CAUSE FOR ALARM AND ACTION - Repuglycon Georgia Secretary of State is Blocking 53,000 Voters

It's really heating up, and the repuglycons are stepping up their dirty tricks - as to be expected.  Which means that we have to step up our game as well.

I am sure no one is surprised by the fact that the gubernatorial candidate is using illegal means to knock voters off.  It's neck and neck between himself and Stacey Abrams - so please make your displeasure known; chip in to defray the costs of legal representation, and Georgia based community groups need to be rallying against this illegal incursion on our freedom and right to vote.

Georgia secretary of state who's running for governor just froze 53K voter registrations, over 90 percent of whom are people of color. I am asking you to chip in $5 to help his Democratic opponent, who could be the first black woman elected governor.

Red alert, GLORIA: Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp, who is the Republican nominee for governor this year, has put the registrations of 53,000 voters on hold—90 percent of whom are people of color. Kemp is using Georgia's "exact match" law to hold up registrations. This extremely strict law gives him the power to hold up registrations on which any letter, character or symbol that doesn't exactly match data from state and federal databases. Lawsuits have already been filed, but the politics of this move are clear: Democrat Stacey Abrams—the first black woman nominated for governor by a major party—is running neck-and-neck with Kemp in the polls, and disqualifying the registrations of 53,000 mostly-black voters could be a blow to her campaign. This a blatant, disgusting move by a Republican with a long history of voter suppression. This is an all-hands-on-deck moment: Fight back against Republican voter disenfranchisement by chipping in $5 to Stacey Abrams now. GLORIA, this is what happens when someone like Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp—who happens to also the Republican candidate for governor—controls access to voting while running for higher office:

Early voting has started this week in Georgia, and voters were met with long lines and hours of waiting. This comes just days after Kemp froze the registrations of 53,000 voters—90 percent of which are from people of color.

Republicans know they can't win elections based on their policies and Brian Kemp is no different. As secretary of state, he is putting his thumb on the scales for his gubernatorial campaign by purging hundreds of thousands off the voter files and putting tens of thousands voter registrations on hold.

Stacey Abrams is on the brink of making history, but she will need our help to turn out every supporter if she's to overcome Brian Kemp's attempts to suppress their vote. Can you give $5 today to help Stacey Abrams win?
