Brothers and Sisters:
We are in the middle of Summer 2014 already - and just a scant 5 months away from show down - when we either vote or die - literally.
Did you know that if we each gave $5.00 to each of our Democratic Candidates or the candidates of your choice, that collectively they would have the sufficient funds to wage a campaign against the triple evils of repuglycons, teabaggers and subprime court injustices. If we did it once a week, once every two weeks, or once a month, it would provide the financial wherewithal they need to go forward.
As former fundraiser for the Black United Fund of New York, founded by Kermit Eady, and destroyed by Elliot Spitzer, the organization had for 25 years used this modest method to underwrite programs for Black New Yorkers who could not get funds through other means. It's the same methodology President Barack Obama used for his successful campaign to be elected President TWICE!
I routinely receive communication from candidates, not only during election time, but updates on issues of impact and importance to us as a people. We may not have the financial wherewithal to make huge donations the way the corporations the subprime court has deemed to be the equivalent of human beings do; but collectively we are a mighty force. Additionally, the Koch brothers may have deep pockets, but they only have one vote - we must make sure that they know that our votes are not for sale; and that we are no longer going to be divided and uninformed about who's running, where, and why.
We have to be in it to win it ACROSS THE NATION, as well as in our own state, community, city.
I am posting this information in hopes that you will pitch in your contributions to the candidates below; or any other candidates you may have running in your district.
