With so much roiling around in the media and with Immigration about who is and who is not "legal" in the US, since T-Rump has gotten a stranglehold on America, it has become patently clear that the targeted people who have been living and working peacefully side by side with us for decades are now under serious threat.
Philadelphia has long been a sanctuary city, as has New York City and other progressive communities. In an effort to ensure that those targeted by these heinous and egregious measures are protected and know their rights, a free legal clinic is being presented this afternoon, sponsored by the Haitian Coalition of Philadelphia and AFRICOM - Coalition of African Communities.
I apologize that I did not receive this in a timely manner, but hope that those who see this will pass it on to those who need assistance. Don't sit on it - share it - the only way to ensure that we are all safe, well, happy and healthy is to resist tyranny in all its forms and be persistent in helping each other. We don't know when we'll be next - because under the present regime, no one is safe.

are taking to the streets of Washington, D.C. to demand justice on race,
climate change, and immigration.
Right now our political system is failing us, so we’re taking these
crises into our own hands. As the election ramps up, this is our chance
to demand REAL leadership and make candidates’ agendas work for our
movements, and for our future. Our message: We need political leaders with plans that are in
line with the imperatives of justice on race, climate change, and
immigration. Keep fossil fuels in the ground. Protect the lives
of black, brown, poor, and immigrant communities. Reinvest in healthy

As Alice In Wonderland famously said, "things are getting curiouser and curiouser...!" And indeed if you look at the reports on the news, you got to wonder where the intelligence and common sense in the DC Beltway went. Perhaps into the Potomac. It certainly does not exist in the law enforcement officers there.
Can you explain to me how you arrest legitimate protesters, including 8 Democratic members of Congress, for participating in a peaceful pro-immigration reform demonstration, while the insipid idiots who are members of the rep-ugh-blican and tea bagger parties, who have shut down the government -illegally, I might add - are allowed to walk around scott free.
If there was a threat that needed to be curtailed, it certainly should be recognized as those who are trying to overthrow the government, those who are holding the government hostage; those who have fecklessly frozen people's salaries while they twiddle their thumbs and play keep away.
Let's see these goons do their real duty. Want to score some brownie points? Go arrest Bone head Boehner and Cruz, and the rest of the crew for treason and attempts to overthrow the government; for reckless endangerment of innocent people's lives; for deprivation of the rights of American people. Where is the captain of this cockamamie DC (Dumb Cops) police department, anyway? Take his badge, and furlough him.

WASHINGTON (AP) — At least eight Democratic members of the
House were among about 200 people arrested Tuesday after they blocked a
main street near the Capitol during a massive rally seeking to push
Republicans to hold a vote on a stalled immigration reform bill.
Police
would not identify those arrested. Representatives of the social policy
organization Center for Community Change and The Associated Press
witnessed the arrests of Reps. John Lewis, D-Ga.; Luis Gutiérrez,
D-Ill.; Raúl Grijalva, D-Ariz.; Keith Ellison, D-Minn.; Joseph Crowley
and Charles Rangel, both D-N.Y.; Al Green, D-Texas; and Jan Schakowsky,
D-Ill.,
Representatives of other groups whose members attended the
rally, such as United Farm Workers and Farmworker Justice, confirmed
that several of their members were arrested as well.
Those
arrested will be charged with "crowding, obstructing and incommoding"
under the local laws of the District of Columbia, the Capitol Police
said. The arrests began about 4 p.m. EDT and had ended two hours later,
police said in a statement.
Before being arrested, Gutiérrez said
he planned the act of civil disobedience "so the speaker of the House
can free Congress and finally pass immigration reform."
The
rally took place after the six-time Grammy winners Los Tigres del Norte
performed at the National Mall during a show in which the Mexican band
dedicated each song to the estimated 11 million immigrants living in the
United States illegally.
Prospects for passage of a comprehensive
immigration bill appear dim. A bill passed by the Democratic-controlled
Senate and backed by the White House includes billions of dollars for
border security as well as a 13-year path to citizenship for those
already in the U.S. illegally.
It's unclear whether the
GOP-dominated House will ever pass legislation that could form the basis
for a final deal with the Senate. Most House Republicans have rejected
this comprehensive approach, and the House Judiciary Committee has moved
forward with individual, single-issue immigration bills that could come
to the floor sometime later this year or next.
What's so ludicrous is how one justifies these arrests as opposed to the arrests of the real perpetrators, who will, if gone unchecked, bring the government to a halt.
Arrest the Rep-ugh-blicans & Tea Baggers for Theft
The great thing is that President Barack Obama will not deal with anything that deprives the American people of their rights to Affordable Health Care, educational opportunity, decent affordable homes, and all the other guarantees that country claims to be about. The depraved indifference on the part of these rep-ugh-blicans towards their constituents indicates to me that in addition to the need for police intervention, perhaps more appropriately would be to have them psychoanalyzed to see if they're even fit to represent Americans. I frankly think that there should be immediate recall for those who show that they are really criminally insane flying under the guise of being responsible.
And for those of you who like horror stories and vampire TV shows/movies- you should make sure you go dressed as one of your favorite blood suckers from the rep-ugh-blican/tea bagger party: Boehner, Cruz, Bachmann -- take your pick.

Now that we've gotten the election of Letitia James as NYC Public Advocate out of the way, I can focus on other important events and concerns of impact on the Eclectically Black Community. Such as the newly formed Student Activist group, BAMN, which is an acronym for Brother Malcolm X's famous statement "By any means necessary."
They are forming a march on the subprime court (known to most as the supreme court, but the court hasn't been supreme for quite some time, now). They have correctly identified the subprime court as the basis for a lot of the current problems Americans are suffering from, and have decided to take them on.
I wholeheartedly and totally support them 100%. It's time the issue of term limits be seriously focused upon for the so called "justices" who have been anything but, and called them to task for the negative decisions that they've handed down that have had serious deleterious affects on the US in general, and on WE, The Eclectically Black People, in particular - the latest and most egregious of which has been the smacking down of the Voting Rights Act, while at the same time giving precedence over other issues that also combined to undermine the Black community.
I am proud to know that these youth have been active for quite some time, have been paying attention to the issues and problems, and are not going to sit idly by and allow things to go down like that.
When I received the info that this is set to jump off on October 15, I immediately responded that, while they're at it, they should likewise march on Congress and the rep-ugh-blican/tea bag members, who are holding the country hostage because of their inherent racist, idiotic, bankrupt policies.
I look forward to their success, and to a groundswell of Americans who likewise want to participate in sending a signal, as well as taking action, for a group of people (actually 2 groups) who are abusing the power that was given them, and undermining the stability of Americans across the board.

On October 15th, the United States Supreme Court will hear oral
arguments on the constitutional challenge filed by the Coalition
to Defend Affirmative Action, Integration and Immigrant Rights and Fight
for Equality by Any Means Necessary (BAMN) to Michigan’s
anti-affirmative action ballot referendum – Proposal 2.
Minority enrollment at Michigan’s Public Medical Schools dropped
dramatically between 2006 and 2011: from 10.1% to 5.7% at MSU; from
7.2% to 3.6% at UM; from 13.4% to 4.6% at WSU
By 2012 the percentage of black graduates at the University of
Michigan Law School was the lowest it had been since 1969, while
doctoral and master’s degrees had declined to levels not seen in twenty
years.
The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of BAMN’s
constitutional challenge to Prop. 2 and struck it down. The Supreme
Court will review this decision. A victory for BAMN in the Michigan case
would strike down anti-affirmative measures across the nation.
This case is about the protection of the political rights and
educational futures of black, Latina/o and other minority youth and
families under the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment
during the period of the greatest demographic change that the nation has
ever faced. Michigan must not become the model for how to create a new,
constitutionally-ratified Jim Crow.
America will soon be a majority-minority nation. There is no way to
build a united, inclusive new America if the core values, the core
political rights that have bound us together, even in their imperfect
application, do not apply to us all.
America today is a nation desperately in need of decisions that express a commitment to equality and justice.
We are in a new phase of struggle for human equality, dignity and equal rights
in America. The millions of immigrants, mostly Latina/o, who started
their great march in 2006, are just beginning their fight to make
America everyone’s nation. As they do, however, Michigan’s Prop 2 and
California’s Proposition 209, are widening the gulf between Latina/o and
black communities on one side—and white communities on the other.
The gap in educational opportunities means widening gaps in
employment, family income, home ownership, and everything else. This
trend, if unchecked, will take on a whole new meaning in our nation
today than it did under the old Jim Crow. In the lifetime of many who
are alive today, black, Latina/o, Asian and Native Americans will be the
majority of our population.
We can win our fight for equality if we use the coming weeks to build
an integrated national movement that can mobilize bus loads and plane
loads of people to the Supreme Court on the day the case is heard. A
victory in this case will overturn Prop 2 and similar bans in California
and other states and set the stage for a new phase of struggle that can
open up the gates of selective undergraduate universities and graduate
schools that have now been closed to black, Latina/o and Native American
students for a generation. This is our best chance to win a Federal
Immigration bill that is written in the interest of the immigrant
communities and that includes full citizenship rights for all
immigrants, an end to all deportations, and a Federal Dream Act.
We need your support to build the movement to a position strong enough to win.
Thousands of young people across the nation would love to be on the steps of the Supreme Court on October 15th and demonstrate their commitment to fighting for their own futures and their community. Victory will require the mass political pressure of young people on the steps of the Supreme Court on October 15th. Excellent legal arguments alone are not enough to win.
