be recruited through https:\\ovcattoinitiative.org . Those volunteers will be trained in voting rights and PA Election Law to protect Black and Brown voters from voter intimidation and voter suppression leading into November 3, 2020. The Initiative is targeting 18 municipalities in sixteen different PA counties where Black and Brown people are concentrated. For more information go to   https:\\ovcattoinitiative.org

Please ask churches that you have influence with to participate in this initiative.  They should send their name address, phone, email and contact person to me, and I will forward it to the Catto Initiative for followup.    Also if you know anyone who wants to volunteer please let me know.

With appreciation

Diane Powell
Black Women for Positive Change

Our Mission

The 2020 O.V. Catto Voter Empowerment Initiative is an all-volunteer effort to increase voter registration and Election Day turnout, among people of color, in Pennsylvania. The Initiative has targeted eighteen jurisdictions within sixteen counties in the Commonwealth where communities of color are underrepresented in that county’s electorate. The participants in the Initiative include the Faith Community, Civic Organizations, Labor Organizations, Sororities and Fraternities, Community Based Organizations, Voting Rights Advocacy Groups, and others.
The campaign for greater civic participation and voter empowerment consists of a series of coordinated efforts to conduct non-partisan voter registration activities at locations in Municipalities, Townships and Boroughs that have demonstrated traditionally low voter participation rates. Church sponsored activities seem most favored activities because of the role played by the Faith Community in the everyday lives of the poor, underemployed and citizens of color.  Labor organizations and advocacy groups for workers’ rights also identify readily with voting and civic engagement and are engaged with their constituents on a daily basis. Post-secondary student populations are encouraged to join the O.V. Catto Voter Empowerment Initiative.

The Catto Initiative field operations, volunteers will coordinate communications and track the progress of voter registration by county, in the sixteen targeted jurisdictions.  Use of Online Voter Registration, in Pennsylvania, is encouraged as the quickest and most direct method of voter registration. Traditional Mail-In Voter Registration Applications will be utilized, based on availability, through local County Commissioners Offices and County Voter Services offices. The Catto Initiative will assist every participating organization in getting the materials and the technical assistance required, to build a non-partisan, voter registration and election protection campaign that reflects the goal of increased voter participation, by people of color, in Pennsylvania communities. We through the utilization of trained volunteers, provide the Logistical Expertise & Tactical Management for the coordinated campaign in the designated target areas.

Our History

The Catto Initiative is dedicated to Octavius Valentine Catto, a famed voting rights advocate and martyr. Mr. Catto was assassinated on Election Day in 1871 while encouraging Black men to go to the polls and vote in Philadelphia. He was one of the first documented martyrs for voting rights, but not the last. It is in Mr. Catto’s honor that we work to further his mission now and for years to come. This Initiative has operated since 1982 within the networks of grassroots activism in Pennsylvania and other areas of the United States. Our coordinated Voter Protection Campaign joined with other national and Commonwealth allies in 2012.

Our Convener

The Catto Initiative is convened by an experienced soldier of the Movement for Black Empowerment. He was awarded and presented the name and rank of Jemadari by a national leadership cadre and has served, on the People’s Business as a Commander, for more than three decades. Jemadari provides tactical expertise oftentimes required in executing effective voter protection.
“November 3, 2020 is when voters in the U.S. electorate will make their decision about who will guide the functions of our government. We will not allow our voices to be excluded, silenced, or suppressed in the electoral process.” – Jemadari

It is for the good of the Nation that every element of its population be wisely instructed in the advantages of a *Republican Government, that every element of its people, mingled though they be, shall have a true and intelligent conception of the allegiance due to the established powers.
Octavius Valentine Catto,
From Address to the Institute for Colored Youth, May 10, 1864
