Obama Prevails over the Rep-ugh-blicans - Ends Attempted Overthrow of Government

Hello All:

As we all are all to painfully aware, the US government has been under seige - and nearly literally with a gun at the head of the President via the rep-ugh-blicans (new name for them - rep-ugly-cans) who thought so little of their constituents and the American public, that they shut down the government in an insipid attempt to derail the Affordable Care Act, affectionately known as ObamaCare (because he does "care" that is).

It's unconsciounable to think that this is the end of the kind of lunacy these individuals are capable of; and, had they not pulled the same kind of b.s. when President Bill Clinton was in office, I would probably couch it as racist in its scope.  However, as bad as that is, this is even more insidious, because this the kind of evil that the rep-ugly-cans are.  And it's gone on far too long, and much too often to be allowed to continue unchallenged on the part of We, the People.

While the 800,000 who were furloughed breathe a sigh of relief as they go back to their jobs, we have to take a much more critical eye about this, and say: do we want these kinds of people in charge of the well being of our nation?

My answer, and hope yours, is HELL NO!!

While the newspapers tout the fact that the rep-ugly-cans have really shot themselves in the foot this time, I am cautiously optimistic that this is true.  However, I don't totally have faith in that, because this is the America that elected two of the worst ( well actually three, if you count Reagan) presidents into office, despite the obvious facts that neither of them were competent or intelligent - I'm of course talking about Bush I and Bush II.

There was a hint that they could possibly steal the mid-term election because of the deep pockets of their backers, whose interests are not in our best interest at all.  So I want to say several things here:

1) Thank you President Obama for standing up to bullies and not allowing yourself or the Democratic party to be intimidated by this crap.  We The People love your cool, calm, intelligent, large and in charge demeanor in the face of insanity.  You are our hero.
2) Kudos to the brothers and sisters on FaceBook who remained steadfast and loyal to the President and kept the information flowing, despite the detractors who tried to horn in with their lies.  We should be so proud of each other.
3) Likewise, kudos and respect to the members of  the Congressional Black Caucus who participated in the demonstration, which got you arrested; but showed you were neither distracted, nor impressed or distressed by the rep-ugly-cans' b.s.  You were still working in behalf of other constituents and taking care of important matters, while at the same time being up to your eyebrows in alligators.
4) Americans should launch a class-action suit against the rep-ugly-can party and the tea baggers for crimes against society; and for treason - the attempt to overthrow the government is treason, you know.
5) Those states whose representatives participated in this debacle should  have immediate recall procedures to rid themselves of them, and replace them with people who really represent their well being.  And they should be docked for their salaries for each day they did not work as a result of shutting down the government. (start with Ted Cruz, and work your way up).  We should not have to wait until the mid-term elections in 2014 to get them out.  One year - one day - is too long to allow them to continue mis-representing their constituents.  Time to take out the trash! NOW
6) The rep-ugly-cans should immediately replace Boehner as speaker, because he doesn't speak for them - or at least that's what they say.
7) Obama has to veto any bill that would cut funds to food stamps, or to social security.  Normal cost of living increases to Social Security must be restored immediately, if not sooner.
8) In any and all upcoming elections, vote Democrat,  no matter what the position is, even in heavily rep-ugly-can states.  If there is no Democratic candidate, select one and back him or her; or run yourself.  We cannot go forward with the weight of their ignorance and depraved indifference dragging us backwards.
9) Everybody write President a letter of praise and gratitude for his clarity and his courage; and write the House and Senate rep-ugly-cans letters of consternation and condemnation about their ignorance and insipid behavior.
10) Make sure you are all registered to vote, no matter where you live, no matter what kinds of obstacles they try to throw in front of you to thwart you.  And remember, dollars don't vote, people do, so that if the Koch boys or the others try to buy your vote to keep these creeps in, take the money, and vote Democratic any way.

This is an article that appeared on Yahoo Thursday, October 17, 2013:

Obama blasts Republican opponents as government re-opens, cites damage to US credibility

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama on Thursday blasted Republican opponents who he said had damaged America's economy and credibility, issuing a stern rebuke from the White House after a prolonged standoff that forced a government shutdown and threatened default.
("forced a government shutdown?" Really?  How did he come up with that one?  It's more like they forced a shutdown on America against her will, for no good reason. )

As Congress reopened the U.S. government Thursday and signed off on more borrowing so America could pay its bills, the president warned that the deal reached at the last minute on Wednesday had quelled, but not ended the deep political and fiscal crisis. The administration and its Republican {rep-uly-can} opponents know the deal only pushed the unsolved and bitter ideological battle a few months into the future. Obama warned against repeating the same damaging cycle again.

"The American people are completely fed up with Washington," Obama said in a forceful tone.
"Probably nothing has done more damage to America's credibility in the world than the spectacle we've seen these past few weeks," the president said in an impassioned White House appearance.
And Obama chastised opponents who had forced the 16-day partial government shutdown and threatened the United States with default to remember that "disagreement cannot mean dysfunction." (With all due respect to President Obama, the rep-ugly-can party is the epitome` of dysfunction.  The signs are all over the place.  And the fact that allowing these miscreants even the power of making such important decisions as budget, health care, education, manufacturing, jobs, affordable housing, etc., when it's clear that they are incompetent, is a huge mistake - and We, The People made it when we didn't vote appropriately in the 2010 midterm election.  We heartily apologize for our neglect of responsibility, and promise, promise, promise that we will not make that same mistake again in 2014. If there's any way we can make it up to you, and to the rest of our American neighbors, we definitely will be working on that for the rest of this year and on throughout the next.  Please forgive us. And thank you for hanging in despite our lack of understanding of how truly important our vote and our support of you as your team and back up truly is!)

Hundreds of thousands of federal staff began returning to work Thursday, after the legislation passed both houses of Congress late Wednesday and was signed into law by Obama just after midnight. The deal was welcomed around the world, but anxiety persisted about America's long-term stability. The fiscal feud could resume as new deadlines in January and February near, though some political experts suggested Republicans might not be so eager for another fight after seeing the party's approval plummet to record lows.

The impasse, fought over government spending in general, and Obama's new health care program in particular, had shuttered national parks and monuments, and mostly closed down agencies such as NASA and the Environmental Protection Agency. Critical functions of government went on as usual, but the closure and potential default weighed on the economy and spooked the financial markets. Standard & Poor's estimated the shutdown has taken $24 billion out of the economy.

Republican House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner said: "We fought the good fight. We just didn't win." (Idiot - it not only was not a "good fight" it was an indication that the rep-ugly-cans and tea baggers are borderline lunatics, who have no sense of responsibility, and should never hold an elected office or be put in a position of trust ever again.  The fact that he called it a "fight" shows that there is a clear lack of understanding about his job description.  As Trump would say "you're fired!")

As the deal came together earlier Wednesday, the stock market surged on the prospect of an end to the crisis that had threatened to shake confidence in the U.S. economy, both at home and abroad.
IMF managing director Christine Lagarde welcomed the deal but said the shaky American economy needs more stable long-term finances. (So bring back our industries from overseas, put people back to work on the coast lines, so that we can begin again to export "Made In America" goods, a project Obama enunciated that these turkeys have been sitting on for quite some time now.)  "It will be essential to reduce uncertainty surrounding the conduct of fiscal policy by raising the debt limit in a more durable manner," Lagarde said in a statement.

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted 285-144 in favor of the bill, even though most Republicans voted against it. In the Democrat-controlled Senate, approval was even more lopsided, 81-18.

House Republicans sparked the crisis on Oct. 1 when they refused to fund the government unless Obama agreed to defund or delay his health care law, known as "Obamacare." The government shutdown was soon overshadowed when House Republicans also refused to up the government's borrowing authority so the U.S. could pay its bills, raising the specter of a catastrophic default. Obama refused to budge, proclaiming repeatedly that he would not to pay a "ransom" in order to get Congress to pass normally routine legislation.  (This is why we salute President Obama.)

Conservative Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas championed the Republican strategy of using both deadlines as weapons that could be used to gut Obama's Affordable Care Act, which launched its online exchanges for millions of uninsured Americans on Oct 1. The Democrats fended off every challenge to Obamacare, while Republicans in the House failed to collect enough votes to pass their own plan to end the bitter standoff.  (For the record, I'm a proponent of immigration laws, so long as the people come here to make positive contributions; but the Cuban from Canada, who has more mouth than brains has proven not to be so.  Can we get another look at his green card.  Are you sure he's a citizen, or an agent provacateur?)

Boehner, in a bold move, ended up putting the compromise bill to a vote in the House knowing most Republicans didn't support it. Undaunted (??? what tha f?  Are you trying to make him out to be some sort of hero?  He's a perpetrator; only heroes get to be "undaunted," like President Obama)  he vowed (??? Vowed? really - "threatened" - only heroes "vow" - your writing is decidedly slanted a little too much to the "right" for my comfort.)  Republicans were not giving up on the "fight"  to bring down U.S. debt and cripple Obamacare.(It really was more like to bring down the US, and cripple Obama.  They didn't give two shits about the debt, or they wouldn't have plunged the government further into it to the tune of $24 billion, now would they?)

The agreement gives the parties some time to cool off and negotiate a broader spending plan. The government will remain open through Jan. 15 and the deadline for default on debts is now Feb. 7.
"There was no economic rationale for any of this," Vice President Joe Biden said, as he greeted workers returning to the Environmental Protection Agency with hugs, handshakes and muffins. "I hope everybody walks away with a lesson that this is unnecessary and I hope we can regain the trust of the American people."(And the lesson has to be, Mid-term, terminate all rep-ugly-cans and tea baggers from Congress).

The agreement doesn't resolve partisan disputes over Washington's budget, but funds the government temporarily while lawmakers try to work out a broader deal to cut deficits, and ease across-the-board spending cuts. That leaves the possibility of another stalemate in coming weeks.

"I hope this is the end of this," Biden told reporters. But he acknowledged, "There's no guarantee of anything."

Some members of Congress were already bracing for another battle.
"All this does is delay this fight four months," Republican Congressman Mo Brooks said. "We need to get to the underlying cause of the problem, which is our out-of-control spending and deficits, and fix it before it's too late, and we go down the toilet to bankruptcy because that's where America is headed."(Great, let's start with your salaries.  I'd say that a 25% cut across the board is warranted.  You certainly aren't doing your job; you're argumentative, you're not creative, you don't work well with people; you're selfish, greedy, probably taking money under the table in some sort of fashion, and you are riding roughshod over your constituents by not providing them with the goods, services, jobs, educational and health programs they sent you there to provide.  You're obviously way over paid. There are a couple of men/women-in-the-street who could do a better job, because they've experienced these problems first hand).

Several polls showed a steep decline in public approval for Republicans. Republican Sen. John McCain said the American people clearly disapprove of how Republicans, and also Democrats and the president, handled the budget gridlock (No you don't!  You don't get to drag the Democrats into this.  The only disapproval they and the President had are from the portion of the constituency who were deaf, dumb, blind, and stupid sychophants following blindly behind rep-ugly-cans because they have no information, apart from the lies being spoon feed to them from mean stream press, Fox controlled (aka Murdoch) media, and propagandistic republican swill.  The rep-ugly-can approval rating is somewhere between 2% and toilet flush, right about now).

"Hopefully, the lesson is to stop this foolish childishness," McCain said Thursday on CNN.
After Obama signed the bill, Sylvia Mathews Burwell, director of the Office of Management and Budget, issued a memorandum ordering department heads to "open offices in a prompt and orderly manner." They will be paid for the time they were forced off the job (well that's good news).

Washington's Smithsonian Institution declared on Twitter that it was back in business, announcing that its 19 museums would reopen Thursday. The National Zoo was set to reopen Friday.

Associated Press writers David Espo, Alan Fram, Andrew Taylor, Charles Babington, Stephen Ohlemacher, Henry C. Jackson and Donna Cassata contributed to this report (and they admit it? Sad, sad, sad) .

The sad thing about this is that the reports coming out of the mean stream press pretend to be "objective," and most of them have right wing undertones.

As mentioned earlier, thank goodness for my FaceBook family, and the fact that we stay informed and in communication.  Regardless of whether they continue with their b.s. partisan rivalry against the Democrats, we owe it to those in their different constituencies to provide them with truth, and reach out waaaay beyond our comfort zone to tell them that they've been "took, had, hoodwinked" by their reps into thinking Obama is the problem, when it's really them; and that they've been the problem all along.  So those of you with relatives and friends in Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North and South Carolina, West Virgina, and all them other red (neck) states, please school them so they won't be b.s'd into making the wrong choice - ever again.

Rep-ugh-blican dominated Supreme (?) Court Takes a Strike at Black People's Voting Rights - Why Are you surprised?

-->

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Hello All:

All I have to say is that in May of 2012 I said the Supreme Court injustices should have term limits.  I made the case that most were political appointees - and even after that regime is out of office, they still continue to do their dirty work - witness the Presidential selection between Al Gore and George Bush, where it was clear that criminal acts had transpired in Florida, yet the Supreme Court put Bush in office anyway.

And let's not forget the little matter of (in)Justice Roger B. Taney, who, in the Dred Scott decision, said that a Black man had no rights that a white man was bound to respect.   That was back in the 1800s! These turkeys have been trying to find a way to put Black people back on the plantation for quite some time now.  However, what they didn't count on is the fact that in the 21st Century, we don't play that.

The Voting Rights Act was Lyndon Baines Johnson's greatest accomplishment.  These red necks who were members of the solid citizens of the solid south (and no doubt first cousins to Paula Deen), got pissed off, left the Democratic Party and invaded the Rep-ugh-blican Party in order to punish them (and us).  They packed the Supreme(?) Court with (in)justices during the Bush error (uh, era) and really smacked us in the face when Justice Thurgood Marshall had to step down because of health reasons, and they gave us his exact opposite under very public and controversial hearing - Uncle Thomas Clarence (do you wonder what that guy sees when he looks in the mirror in the mornings?)

These are excerpts from an article that appeared in READER SUPPORTED NEWS, MAY 2012:

"Let us remember the lesson of Bush v. Gore: once the Supreme Court veers, it is all but impossible to get it back on track. We should have thus learned that our Supreme Court can and likely has or will gut and destroy our nation. But in Citizens United the Court (5/9 thereof) upended nearly a century of prior actions -- no "stare` decisis" for those 5. It backtracks when it's "reached" by interests other than the parties of record in a case."

"Citizens United is the best Supreme Court ruling money could buy. The justices will not prosper while sitting, but think they will ever go wanting for something down retirement road? Or their families or however else money can be funneled to them? Now just imagine a President Romney nominating either one or two new justices to the court. This is one of the most frightening possible futures in American history. One or two more Scalias or Thomases and Citizens United will seem tame by comparison to the bizarre rulings capable of coming out of that potential court. For the sake of this country's future as a Republic and a Democracy of and for the people (minus Citizens United), President Obama must be reelected in November."

"All it takes to stop the Senate is to threaten a filibuster, without even having to filibuster. What can you do to put the brakes on a deranged and extremist Supreme Court? Pass a Constitutional Amendment? The SC Justices are virtual kings, with minimal checks upon their increasingly fascist behavior. With a stroke of the pen, these people could overturn the Health Care Act, passed by both houses of Congress and supported by the President. How come just five people can so easily stop the work of the other two branches of our government? They can just swoop in, with no Constitutional authority whatsoever, and select the President. "Get over it!" Scalia said. The Supreme Court is the weak link in our so-called democracy. I think two of them ought to be impeached (Roberts and Thomas), and I think the Republican Party needs to be crushed for the next several elections."

And a last (but not least) warning to those of you who may be vacillating about the petition: "Thomas Jefferson warned the people in 1816 about the SCROTUS (uh, SCOTUS). "To consider the Judges as the ultimate arbitraters of all Constitutional questions (IS) a very DANGEROUS doctrine indeed, and one which would place us under the dispotism of an OLIGARCHY". People this country is in deep trouble!!"

I recently wrote an article, which appeared in Our Times Press (Brooklyn, NY), in reference to the rather odd decisions being handed down by the rep-ugh-blican-dominated Supreme Court, and the fact that they don't have term limits. Not only that, it's truly interesting and ironic that the Supreme Court allows corporations to donate to political campaigns, but non-profit organizations are not only not allowed to contribute, they are not allowed to endorse or advertise in the behalf of the President, or other candidates! Fearful of losing their funding, organizations have been stymied - walking on eggs. They are being bullied into science, under the guise of ethical practices, exacted against them via the most unethical means possible - the threat of punitiv, pseudo legal reprisals leveled against them. Americans are being held hostage by the very people who were supposed to be the protectors of their rights and liberties. What then does one need to do in order to be liberated from this tyranny? Frankly, the petition should have included a demand for term limits on the Supreme Court Justices, starting with the current incumbents - no more that 12 years for any one term.

Interestingly enough, no one has come up with the idea of occupying the Supreme Court; but perhaps this is the time to take them off the sacred cow list, since it is evident that they don't hold Americans' lives and wellbeing sacred or important. In the interim, if you want to prevent big corporations from disenfranchising you and your neighbors, sign the petition, and pass it on.

As with everything else here, we have to maintain vigilence.  It hasn't changed.  We have to vote in every election like our lives depended on it, because, as you can well see, they do.  These people mean us no good.  And it's been evident down through the ages.  The only way we get justice is when we stand up, together, united, and wrest it from their cold vampirish hands.   They are counting on there being no more Thurgood Marshalls among us.  They are betting on being able to get away with this scott free.  They are assuming that we don't have the intelligence, the unity and the professional representation to make them back down and reverse this decision.

I'm betting that we not only do have what it takes and who we need, that there are a lot more people who are not necessarily African American, but who are American citizens, who are just as outraged as we are, who are likewise looking to make sure they go this far, and no further.
what benefit is a Supreme Court if it's a tool for the oppressor?

It is time for good men and women of consciousness in Congress and in the communities they purport to represent, call for TERM LIMITS for the Supreme(?) Court, immediately, if not sooner.  They may well be the albatroses who push our country into fascism.

Now that you  know, What will you do?
