WTF??? Bill Cosby Going to Jail while the Pussy Grabber in Chief is President and a rapist is considered for the Subprime Court

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Hello All:

What a travesty!  Here's a Brother who has inspired millions, contributed even more millions to Black education and families, portrayed the kind of Black family man that we could all be proud of, brought low and sentenced to imprisonment for 3-10 years, at a time of his life when he should be able to enjoy his old age.  Castigated against as a "violent rapist" when nothing could be further from the truth.

It's hard to tell the difference between the original "Me Too" Movement that was started, by Tarana Burke as result of not being believed subsequent to a legitmate sexual assault, and the travesty that it has become, distorted by the swing between the truth and a bizarre form of a need to be seen, or being highly paid to prevaricate in order to stick a celebrity.

There are some who say Cos brought it on himself; others relate tales that were told to them from a third party - relative, former co-worker - claiming to have had an encounter of the close kind with him.

Interestingly enough, of the 60 so called "victims"  95% were white, the rest were African American (or a reasonable fascimile thereof).

Also interestingly enough, though Cos was accused of "rape," it was never considered violent, or aggravated assault; there was no bragging, no paying off, no attempts to cover up - and in several cases, the "victims" admitted to going back several times.  Hmmm.... In fact, several of the accusers made the same statement - apparently he had paid for their accommodations over a period of time.  So where is the "rape?"

At any rate, I smell a rat (a white rat), and see a pattern in Cos' trial that has been a recurring theme throughout the history of Successful, Influential, Fine, Intelligent, Affluent, Generous, Wealthy Black Men - the white male structural system has consistently targeted Black men in Bill Cosby's position.

It appears that white males can't stand to see Black men in those high level positions, and will do whatever underhanded, despicable machinations to undermine them.  One has to look back in history and see the pattern, which has escalated, especially since the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts were passed, seemingly putting Black men on equal footing with whites.

But let's take it back to a very famous, generous, brother by the name of Joe Louis - the world famous Heavy Weight Boxing Champion of the 1940s, who donated all his winnings to the US

Armed Forces and Charities.  So much in love was he with the country, he fought Max Schmeling twice, wresting the championship from Nazi Germany, boosting the morale of the US, the soldiers and  Americans, Black and white, the world over.  But, no good deed goes unpunished, and, despite the fact that Schmeling represented Hitler's Nazi Germany, there were many whites who quietly resented the fact that a Black man even dared hit a white man - in or out of the ring.  So much so, that when Joe Louis, who, upon joining the US Army in the middle of his boxing career, donated all of his winnings - $89,000, to help with the war effort.  The government was so "grateful" they later hit him with income tax evasion, took everything he had, and left him totally broken and bankrupt.

The hero's humiliation played out in the press, on the front cover of the news papers, on the radio, TV, etc., while the government, who could have given complete deductions and spared him all this, looked on and let it happen.  He died an invalid, in a wheel chair, still in debt - though celebrities like Frank Sinatra and others often provided him the funds for his hospitalization and a place to live.

In the meantime, Max Schmeling, who fought for Hitler, was later given US citizenship.  He didn't even have to face the Nurenberg Trials - SMH.

How about our hero Marcus Garvey - the brother who tried to save all our souls by teaching us to be autonomous and to return to Africa, reclaim their heritage, and rejoin their brothers and sisters there to build what we now know would have become Wakanda.

We would have had Wakanda by now if we had followed him to Africa
Without internet, cell phone, or TV, he had 12 million Black followers throughout the United States, who started their own businesses, pooled their resources, and began to teach their children about their heritage.  Culminating in the purchase of three ships that would be the beginning transport back to the Motherland.  Regardless of threats from the white infrastructure, the followers grew more and more and were devoted to the premise of Africa For the Africans, at home and Abroad!!  Needless to say whites were totally against this.  So much so, the US and Great Britain conspired to stop this brother in his tracks - using a dual conspiracy by alleging to African chiefs that Garvey was coming back to Africa to get rid of them and take over their rulership; while simultaneously claiming that he had committed a federal offense via mail fraud and bilking millions of Black people (as if they cared).  He was a threat to the Brits' rubber industry in Africa, and would have cut out all the servants in the US.  After they indited him, incarcerated him, they deliberately removed him from the US so that he would have no support from African Americans.  The trial was held in Great Britain - which was bogus, since it was supposedly a federal offense that was purportedly harming Black Americans.  When the cost of traveling prevented many AfricanAmericans from going to London to support him, the case was conveniently prolonged until he was railroaded and sentenced.  (BTW the FBI was established, with J Edgar Hoover as its head in an effort to find something they could charge him with. )  They had also used a quite gullible W.E.B. DuBois to speak out against him (the same brother had to flee America when he found himself being persecuted by the Federal government later - he went to Ghana, where he died in 1963)

What about Michael Jackson, who was the well loved, world reknown King of Pop one day and "Wacko Jacko" the next, as the result of misinterpretations of his actions.  Jackson had

knocked practically every artist off the pop charts, and was so revered that he literally could not walk in the streets or have a normal life.  He was literally mobbed no matter where he went.  From the time he made his first album with his brothers, as the Jackson Five, until his break out as a solo artist, he literally had to have body guards no matter where he went or what he did.  It didn't take long for devious minds to begin to try to find ways to misinterpret his love for youth, fun, and interest in helping deprived children into something negative - with rumors of pedophilia, it began to slowly mount into a full fledged smear campaign against him - a bogus bio written by an attention seeking reporter fed the salacious mentalities of borderline racists into full fledged accusations.  This dragged this humanitarian artist into court to face people who had been strategically paid to falsely accuse him of "inappropriate" behavior.  I am sure they made his life a living hell.  He was an artist who provided funds for charitable endeavors many overlooked, who wrote songs about love, peace and unity; who walked his talk.  The more he did it, the more the meanstream media used it against him.  And, while the court ruled his death was caused by his doctor, the real truth was that his heart and spirit were broken, and forced to make a comeback appearance to support his family, his health had already been depleted.   Michael, like Joe Louis, was a great example of no good deed going unpunished - white folks will find a way to destroy uppity Brothers.   When Michael Jackson died, my Mom, Ruby Love, who was in her 80s at the time, called me from Oklahoma City, and said: "Well, they finally killed him.  I knew they weren't going to rest until they did."

How about O.J. Simpson?  That was about as prime an example of white conspiracy against a Black man who apparently had it all.  It looked as if the brother could do nothing wrong.

Remember?  Football great, fine, athletic, movie star hero, the darling of talk shows, OJ was The Black Man to go to.  And we lapped it up.  I know I did - I remember watching him jump over suitcases in a commercial for an airline.  Suddenly, we are regaled with the news that OJ's white wife Nicole Brown Simpson, from whom he was separated, was found knifed to death.  Of course, the immediate suspect was OJ Simpson, despite the fact that he was actually on airplane on the way to an event at the exact time that the murder took place.  Add to that the act that Ron Goldman, who had been banging his wife, and had been called over to their home to return some shades, during the height of the dinner hour - something that could have waited until the restaurant closed - was likewise found knifed to death.  The real target was Goldman, who had been messing with the wife of one of the big cocaine dealers in LALA Land - he was sent there to be ambushed; OJs wife unfortunately came out, and ended up being part of the melee and died as well (BTW they owed $90,000 for coke - and OJ refused to pay it) - they were leaving no witnesses.  And while it was evident that Goldman put up a major fight, there were no bruises on OJ.  Bottom line, he didn't do it, but the LAPD conspired in the most incompetent manner ever, to stack the evidence against him.  When Johnny Cochrane proved he was not guilty, "if it doesn't fit, you must acquit," and all the Black people rejoiced when he won; whites couldn't bear it, and literally invented a new law so they could try him again.  They could not stand to see the brother walk away in victory.  They were perfectly prepared to pity him and say he put up a good fight, but too bad he lost - but no Black man gets over on the bogus judicial system, and goes unpunished.

Muhammad Ali was a victim of the white racist regime, as the Heavy Weight Champion of the World, who was not to be manipulated by them and forced into participating in a war he did not believe in.

They were already pissed because he changed his name from Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali, rejected their religion to embrace the Nation of Islam, and who was not part of the hgh roller society where his money came in one hand and went out the other.  So when he stood up against the war, and Black men and women across the nation followed his example, they stripped him of his championships; made it illegal for him to fight, or travel, or be involved in the public eye.  We all stood behind him, and were proud of the fact that he did not bow or buckle under the pressure.  And pressure there was - when he later succumbed to Parkinson's disease, there was a smug sense of retribution on the part of many whites who bore grudges for his not being "grateful enough to go to war.

Paul Robeson, athlete, activist,  intellect, actor, singer, fine Black man, was denied the ability to travel and sing because he stood up for Black people against racism, and temporarily embraced

Communism because America was blatantly persecuting, hanging and discriminating against Black Americans.  Robeson's movie career proliferated in London, where he was the hero of most of the movies he did - including The Emperor Jones, Big Fella, King Solomon's Mines - and so many others.  He was always the Black man who stood for Black people - something he could never do in the movies he made in the US, where they either had him as some sort of lackey, or servant, talking broken english, with his foot in the sand.  Most Black people still have not seen all the movies he made; while the whites try to continue to tie him to communistic leanings.  However, as he later learned, whites are whites - the racists whites in the US vs the manipulative racists who tried to use him to recruit Black people in order to undermine the US.  When he began singing for the unions, big business began to get involved in trying to thwart his influence in bringing them together - and cited the fact that he had had an affiliation with Russia.  They pulled his passport, forbade him to sing in public, confined him to his home, and tried to make him a pariah.

When Ben Chavis was named the head of the NAACP, he was castigated against because he tried to unite them with the Nation of Islam by bringing Minister Louis Farrakhan to meet with the executive board.

This of course enraged their detractors, who then bribed a secretary to claim that he had promised her a position in exchange for sexual favors - something Chavis had never been known for. The NAACP, because of outside influence of the "you know who" ousted him, rather than stand behind him.  They were too dependent on outside funding sources and allowed themselves to be intimidated with the threatened loss of funds.  SMH  Fortunately, Chavis' affiliation with Farrakhan prevented him from being destitute - much to the chagrin of his detractors.

Before we get back to the elaborate conspiracy that has led to Cosby being incarcerated, I have a few more salient examples of how devious whites are in their backlash:

Since we're dealing with how they hate it when a Black man successfully does a better job than they ever could, let's take a look at the ultra successful career and influence of Chief Justice Thurgood Marshall, who was with the Supreme Court before it became subprime.

He had such an impact on the justice system, much to the annoyance of whites who never ever wanted to see a Black man there, that when he  stepped down during the Repuglycon/Bushwacker era, they  nominated his exact opposite - uncle Thomas Clarence to replace him.  The joke was, he's still of color, just not Black mentally, spiritually or psychologically.  He was literally the polar opposite of Marshall in every way - meaning there was no snowball's chance in hell that he was ever going to do anything remotely to rule in the favor of Black folks - ever.

And, of course, the current ersatz incumbent who now occupies the white house after eight years of having the best president ever - (and if you thought I'd put his ugly photo on my Blog, you're sadly mistaken);

and the fact that white racist repuglycons put their racism, greed and egos over the welfare of the nation during Obama's administration, to make sure that none of his policies were ratified - even to the point of refusing to hear his nominee for the subprime court.  They also dragged their feet in the replacement of Eric Holder who stepped down as Attorney General, and made  Loretta Lynch wait for a hearing, for no other reason than they just wanted to block Obama.

Or the destruction of Kermit Eady, founder of the Black United Fund of New York (BUFNY), by Elliott Spitzer, the persecutor who became governor and later got kicked out because of his own immorality

- he fabricated information, intimidated witnesses in order to destroy the organization that raised funds ($111 million a year) to fund and underwrite Black programs, educations, businesses and home ownership in New York.  After he destroyed them, he dropped the case - but never reinstated Kermit Eady, the founder, or those who were the beneficiaries of the program - thousands of Black New Yorkers.  The elected officials were so cowardly they would not stand up for him or the organization.

Roland Martin of News One in Washington, DC, who has consistently told it like it is, had a stellar two-hour morning news show; but was booted off because he told the truth about what

was going on in the T-rump regime.  From 7:00AM to 9:00AM while others were watching formulated news, and being misled about what was happening and how it affected them, Roland Martin, and a panel of Black subject matter experts from both sides of the political spectrum, would weigh in on the real story.  Of course he had to go - and he was given no choice or chance (fortunately he is made of sterner stuff and now has his own independent newscast. But you can almost bet the TV producer was leaned on heavily to get rid of him.

Now, let's get back to Brother Dr. William H. Cosby, Jr., now incarcerated on a series of trumped up charges that they have had to compile and inveigh in order to wear him and his legal team down to make them stick.    And also let's not forget that there was a hung jury, he was actually acquitted, but a judge with a vendetta apparently was not satisfied with that decision.

Let's do a rewind back to the days of Cosby prior to the Cosby show, when he started educational programs such as The Electric Company; or when he was the co-star with Robert Culp on the adventure detective show, I Spy; or when he started the animated series Fat Albert to teach kids good behavior and principles.

This was a Black man devoted to educating and entertaining Black people.  He donated millions of dollars to HBCUs,  as well as Temple University, Spelman and others.  He has been the quiet donor in the background who helped Spike Lee complete the production of Malcolm X when he ran out of funds and the whites wanted to write their own ending.  His purpose and focus has always been to the uplift of Black people - from all the wonderful books he has written, to his inspirational comedic recordings.  He literally went back to college to get a PhD in order to put together relevant, edutainment shows for predominantly Black audiences.

The phenomenal success of The Cosby Show, that defied stereotypes and showed the inside life of a upwardly mobile, Black Middle Class Family, broke all records and stayed in the top echelon of TV for nearly a decade, with a spinoff of Blacks on college campuses - breaking yet another stereotype about our being ignorant, lazy and inconsequential.  Every Thursday night, most Black families were sitting in front of the TV at 8:00PM watching Heathcliff and Clare Huxtable and the family set high standards of family values.  He became America's Dad.  His show inspired many other Black actors, writers and producers to produce similar shows - which caused a heyday of uplifting Black television viewing.

Now you know the rednecks were chafing at that accolade of America's Dad - there he was doing Kodak, Jello, and so many other commercials; raising funds, donating funds, pitted in major contrast against their paucity of relevant images.  But the real corker was when he made the mistake of announcing that he was planning to purchase NBC and turn it into a Black TV Channel.  The entire TV industry went absolutely nuts!! His so called associates revealed themselves as the backstabbers they had already been - as long as he was staying mildly militant, they were cool - but now he was getting ready to overstep his bounds and walk in white shoes - there was a collective "oh hell no!"  Not only did they find a way to "legally" prevent him from purchasing the station, they began cutting back on his show.  But the most egregious sign was when they murdered Ennis Cosby, his only son, who was waiting for someone to come and repair a tire on the Freeway in California.  It so demoralized Cosby, who, while he never said it publicly, new it was a direct hit and warning to him to stay in his place.

But they didn't stop there - the vendetta was on to take him from hero to zero - and what better way to do this than to do what most whites do when they want to destroy a Black man, impugn his morality and steep it with allegations of rape and other banaal acts.  It works so well - especially when the victims are caucasian.  Having lived in Hollywierd myself,  I am well aware of the many drug parties that went on there - and no one should be surprised if Cos participated in some of them.  However, when you have 60 females - predominantly white - who claim he drugged tthem, and they all found themselves waking up beside him - it's a little too cookie cutter, too coached, too convenient.  It took the credibility of the "#MeToo Movement," and marginalized it for me.

I recently re-watched the movie, Trading Places, starring Eddie Murphy, Dan Akroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis - and realized the lengths to which whites will go to destroy a Black man, by any means necessary.  In this case, Cosby is the Dan Akroyd character who has it all - and whites are doing everything they can to destroy him.  They set up scenarios, hired liars, actors, begrudged people, relatives - paid them handsomely.   And stand by and mock him, and them, while he falls under the weight of overwhelming false evidence.  And if you don't believe it can happen, go back and study Macchiavelli - it's real and is being used effectively on large and small scales.

Now I am not saying that Cosby is completely innocent; just that he's not guilty - and those are two different things.  He made some  self incriminating statements, owing to bad legal advice  - too bad we no longer have lawyers the caliber of Johnny Cochran - It would have been completely different - but far too many of our ersatz Black lawyers are trying to impress white judges.  Sad to say.

However the real kicker is that it is a feather in the cap of whites when you can "bag a big one" - destroy and humiliate a Black man who is held in high esteem, in front of the people who love him, while they stand helplessly by and see it happen.  Add insult to injury by suspending his TV shows, so there are no royalties for the other actors and actresses who also participated in the show - hopefull the so called Black TV stations are not falling for this.  But I'm simultaneously happy that  I have videos of most of his shows from Black in the day.  They are trying to wipe this good brother off the face of the earth, and make us eat it and co-sign it.  In the meantime, we are constantly being fed a steady diet of ignorance in the form of the pussygrabber, the repuglycons, and others who are now smugly sitting by and pulling the strings in DC.

For an ignorant, racist judge to claim that Bill Cosby is a "sexually violent predator" at the age of 81, or at any age is ridiculous and insulting.

At the same time they are supporting a pussy-grabbing pedophile as president, and considering seating a true "sexually violent predator" as a subprime court justice, is completely and totally insane, as well as insulting to our intelligence.  In the interim, the entire holy roman empire - and the archdiocese of Philadelphia (the US) needs to be called into question for centuries of pedophilia and sodomizing young boys - destroying their innocence and ruining their lives forever.

Somehow these have never truly been brought to trial, and most likely will never be.  But this is what my people, the other side of my family, the Cherokee Nation, calls "white man's (in)justice" - and he speaks with "forked tongue."

That said, I'm faced with a dilemma when it comes to the upcoming testimony of Kavanaugh's victims - of course there should be a statue of limitation when it comes to sexual predatory issues - but when the stakes are as high as the Presidential office or Supreme Court, all those norms are off - it is the responsibility of the FBI, CIA, State Department, and witnesses to come forward and show cause - to do otherwise would be a travesty and a tragedy.   Indeed, there is no statue of limitation when it comes to pedophiles - as far as I'm concerned.  But Cosby is none of these, and I daresay that most of the so called improprieties were between "consenting" adults.  They didn't have to accept the money, the accommodations or anything else they alleged he provided them with.  So to turn around and now castigate him is truly despicable and duplicitous.

While there has been this penchant to persecute Bill Cosby, I see none of the same in the cases of others who have now come under the scrutiny.  It will be of interest to see whether they attack with the same vitriol they did when they went after this brother.

I remain a firm fan and believer in Bill Cosby, and have seen nor heard anything to change my mind about him.  I am going to keep Bill, Camille and the children in my prayers, as well as those of you who actually accept the judgments of these vipers as true, fair or equal.

My closing warning is to our Black upcoming comedians and commentators, such as Trevor Noah - please refrain from using Bill as the butt of your jokes - you have no idea how deep you

are digging yourself into their trap.  They are and always be giving you enough rope, allowing you to become as comfortable as possible, but remember when you least expect it, up jumps the devil.  Watch your back.  Bill Cosby paved the way for so many Black comedians to have their place in the sun.  They are just waiting for the time when they can eclipse you as well.

In the meantime, I expect the Black community, now that the initial shock is over, to use the same influence and exert the same pressure you did when you got Meek Mill out of prison - someone who has not done even one quarter of the wonderful things for Black people that Cos has done.  We must not allow this tragedy and travesty to go unchallenged.  And while we are dealing with that, make sure you keep this Black Man in Your Prayers.

NOW THAT YOU KNOW
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

My Open Love Letter to Bill Cosby

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Hello All:

Open Letter to Brother Bill Cosby:

Dear Bill:

Just wanted to reach out to you and Camille and your entire family to let you know that I, and so many others, love you, support you, and know that you have been victimized by the most racist and egregious of all systems - the US Meanstream media.

The very system you have helped realize billions of dollars because of your talent, genius, and intelligence; the same system that you pulled out of the toilet with your landmark, wonderful television show - THE BILL COSBY SHOW; and the spin off DIFFERENT WORLD - was the same racist system that turned on you when you made overtures to purchase a network so that Black people would have a relevant TV system of their own.  We know who they are all too well.

And we know who you are as well Bill:

You're the brother who grew up on the streets of Philadelphia, but who did not let the streets of Philadelphia keep you from rising and coming back with your largesse to help those who could not make it out.

You're the brother who had his own comedy show, and when it "tanked" didn't roll over and play dead, but went to Amherst University and got a PhD in Education so that you could come back and develop programming that was relevant and educational as well as entertaining for African American children.  My kids grew up on Electric Company and Fat Albert.  And they raised their kids on the
shows that I videotaped so they can continue to watch them long after the so-called ratings had dropped.

You're the brother who made those wonderful recordings that had us all rolling on the floor at Lincoln University when I was a homesick student and needed a little levity to see me through - remember  "I Started Out as a Child?" It's still my favorite - and "Noah," keeps me rolling on the floor laughing myself silly.

You're the brother who used his money - earned from the shows and the many endorsements for products who don't have the backbone to back you up now  - to help Black colleges that were struggling to keep their doors open when the Federal government, and many of their own alumni had turned their backs and closed their wallets.

You and Camille are the power couple who have helped countless numbers of people and organizations over the decades, who had no place else to turn.

You're the brother who tried to wake Black parents up who were spending hundreds of dollars for sneakers for their children, while not spending a dime for books or to further their education - you got slammed for it then, and it's proving to be the case now - even Michael Jordan is admitting it and "dropping" the prices of his sneakers.

You're the brother who performed at the Apollo in Harlem for free in order to raise funds for charitable organizations.

You are the brother who took a principled stance when it came to stand up comedy and decided to not use profanity as a pseudo form of entertainment, but to keep it clean so that your mom and your children and other children could watch you without having to have a censor bleep out part of your message.

You are the perfect father image on the Cosby show - and that is who you always are.

We over understand the way the meanstream white racist media - and the so called illuminati - work - when they can't corrupt a Black man who has power and influence in the world, they do their best to vilify him to his people and use their media propaganda to do so.

We over understand how they are able to buy those sell outs  - like Buruss - ersatz comedian - to be the judas-vehicle to plant the message among those who are gullible -

Their modus operendii is not new - they've been doing it for centuries.  They did it to Paul Robeson - another great Philadelphian and a Fine Black Man like you - when they denied him the right to perform.

These are evil vicious people

So this is my prayer for you, Bill:

That while they meant it for evil, God will turn it into good; that you
will get double for your trouble; that he will bring beauty from the ashes.
That no weapon formed against you will prosper, and that you are
stronger, mightier and more blessed than these miscreants ever
imagined.
That God The Living Spirit Almighty will restore unto you
all that the locusts have eaten and you will stand taller, stronger,
and more erudite than ever before.

Please be of courage, my brother, and maintain your health
and dignity - we want you to be here at age 90 so you can
look back and laugh at your detectors and transducers
and be able to say:  "I'M STILL STANDING, BUT BY THE
GRACE OF GOD" (by the way that's
a favorite song of mine by Israel Houghton - you might
enjoy listening to it).

As I said at the beginning and I reiterate now - I love you &
believe in you! And so does God - AMEN

Stay Blessed &
ECLECTICALLY BLACK

Bill Cosby and Job

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Hello All:

BILL COSBY

This past month has seen the reputation of a man I admire, an Icon, and a brother who has spent his life doing good things for people, trashed in the court of public opinion.  The social media has locked on to the multiple allegations of rape against Dr. William H. "Bill" Cosby, and are having a feeding frenzy on it.

In in the fact of all the jumping on the bandwagon from females coming from out of the woodwork, under rocks, and out of the shadows, as it were, shows, contracts, interviews have been cancelled.  Though not a shred of concrete evidence has been presented, Bill Cosby is being lynched in the worst possible way.  Interestingly enough, Whoopi Goldberg nailed it when she said, on The View, aren't you supposed to produce a rape kit, when the allegations or charges of rape are involved?

And as far as I'm concerned, Bill Cosby is a good man - in fact a Fine Black Man - at least in my eyes, and through my experience of knowing him, having interviewed him, being around he and his lovely wife, Camille, at many an event.   No, I didn't say he was a saint; nor did I say he was "perfect."  But he's no rapist, either.

CAMILLE AND BILL COSBY

But definitely over the great scheme of things, Bill Cosby has spent his life in the service of and helping others - primarily Black people - but people in general - through sharing his largess with universities, via scholarships, through developing and underwriting educational program; doing charitable shows; and what the late Maynard Jackson would call "Good Works."  He's helped thousands of aspiring actors, writers, producers succeed in their careers, giving them opportunities they would never otherwise have had - showcasing their talents in ways that made it possible for them to go forward on their own and continue to succeed.

Not only has he been "America's Dad" he is also a Dad and a Granddad, one who's raised his family, along with his wife and partner, Camille, to be, do and have great things.

So when the ersatz comedian deigned to target an Icon, to further his career, no one really saw any serious cause for alarm.  He wouldn't be the first person to take a bit of gossip and use it in jest against someone of note.  It's been done over and over countless times.  Political satire is made of innuendos and controversy turned into comedy.  But, owing to the tenor of the times, the opportunity to see how far down one can drag an icon - especially one so highly placed as Bill Cosby - this one grew legs and began to take on the size of a leviathan - to the point of now, here we are, with several women claiming to have been "raped" by Bill Cosby. And the more information is published, the more they come out saying the same thing. And now, a man who was enjoying the pinnacle of success is looking being accused of heinous behavior, totally uncharacteristic of the man we've all come to know and love.

And I had to ask myself "WHY???"  Why is this happening to Bill Cosby?  Why now?

And as I rode home the other evening, riding the bus and listening to some ignorant people "talking loug and saying nothing" mention Bill Cosby, for some reason the Book of Job suddenly popped into my mind, as a comparison to what he is going through.  And I remember that one of the main things in that story was why bad things happen to good people?
If you don't know the story of Job, or are fuzzy about it, let me "refresh your recollection" as the late Johnnie Cochran used to say.  I'm paraphrasing from a post by Jack Wellman on December 31, 2011, entitled:
Job Bible Story Summary with Lesson:

"The Accuser: All was going well with Job.  He had it all: A large family, wealth, and blessings of every kind imaginable.  At that time, Job may have been the richest man on the face of the earth.  Job 1:2-3 describes his wealth as “He had seven sons and three daughters, and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East.”

JOB - News BBC

"Clearly, Job had it all.  This must have bothered Satan because he came to God.   What did God say to Satan about Job?  God bragged on Job in 1:8, saying, “Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”   Can you imagine the God of the Universe bragging on Job from heaven?  Might He also brag about you and your righteousness found in Jesus Christ?  It is entirely possible however Satan was not convinced and said to God, “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.  But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face” (Job 1:9-11).

"Satan’s name means “adversary” and he has been called the “accuser of the brethren” (Rev. 12:10). God sets out to prove to Satan that Job is not righteous just because he is being blessed.  God challenges the Devil telling him, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger” (Job 1:12).  Job lost just about everything; his sheep, his oxen, his camels, his servants, and all of his sons and daughters – but remarkably he did not lose his faith in God. What was Job’s response?  “Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. And he said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD.  In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong” (Job 1:20-22).

"Here we can plainly see Job’s reaction:  he worshiped God, he said that he came into this world with nothing and will return with nothing, the Lord has taken away all he had except his wife – and his wife told him to “curse God and die” – and Job also blessed the name of the Lord.  In all of this, “Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong!”   He blessed God’s name, he worshiped God, and he did not sin.  Satan must have been angry at Job’s response.  Job suffered unjustly and yet he did not blame God or say, “why me?”

"Fair Weather Friends:  Job’s friends tried to console him but they soon started to blame him for his own troubles inferring that he must have sinned in order for all these trials to come upon him.  That is something that is far too easy for believers to do.  When they see a Christian suffer, they unfairly assume that there must be sin in that believer’s life.  But suffering is not always a result of sin as we see with Job.  In many cases, those who are sinners suffer little while those who are saints suffer much.  Many people see this as a stumbling block for Christianity and ask why God allows suffering.  Instead of asking “why” they might be better off asking “what”.  What is God up to?  What is He trying to produce in us?  Like the refiners fire, God often uses suffering to produce righteous character in believers.  Sometimes He wants those who suffer to be more dependent upon Him.  It may be that He is trying to get our attention.  We might even be sinning; however we can not always equate suffering with sin in a believer’s life as we see with Job’s experience.

"At first Job’s friends try to help Job but they quickly turn to accusing him of some sort of hidden or known sin.  Job knows that this is not the reason and tries to justify himself against their accusations.  But his justification quickly turns to self-righteousness and that is sin before God.  Job’s friends say, “Is not your wickedness great? Are not your sins endless? You demanded security from your brothers for no reason; you stripped men of their clothing, leaving them naked.  You gave no water to the weary and you withheld food from the hungry, though you were a powerful man, owning land– an honored man, living on it. And you sent widows away empty-handed and broke the strength of the fatherless. That is why snares are all around you, why sudden peril terrifies you” (Job 22:5-10). This brings God’s righteous indignation upon Job’s friends (Job 42:7-17).

God Answers Job: "Job is not guiltless as no man is without sin (1 John 1:8, Romans 3:23). Job becomes discouraged, partly because of the blame game played by his friends. Job begins to question God Himself and this is when God answers Job out of the whirlwind (tornado?), He says, “Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me.Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding” (Job 38:2-4).  God puts Job in his place and in effect tells Job, who are you to question the God of the Universe?  God never does answer Job’s question on why He allows suffering. God, in His sovereignty, chooses not to tell us everything.  That is God’s prerogative. Also notice that God spoke to Job out of the “whirlwind” which is the terminology for a tornado or great and destructive windstorm.  This could indicate that God is in all things going on this world.  He is sovereign and nothing happens that is not within His perfect will.  This things include natural disasters and calamities.  God is never caught off guard or by surprise.

"God Restores Job If Job had known that God would have restored to him more than he had in the first place, would he have questioned Him at all?  God rewards Job for his faithfulness and his endurance through such suffering.  This story has an incredible ending.

"Job 42:10-17  “After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his prosperity and doubled his [previous] possessions. All his brothers, sisters, and former acquaintances came to his house and dined with him in his house. They offered him sympathy and comfort concerning all the adversity the LORD had brought on him. Each one gave him a qesitah and a gold earring.

"So Job ended up much better off than he was in the beginning.  He had considerably more than when he began his suffering and even though God did not answer Job why he was allowed to suffer so terribly, in the end Job had more blessings than any man or the face of the earth at that time.  The application for Christians today is that God will bless those who endure to the end and that someday, God will reward us with unbelievable blessings that can not compare with what we have today (Rom 8:18, 28).  We will all suffer in this life.  It is appointed to mankind to suffer. It is a fallen world.  We may not know the “why” today but some day we probably will.  Instead of asking “why”, we should ask “what”.  What is God up to?  What is God trying to do in me?  The “why” will have to wait for someday in eternity.  Until then, we can not fully grasp the purpose of God but we know that He will not allow us to suffer into eternity.  One thing that is important is that Satan could not lay a finger on Job, nor can he us.  God will not allow this (Job 1:12. I John 4:4).###"

Bill Cosby has maintained his silence throughout this ordeal.  He's not trashed his accusers, nor given in to the taunts and controversy. This is admirable in a day and age when most people would have been all over the media bad-mouthing and hurling accusations across the board, making threats and filling the meanstream media with headlines.  No, Bill's silence is aggravating to the meanstream because they can't take his words and distort them, or use them against him.  He's keeping his own counsel, and, by not dragging friends and associates into this melee, he's also showing his confidence in the truth prevailing in the end.

So, in that way, he is also very much like our hero, Job, who continued to struggle and move forward despite the "slings and arrows of outrageous 'mis'fortune."

Cosby's even offered to refund monies to those who had paid to see him perform at his annual December event at New York's famed Apollo Theatre.  There's much to be said for this kind of demeanor - valiant, steadfast, honor bound - something very few of our youth, or our contemporaries - know of in this day and age.  With the advent of the so-called reality TV genre, you're more likely to see people standing toe to toe calling each other m-f's and other negative names, than taking the role of not rolling on the ground in the mud with the swine.

Frankly, I don't know what Bill Cosby's religious beliefs are.  I remember him saying once that Camille was brought up as a Catholic - but I don't think he would be as beloved or insightful, or dedicated as he is, had he not had some spiritual background and underpinning to carry him through.  He more walks his talk, than talks about it.  By his works he has been known.  And they stand on their own.

And, as Job was made whole and restored by the Divine, Cosby will likewise be vindicated.  Taking a departure from the Bible, I had a Grandmom, Cornelia, who used to say that just when the enemy thought he had you by the shorthairs, "the worm do turn."   I've witnessed it in the worst of situations; I've witnessed it in my own life, as well.  And Cornelia's message is as valid in this case as it has been in others.

As in the case when Cosby wanted to buy NBC-TV, New York, and his fair weather friends betrayed him, this may be a period of housecleaning as well.  It's also a test of the faith of people who have been admonished to judge not lest you be judged; and when you do judge somebody, make sure you're doing it with righteousness.

BILL COSBY IN 1969

Look at motives on the part  of the accusers - what is there to gain from such accusations?  Money, fifteen minutes of fame?  Is there a vendetta that's being fed by this?  Possibly.  Why would a man with the mega millions money and  chocolate good looks of a Bill Cosby (especially 30 to 40 years ago) need to rape anybody - when women, who were falling over him to be noticed, would have cheerfully jumped into bed with him at the slightest invitation or provocation?  Makes you wanna go hmmmmm?  Is there a secret bet going on between the equivalent of God and Satan to see who can tear down an icon?  And are we playing into their hands?

It's not so outlandish as you may think - the movie, TRADING PLACES - with Eddie Murphy, Jamie Lee Curtis and Dan Akroyd was based on this same premise.

Please note, I didn't mention, and don't intend to, the names of any of the accusers in my Blog - nor the ersatz comedian who made this a part of his comedy routine, because he lacked originality.  I'll leave that to the purveyors of gossip and negativity to do that.

I am and will remain an admirer of Bill Cosby -You certainly do have to have spiritual underpinnings to successfully make it through 50 years of marriage; to lose a son and continue to move forward; to put together wonderful programs; be gracious when you're falling out on your feet.  He has indeed been blessed.

Perhaps somebody doesn't like that, and started a "what would happen if......?" campaign.  Machiavelli, in the Prince, spoke of the "big lie."  A lie so big that even though it was a lie, the more the person tried to prove his or her innocence, the more people believed the lie.  After all, why would anyone go to the trouble of doing something like that, most people would think, using logic as their basis.  Most regular people would never think that deviously.  It takes someone with big stakes to tell the big lie and see if it mushrooms they way they want.  The fact that Bill Cosby has not engaged in the mind game partly thwarts the purpose of the rumor mill.  The shadow of a reasonable doubt should be something the public would stick to - it's part and parcel of our justice system.  And when a man, especially Black man of the caliber of Bill Cosby, is suddenly excoriated and raked over the coals, there is something very sinister going on.

Whether or not this matter is ever cleared up in the court of public opinion, there is a law in this country that a man is innocent UNTIL PROVEN guilty.  And it most certainly would not be the first time that a Black man has suffered massive character assassination only to be found totally innocent of the charges at a later date.  Supposedly reputation, once trashed, can never be resurrected.  So I would caution all who read or watch the meanstream media to be very careful about how much of this you swallow, or how much you repeat to your friends - you may have to eat those words.

My prayers and support go out to Bill and Camille Cosby, the Cosby family, friends, relatives and supporters during this madness.

I am so proud to be a Delta. We are 98 years old today, January 13, 2011. We made history way back when others were afraid to think outside the box, let alone step outside of it.

We, who proudly wear the Nine White Pearls and the Creme and Crimson, were and are the trailblazers in service to our Eclectically Black sisters and brothers. We proudly celebrate our contemporary sorors as well as those who have gone before us, such as:

There are so many more of my sorors (and yes, I do love to brag about being Delta) - but this could end up being a fifteen page blog if I even attempted to list a quarter of those sorors who have contributed to the well being of our people through service and caring. Suffice it to say we are two hundred fifty thousand strong (250,000!!!) and growing- nationally and internationally.

As a community service sorority, a strong public or community service is a pre-requisite before you are even considered as a pledgee - i.e., you already have to be about it.

Historically speaking, after a considerable amount of deliberation, research, meeting, and creativity, twenty-two young Black ladies, who at the time were members of another sorority at Howard University in DC, made a pivotal decision - to withdraw from the current sorority to form a sorority based on service to Black people. In other words they had a philosophical parting of the ways. They felt they were more needed, and could be more useful in the fields of education, health, and public service.

To date those twenty two, fabulous, elegant, autonomous Black women have each increased their presence more than 11 thousand times (mathematically speaking)-- spiritually, physically, mentally, socially -- each of us Deltas carries the spirit of our 22 progenitors with us as we go out into our respective communities and millieus. We carry with us their love, strength of character and conviction, intelligence, creativity, dedication, and compassion.

This day, Thursday January 13, 2011 is our 98th Founders Day. We celebrate each other and those 22 brave, beautiful founding sorors. Happy Birthday and Congratulations to all my Sorors of Delta Sigma Theta, from your Soror Gloria Dulan-Wilson.
