HEY PHILADELPHIA - MAYORAL PRIMARY IN MAY 16: MAKE SURE YOU VOTE FOR CHERELLE PARKER FOR MAYOR OF PHILADELPHIA

By Gloria DULAN-Wilson
Hello All!!

Hey Philadelphia!
I just heard something that really knocked the wind out of me.  There was a statistic that claims that 39% of Philadelphians are undecided, and not interested in the upcoming Mayoral Election.
Worse yet, many, according to the polls Philadelphians plan to sit it out because they don't think Philadelphia's Mayoral Election 2023 is as important as the presidential election coming up in 2024.
GTFOH!

After all we went through in 2022, how could you have forgotten so soon?
Remember BLACK VOTES MATTER? REMEMBER BLACK PRIMARIES MATTER?
YOU DID A FANTASTIC JOB AND MADE IT HAPPEN IN 2022!
HOW COULD YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN IN 2023?  COULD IT BE AMNESIA?

It's frightening to think that Philadelphians may have already forgotten what it took for us to win in both the Senate and for Governor - Remember how MAGA Maggot rightwing nuts were trying to confuse us with posers who only pretended to live in Pennsylvania.

Remember how you turned out for MIDTERM 2022? -  YOU WERE AMAZING!!

Well we need you to do it again and VOTE FOR CHERELLE PARKER  FOR PHILLY MAYOR 2023!!!

History in the Making: Me with Future Mayor of Philly Cherelle Parker and Pennsylvania Governor, Josh Shapiro

On Wednesday, April 26 I was listening to WURD's Black Women's Leadership Council's broadcast.  They were talking about the upcoming PHILADELPHIA MAYORAL PRIMARY ELECTION -  which takes place on Tuesday, May 16.  Special guest Commissioner Omar Sabir was discussing the upcoming mayoral election and said that people were not really "excited" about it.  EXCITED?  SERIOUSLY?? I couldn't believe my ears.  Sometimes I wonder what planet some Philadelphians are on. This is not a 76rs or EAGLES or PHILLIES Game!  This is for the heart and soul and redemption of Philadelphia.

Commissioner Sabir said that because we didn't have the same sort of ballyhoo we had for the previous candidates and all the letters reminded them that BLACK MIDTERM VOTES MATTER, people began to think the election was no big deal!  (BTW TO COMMISSIONER SABIR and all his fellow commissioners, the Committee of 70, etc., time to step up and make it a full court press like you did in 2022 - like right now - What are you waiting for?)

WOW!
I hope that's not true Philly!  I hope you haven't gone into a comatose state, and plan to sit out this Primary Election

AS WITH THE NATIONAL and MIDTERMS ELECTIONS,  BLACK PHILADELPHIA MIDTERMS VOTERS COUNT - BIG TIME~~

SO, JUST TO DISABUSE YOU OF THIS ASSUMPTION, LET ME SAY THIS ABOUT THIS;  WTFU PHILADELPHIA!!!

THE VERY FUTURE OF THE CITY IS NOW AT STAKE.

The City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection could very well end up in the back pocket of the greedy who are using us against  each other!!

YOU HAVE JEFF BROWN,  A GOOD OLD BOY TYPE, LOW KEY T-RUMP-LIKE  CANDIDATE WHO THINKS BECAUSE HE OWNS A CHAIN OF SUPERMARKETS, HE WOULD MAKE A GOOD MAYOR.  HE THINKS BECAUSE HE HAS 6,000 EMPLOYEES HE CAN NOW RUN AND ENTIRE CITY - in fact He just lost the endorsement of Philadelphia's Sanitation Department, who threw their support behind Cherelle Parker, after his insensitive remark "pick up the damn trash."

If history has taught us nothing else, it's definitely taught us not to do that again - T-runp, and before him, Reagan each took our country to the brink of destruction!  Yikes! Philadelphia could end up in the same boat.  Well you can look at the previous ersatz president who was all about business, and not about the people,  to see how insipid that choice would be.  T-rump used his dollars and wealth against America and for his own cronies - and the same may happen to Philly - when the millionaires get together, the rest of the community

You have Rebecca Rhynhart,  who used to work with former Mayor Michael Nutter - remember him? He increased the property taxes as the result of her advice, and closed 30 schools - including the famous Germantown High School which was just getting ready to celebrate its 100th anniversary - sending students and teachers scrambling to find other schools to attend or work in - Nutter endorsed her - so you already know what you can expect from her - more ignoring the Black constituents, as he did; more shash and burn in the already declining Black communities; more absence whenever key Black organizations come to Philadelphia - oh, you didn't know that when the Urban League, NAACP and other key Black advocacy groups were here in Philly, Nutter was conveniently elsewhere - you can expect the same from Rhynhart.   And Street? Seriously?  I find it seriously odd and off-putting when Black men don't back Black women - especially an extremely competent one. And I'm not even going to comment on Michael Coard not endorsing a competent Black Female Statesman - what's up with that?

When you compare Cherelle Parker's list of accomplishments to Alan Domb, Helen Gym, and Jeff Brown (oh wait!!  Brown has never held office or run a city before, and wants to practice on us - Well we don't need trial and error.  Or, as we experienced under T-rump, Trial and terror - using his money to manipulate things and people to do his bidding, while catering to his big business cronies - you get the picture - haven't we had enough of this already?  And Domb?

On the WURD Program, hosted by BLACK WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP COUNCIL, they mentioned that most Philadelphians said they didn't think the upcoming election for PHILADELPHIA'S NEXT MAYOR was a big thing because people weren't telemarketing to them; because nobody asked them to get out and vote.  Really - well let me take  care of this nonsense right now: BLACK PRIMARY MAYORAL VOTES MATTER!  ALL BLACK VOTES MATTER - AND ESPECIALLY YOUR BLACK VOTES MATTER!!  ADD TO THAT THE FACT THAT ALL VOTES MATTER - AND ANY VOTE YOU DON'T DO BECOMES A VOTE FOR THE OPPOSITE.

AND SINCE NO ONE HAS ASKED YOU FOR YOUR VOTE, LET ME DO SO NOW:

HELLO PHILLY - HOPE ALL IS WELL AND YOU HAVE A PLAN FOR YOUR VOTE!

MAY 16TH IS PRIMARY DAY - I AM ASKING YOU TO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU
VOTE FOR CHERELLE PARKER FOR MAYOR OF PHILADELPHIA

SHE HAS 30+ YEARS OF CIVIC AND COMMUNITY SERVICE.   She was on the City Council for five (5) years, served as  State Representative of Philadelphia for twenty (20) years.  Before that she worked as an intern with Marian Tasco.  She worked tirelessly for Philadelphia for over 30 years - making sure the state was giving you your due.  Making sure Philadelphia was well represented in Harrisburg.  Then she stepped down and became more locally hands on and was elected to the Philadelphia City Council - to be more in tune and involved with issues facing her immediate community, while at the same time, like any mom, wanting to be closer to and more hands on with her young son.  And over the past few years has passed more important legislation for the benefit of Philadelphia as a council member. Knowing her way around Harrisburg has clearly been beneficial to us in reference to her effectiveness in the Ninth Councilmanic district.

So here's the thing, Philly - if you want to get excited about something:  GET EXCITED ABOUT THE FACT THAT WHEN YOU ELECT CHERELLE PARKER AS THE NEXT MAYOR OF PHILADELPHIA YOU WILL BE GETTING THESE WONDERFUL QUALITIES AS SHE SETS A NEW STANDARD BY PUTTING PHILLY FIRST AND RAISING THE STANDARDS AND IMAGE OF PHILADELPHIA

Instead of Philadelphia being overrun by people coming in from other cities, pushing people out of their areas while they take over properites and gentrify time honored neighborhoods, Cherelle Parker will be working to PUT PHILADELPHIA FIRST WHILE RESTORING AND UPLIFTING NEIGHBORHOODS WITH POSITIVE, CREATIVE, COMMUNITY ORIENTED RENOVATION AND HOME OWNERSHIP PROGRAMS.  BRINGING JOBS, CAREERS, AND INDUSTRY BACK TO PHILADELPHIA.

Philadelphia was targeted for destruction in the early 70s when it was discovered that you were the most intelligent, affluent BLACK Majority City on the Eastern Seaboard.  Racist Repuglycons under the Reagan/Bush Administration, businesses and factories were deliberately closed in Philadelphia and sent overseas, causing high unemployment, closing of schools, businesses and families moving away to find jobs in other cities.  The target was to destabilize the burgeoning Black intelligent community.  And they did a pretty thorough job.

Now is the time to rebuild.  You've had years and years of not so benign neglect and deliberate deferred maintenance.  All that stops with Cherell!
Cherelle Parker has comprehensive plans to restore manufacturing and industrial opportunities, businesses, apprenticeships, and entrepreneurial programs to Philly and not only restore her to her previous glory, but to make it an even more spectacular city to live in.

ARE YOU GETTING EXCITED?

INSTEAD OF SCHOOL SYSTEMS THAT MERELY WAREHOUSE OUR CHILDREN, CHERELLE PARKER, WHO IS ALSO AN EDUCATOR, WILL FOSTER SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS THAT  PROVIDE THEM WITH QUALITY EDUCATION,  LIFE SKILLS; WITH FULL DAY PROGRESSIVE PROGRAMS THAT WILL ENHANCE OUR CHILDREN'S SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES SO THEY ARE AHEAD OF OTHERS - AND BY CULTIVATING THE TALENTS OF OUR YOUTH INSTEAD OF IGNORING THEM. AND ONCE AND FOR ALL ELIMINATING THE SCHOOL TO PRISON PIPELINE THAT HAS BECOME THE NORM IN BLACK SCHOOL SYSTEMS.
DID I HEAR SOMEONE SAY WOW!!

WANT EVEN MORE EXCITEMENT?:
CHERELLE PARKER WILL DEVELOP AND PARTICIPATE IN  COMPREHENSIVE, QUALITY NEIGHBORHOOD & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS THAT WILL WORK WITH HER AND HER ADMINISTRATION TO BEGIN TO TURN PHILADELPHIA'S MOST DEVASTATED AREAS INTO UPSTANDING NEIGHBORHOODS ADULTS AND CHILDREN WILL BE PROUD TO LIVE IN.

DID I JUST SEE YOU JUMP UP, CLAP AND DO A HAPPY DANCE?

Some have tried to use negative images against Cherelle Parker - the kind of racist stereotypes used to divide and destroy unity in the community.  They say she's loud - when what she really is is enthusiastic.  They deal with her skin tone being "too dark."  Seriously?  They say she's loud and angry - when what they are really seeing is passion and enthusiasm for the vision she has for Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA!  DON'T DRINK THE KOOL AID!! RACIST STEREOTYPES ARE BEING PUSHED ON US ABOUT CHERELLE PARKER VIA THE MEDIA and FAUX FOX NEWS -
We've been here before.  We know what it is!  We know about DIVIDE AND CONQUER which has been used against us very skillfully time and time again.

This time many of our own brothers and sisters with name recognition  are being paid to pit us against each other.  And while we follow them,  they are helping their behind the scenes puppet masters everything from us right under our noses.  You know how that works - one side is played against the other - pretending to be against one another - and we get caught up in the middle of their madness - they feed us lies on TV, on fliers, on radio shows, speeches and so-called debates - and while we follow popular names that we are familiar with - we spit our votes, and their real candidate wins.  They endorse an unlikely person, then tell us to stay away from our responsibility because the election is "rigged."  When we fall for it, the puppet candidate they really want gets into the office, and we end up back on the margins - or worse yet, completely pushed out of Philadelphia, convinced there is nothing left for us here (looking for that greener grass, while their people move in and take our neighborhoods for next to nothing..  And while we get pushed out, they take over what we have, improve it, gentrify it, and turn the entire community in which you were born and raised into a gentrifier's dream.  It's been happening over the last forty years -

But MAYOR CHERELLE PARKER WILL PUT A STOP TO REDLINING, NEIGHBORHOOD TAKE OVERS, GENTRIFICATION, AND DISPLACEMENT!

MAY 16 IS LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AWAY.

BUT I KNOW THAT  ALL THIS HAS REVVED UP YOUR ENTHUSIASM AND YOU CAN'T WAIT TO RUN TO THE POLLS  RIGHT NOW, INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR MAY 16TH, RIGHT?

WELL,  HERE'S EVEN MORE GOOD NEWS -
YOU CAN ACTUALLY GO TO CITY HALL AND VOTE EARLY TODAY, TOMORROW AND ALL NEXT WEEK!!
AND THOSE OF YOU WHO WANT TO VOTE BY MAIL HAVE TO MAKE YOUR REQUEST NOW IN ORDER TO GET YOUR VOTE IN BY MAY 9TH!

YAAAAY!  I
ISN'T THIS AWESOME??
NO MORE NONCHALANT PHILADELPHIA!   THIS IS ENERGIZED, ACTUALIZED WOKE PHILADELPHIA!!! RIGHT??

SO RIGHT NOW I AM GOING TO ASK YOU TO VOTE CHERELLE PARKER AS THE NEXT MAYOR OF PHILADELPHIA,

VOTE CHERELLE PARKER AS PHILADELPHIA'S FIRST BLACK FEMALE MAYOR

VOTE CHERELLE PARKER AS THE 100TH MAYOR OF PHILADELPHIA -

LET'S CONTINUE IN THE TRADITION OF PHILADELPHIA BEING IN THE FOREFRONT OF HISTORY:
BLACK PHILADELPHIANS WERE ABLE TO VOTE IN THE 1700s ACCORDING TO W.E.B.DuBOIS' The Philadelphia Negro (written in 1899); PHILADELPHIA WAS PART OF THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD;  PHILADELPHIA IS THE HOME OF PAUL ROBESON, KEVIN HART, MARIAN ANDERSON, CECIL B MOORE; ROBERT N.C. NIX, PRINCESS GRACE KELLY, PATTI LaBELLE, ETHEL WATERS, OCTAVIOUS CATTO, C. DELORES TUCKER,  LEON SULLIVANMAKING, TRUDI HAYNES, KENNY GAMBLE -  Among so many others.  PHILADELPHIA HAS MORE STREETS NAMED AFTER FAMOUS BLACK PEOPLE than any other city.

AND PHILADELPHIA IS ON THE BRINK OF MAKING  HISTORY AGAIN:   But history can cut two ways:  You can make history by being stuck on stupid, not reading the handwriting on the walls, not learning the lessons from the past, and going down in the dust by electing a T-rump look alike, or by not voting at all.  Or you can do the right thing and  elect  CHERELLE PARKER FOR THE NEXT MAYOR OF PHILADELPHIA AND WIN WITH A DYNAMIC, DETERMINED, DEVOTED, MAYOR.

SO WHICH HISTORY DO YOU CHOOSE PHILADELPHIA?

MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE EPIC HISTORY PHILADELPHIA BY VOTING FOR CHERELLE PARKER AS THE NEXT MAYOR OF PHILADELPHIA

And, just to give you more incentive, click on the link below to view a recent event Cherelle Parker  participated in at Community College of Philadelphia.  I taped it live - so if it's not Netflix Quality, I did it on purpose - plus I'm not totally computer savvy - so forgive me because I wanted to save the best for last.  Click here to Enjoy the video:

GDW EVENT ALERT: LINCOLN UNIVERSITY'S PHILADELPHIA ALUMNI Annual Tick Coleman Awards Luncheon May 15, 2021

By Gloria DULAN-Wilson

Hello All:

As a proud graduate of Lincoln University, I am so pleased that we have weathered the storm of the pandemic and are back on track for our Annual Tick Coleman Awards Luncheon.

Always a stellar affair, this year we are hosting it on May 15, 2021 instead of April.  It will be held  virtually, but will be no less entertaining and positive than it has been in the past.

We are inviting all to participate because the funds we raise are for the benefit of students who attend, or want to attend, Lincoln University, but are facing financial challenges.

We are truly hoping you will not only donate, but be on site for the event itself.

Dr. Frank "Tick" Coleman was a native Philadelphian who spent his entire life dedicated to education and youth.  He was once counselor to the late newscaster ED  BRADLEY, who was key anchorman on "60 MINUTES."

A proud graduate of Lincoln University, Tick served on many levels in Philadelphia, and, upon retiring, went back to be key enthusiast and voluntary recruiter of Students to Lincoln University.  Like so many others who have graduated from Lincoln U, Dr. Coleman's love for has inspired so many students to excel in their chosen fields.

Please share this invitation, purchase a ticket, support Lincoln University - the World's First Degree Granting HBCU - the mother of all HBCUs as we celebrate our 167th Anniversary, and honor a man who so loved Black students that he dedicated his life to its success.

As we carry his mission forward, we are likewise on a mission to ensure that our Black youth are blessed with a superior education and a successful and bright future!

TUESDAY, MAY 20th PHILLY GET OUT AND VOTE!!

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Wake up everybody!  If you're thinking this is just another Tuesday, then you're decidedly mistaken - especially if you are in any one of the six states that have primaries today.  Today you have to get up and exercise your RIGHT AND RESPONSIBILITY TO VOTE!

Don't act like you didn't know this day was coming - I've been writing about it and sending you messages since February - well really since 2010 when we collectively slept our rights away and let the majority we had fall into the hands of the repuglycons (republicans for those who don't make the connection) and the teabaggers (tea party).

It's time to take our rights back - and voting is one the means by which this can and must be accomplished - since not voting is how we lost them.  There can be no excuses.

They are hoping that you will be so brainwashed and disheartened and disgusted that you'll repeat the same mistake and sit this one out like you did the last time.  But not gonna happen.  Remember, Pennsylvania is currently under repuglycon domination, while Philadelphia is led by a Democratic mayor, Michael Nutter, many of the efforts he makes to serve the people are thwarted by this overlay.  Likewise, the representatives of the various communities are truncated in their capacity to provide the goods and services the people need and require.  This is the threshhold to turning this around.  And today is the beginning.

Philadelphians: Get up! Polls Open at 7:00AM and Close at 8:00 This is the primary, prelude to the general election which takes place on November 4. But we have to do this in order to get to that date.

Last night at the recently held ATAC (Avenge The Ancestors Coalition) meeting in Philly, Michael Coard reminded the nearly 150 participants that they had to get out and vote.   He gave his list of May 2014 Primary Election Endorsements, stating,  "Each year I compile a list of people that we should support.  You don't have to support them.  You may have your own choices.  These are people we have observed whose track records have been in support of Black people in the various communities, and I feel they deserve our backing.  We're not paid for these endorsements, nor would we accept payment for them...I don't care which party you're affiliated with, as long as you vote."

The following are the candidates endorsed by ATAC for the MAY 2014 PRIMARY ELECTION

Governor:
   ALYSON SCHWARTZ

Lieutenant Governor
   BRAD KOPLINSKI
