Hello All!
New York Are You Ready???
Pennsylvania Society is coming to town!
This year marks the 125th Anniversary of the Pennsylvania Society's Annual Week End Retreat!
So they must really
L VE NEW YORK
This annual weekend retreat for Pennsylvania's political and business leaders kicks off this Thursday, November 30 and culminates on Midnight, December 2, 2023 with a glam gala in honor of Philadelphia Mayor-Elect Cherelle Parker - Philadelphia's first Woman Mayor and 100th Mayor!
So New York City, are you ready??!!
Of course, that was a rhetorical question - because New York City is always ready for a celebration!
Being a history buff myself, I was curious about how this event had managed to take place for nearly 125 years, right under the noses of many New Yorkers, and we knew little to nothing about it. According to the information accompanying the invitation, here is how it started:
The “Pennsylvania Society Dinner,” sponsored by “The Pennsylvania Society,” takes place on Saturday, December 2nd, and is the high point of the weekend! Of course it's expanded greatly from it's original 55 founding menbers, bringing thousands of Pennsylvanians to New York to honor this tradition. This year's recipient of the 2023 Gold Medal for Distinguished Achievement, will be Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer and Joseph Neubaur of Philadelphia. In 1908 they established the prestigious Gold Medal for Distinguished Achievement for prominent person, or persons, for their leadership, citizenship and contributions to the arts, science, education and industry. In addition to the honor itself, they also contribute to a Pennsylvania charity chosen by the recipient of the Gold Medal!
This is only a snippet of the event packed three-day event designed to bring Pennsylvanias together regardless of political, economic, ethnic/racial status.
Some of the more prestigious events are listed below as follows - as per the latest communique' from the Pennsylvania Society. No doubt there will be several ancillary parties, receptions and events coinciding with the planned formalities. So, mark your calendars, get out your cute shoes, and be prepared to have the time of your lives getting to know your neighbors.
But one word of advice/or/warning to Pennsylvanians:
