GDW EVENT ALERT EXTRA: JUNE 9-21 2016 - INCLUDING THE GREATEST - MUHAMMAD ALI'S HOMEGOING SERVICE SCHEDULES

BY Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Hello All:

This is the third posting of my event alerts in the same week - something I don't normally do - and something I don't plan to do again in the future.  But these are significantly of interest and concert that I felt compelled to share the info with you.

Before I proceed, however, I am going to set some guidelines for sending me info about upcoming events that you want included in my Blog - Please have them to me the TUESDAY BEFORE THE EVENT.
PLEASE SEND ALL EMAILS FOR THIS BLOG TO
eclecticallyblacknews@gmail.com

I generally make the calendar on Wednesdays, so I try to compile all the events on Tuesday, the day before I write the Blog.  Only under dire circumstances should you be sending me anything on Wednesdays.  I would really appreciate your cooperation in following this guide line.  This is not a comprehensive list - this is a continuation of two previous GDW EVENT ALERTS THAT WERE RECENTLY POSTED - please check out my blog for a complete comprehensive overview of JUNE THUS FAR - and then see if there is a way you can clone yourself in order to be able to attend all that's going on - because that's pretty much what you will have to do - Hope I've given you enough to keep you occupied so far -

As you know, Thursday and Friday, THE GREATEST, MUHAMMAD ALI'S Funeral/HOMEGOING Services will be held in Louisville, KY.  Since we can't all be there in person, there are several media providing live streaming for both Thursday, June 9 and Friday, June 10.  These are some of them.

TO OUR BELOVED BROTHER THE GREATEST - MUHAMMAD ALI
NOW A MEMBER OF THE ANCESTOR/ANGELS

Ever used a lotion bar? SPECIAL FREE OFFER:
It looks like a bar of soap but works on dry skin and is one of the most moisturizing and nourishing beauty products I've ever found.
Ive been hand making them for years and we use them for:
  • My husband's dry, cracked heels during the winter
  • My son's eczema (before we stopped it)
  • Dry winter hands and cracked fingers
  • As a really effective general purpose moisturizer
All my recipes are on the blog, but I often get asked if I make them and sell them. I don't, but there is a company I've purchased from called Made On that does make and sell them. It is run by a mom named Renee, and she makes her lotion bars with only three natural ingredients: coconut oil, beeswax and shea butter.
For the next three days (until Saturday 6/11/16), Renee has offered all Wellness Mama readers a free lotion bar to try (you just pay shipping). Click here to get it
You'll also receive a discount of 15% on any other products from Made On that you'd like to try by using the code "wellnessmama" (Vanilla Dust Lip Balm is another one of my favorites and her diaper rash cream is great as well).
Until Saturday (6/11) only, click here to grab your free lotion bar and try any other products at a discount with the code "wellnessmama"
Warmly,
Katie
P.S. The link to the Made On site is an affiliate link, so if you purchase through it I'll make a small percentage (many thanks!), but the cost is the same to you whether you purchase through my link or go to the site directly.

After serving eight years in prison, reformed gang leader S. Lance Ingram (Daniel Beaty) re-enters society and struggles to adapt to a changed Harlem. Living under the tough supervision of a parole officer in a halfway house, he is unable to find a job that will let him use the technological skills he gained in prison, and is forced to deal with racism, gang violence, and the gentrification of the historic New York City neighborhood in which he was raised. Directed by Jamal Joseph, a leader of the Black Panther Party who spent time in prison as a result of his involvement in the organization, Chapter & Verse pulls you into its vibrant world and reflects upon what it means to forge your own destiny in an outwardly harsh society.

SUNDAY, JUNE 18, 2016

The National Black Theatre was founded by my late Sister/Soror/Friend BARBARA ANN TEER. She conceived of and built the wonderful venue from the ground up.  Raising her own funding when she could not get help from the "powerless that be" in Harlem. She had it blessed by Yoruba Priests whom she brought over from Nigeria with the express purpose of doing so.  She had a grand opening with a parade of Elephants down 125th street in Harlem - TRUE DELTA SIGMA THETA DIVA STYLE - to commemorate the occasion.  Though she is no longer here with us on this plane of action  - having joined the realm of ANCESTOR/ANGELS - her spirit and energy, creativity and vibrancy still permeate the NATIONAL BLACK THEATRE - where talent and magic happen side by side.   It's only fitting and proper that another Sister/Friend/Writing buddy, RHONDA ROSS, be a part of the TEER SPIRIT AWARDS, because she exemplifies so much of the spirit led energy that was part and parcel of Barbara Ann's entire being - a spirit that ran through Barbara's entire family, and is so contagious that you can find yourself pleasantly engulfed with it the minute you enter that sacred building. You  definitely don't want to miss this event!!  GDW

The soul-stirring sound of summer in a one-night-only concert: “I Do,” “Love,” “Angel,” “Forever, for Always, for Love,” “You,” and more hits from three of the hottest R&B artists.

Philadelphia native Taalib Johnson, aka Musiq Soulchild, is a soul artist and nine-time GRAMMY® nominee whose unique style blends R&B, soul, funk, rock, blues, jazz and hip-hop. He was introduced to the world with his platinum debut album Aijuswanaseing (I Just Want to Sing), which included the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop single “Just Friends.” His second single, “Love,” spent 22 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and has been described by many as a classic. Musiq Soulchild has been nominated for and received many awards in the music industry, including MTV, the American Music Awards, NAACP, BET and ASCAP.

Born into musical legacy, double GRAMMY® winner Lalah Hathaway is the offspring of musicians Donny Hathaway and Eulaulah Hathaway. She has performed with such greats as Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, Esperanza Spalding, Snoop Dogg, Dianne Reeves, and Christian McBride. Her six studio albums chronicle a journey through R&B, jazz and soul, with inflections of blues, funk, gospel, classical, country and folk.

Newark-born Raheem DeVaughn, a three-time GRAMMY® nominee, has made a career of tapping into people’s emotions by creating personal soundtracks to their love lives, as on his latest album Love, Sex & Passion. His catalog of sultry melodies (“You,” “Woman”) has earned him a loyal fan base through the years, as well as a host of industry accolades.
Tickets start at $59. Purchase tickets HERE.
