GUEST POST: Philadelphia Inquirer: Philadelphia mayor’s race sees a first public spar over race, privilege, and wages

By Gloria DULAN-Wilson

Hello All:

Well, now that we've gotten the MID TERM TO END ALL MID TERM Elections out of the way, Philadelphians can turn their attention to the election of the next mayor - and they're off to a roaring start, with 10 candidates crowing the field already!

As per the Philadelphia Inquirer, the gloves are already off between former State Representative and City Council Member, Cherelle Parker and Jeff Brown, owner of Shop Rite Supermarkets.  This is going to be an interesting campaign season, and Philly has a lot at stake - including the possibility of making history by electing their first Black Female Mayor in the personage of Ms. Parker.

Philadelphia mayor’s race sees a first public spar over race, privilege, and wages: https://www.inquirer.com/news/mayoral-candidates-forum-philadelphia-every-voice-every-vote-black-brown-businesses-20230117.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=news_alerts_01_17_2023&sfmc_id=0031U000025npRUQAY&sub_source=news-alert-newsletter&list_name=DE34_Newsletter_News_Alert&int_promo=newsletter&et_rid=626922958

Philadelphia has already set the trend for making history by electing John Fetterman and Josh Shapiro US Senator and Pennsylvania Governor respectively.  It is expected that they will continue in setting a progressive trend.

This will be a brief article.  I will, of course, be posting subsequent articles as things progress.  But in the interim - this is a message to all PHILADELPIANS:  If you have not already done so, makes sure you REGISTER SO YOU CAN VOTE IN THE UPCOMING PHILADELPHIA PRIMARY ELECTION  May 16, 2023.  There is so much at stake in the future of Philly, don't  blow your chance of having a say and making a choice for yourself, and the future of your children, family and your city.

If you don't vote, you've nothing to say.  Philadelphians made a critical difference in the 2022 Mid-Term Election -keep up the momentum!!
