ACTION ALERT: SIGN THE PETITION TO REINSTATE AMBASSADOR ARIKANA CHIHOMBORI AS HEAD OF THE THE AU

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Hello All:
I am posting this entire article - I am so furious at this point at how stupid our African brothers and sisters can be - and this time it's in real time in the 21st century, on camera, in front of our faces!!!

They have been trying to push this fantastic sister out ever since she started trying to move Africa toward progressive independence and autonomy, and away from bootlicking subjects who are still tied to their oppressors.  Moving them away from the feckless fools who have allowed the Chinese to come in and take over their country, instead of using their own ingenuity to consolidate their resources, energies, talents and develop their own countries.
She is who stood in the fray and dared to say that Africans can do whatever it is they put their minds to.  She stood for education, health, nutrition, development - by Africans (and the DIASPORA, for Africans in Africa).

No wonder the enemy wanted her removed.

From the moment I met this wonderful sister, I was  and am totally impressed.  None of her predecessors have the insight, or the fortitude to take the stands she did.  No wonder the Chinese and the euro-oppressors wanted her removed.

Well this should not and must not stand.  And we must make sure they know that we are not only watching, but taking action as well!!!

The removal of Dr. Chihombori-Quao means that she was not only on the right track, but having a major affect on how things were progressing in Africa.  For once the doors were opening between African Americans and Africans, and synergy was not only happening, but progress was being made in terms of IntraAfrican development.

I'm calling on Black Churches, Fraternities, Sororities, Civic organizations, Diasporan organizations, College and university students from Africa as well as here - all our voices matter

So sign the petition - talk it up in your newspapers, look up her record and I'm sure you'll agree that we must demand that they Reinstate Dr. ARIKANA CHIHOMBORI-QUAO AS HEAD OF THE AFRICAN UNION - IMMEDIATELY, IF NOT SOONER!!

I am posting the entire article - please feel free to reprint and share it with those in your sphere of influence.   or copy and paste this link:

Reinstate African Union Ambassador Chihombori-Quao!

African Diaspora Demands Reinstatement Of Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao After Unjust Removal from Office.
After almost a year of persuading her to assume leadership as the African Union (AU) Permanent Ambassador in the United States representing the 55 countries of the Union, Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao accepted the position in December 2016 and has led with courage and vigor in galvanizing peoples of African Descent. Dr. Chihombori-Quao has spoken globally to sensitize and empower all peoples of African Descent to come together and build the “Africa We Want” as adopted in African Union Agenda 2063.

The unification of the African Diaspora as espouded in AU Agenda 2063 is contrary to the Africa that has been marginalized and pillaged through inequitable colonial and post-colonial contracts. Dr. Arikana has been outspoken about neo-colonial maneuverings and exploitation that still exist today. Her dissemination of the truth has garnered her attention and support around the world (you can watch one of her famous speeches published by American journalist, Roland S. Martin, here). You can learn more about Dr. Chihombori-Quao on her Wikipedia page here.

However, not everyone is embracing her bold but honest discourses for effecting change for the betterment of Africa.  On October 7th, 2019, Ambassador Quao was relieved of her position as the “Permanent Ambassador” in a unilateral decision made by the African Union Commission Chairman without any hearing or explanation, and yet presented as representing the opinions of all 55 countries. The questions are: why was she dismissed, or better, who benefits from her removal? Were African heads of states and governments consulted? Who called the shot? Or is Africa, and peoples of African descent, still facing the debilitating effects of modern colonialism or neocolonialism? Leadership based on self-interest and preservation that does not benefit the people they serve is no longer acceptable. Here is a copy of the termination letter.

Dr. Chihombori-Quao was treasured by her African Diaspora and was successful in uniting African people to promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development. She was quite effective in providing access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels just as stated in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  She is a symbol of hope not only for the African Diaspora, but for humankind as we enter this season of justice for all people.

People of African Descent around the world are appalled by Dr. Chihombori-Quao’s unjust dismissal.  Instead of dismantling her movement to liberate the people of African Descent from colonialism and pursue financial freedom, her dismissal has galvanized African Diaspora in the spirit of UBUNTU – I am because you are!

The petition against undue influence and pressure exerted on African leaders and people by the former colonial powers of Europe calls for Dr. Chihombori-Quao’s immediate reinstatement to her position and an apology from the AU Commission. We in the Diaspora were even hoping that Dr Arikana would accept future call for a greater role in the African Union as the African Diaspora continues their journey toward liberation from mental slavery.  Her Excellency, Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao is an effective leader who should be encouraged for her courage and steadfastness, not dismissed.  Who besides her is willing to stand for justice?
We Need Your Support and Signature.

We invite you to share this message and sign the petition.  We demand her reinstatement as well as a formal letter of apology from the African Union Commission. We are petitioning the African presidents and Heads of States to get involved in this matter. The silent majority will no longer be silent as this issue symbolizes the need for equity and justice for all people in Africa, the Americas, and around the world.

GDW ACTION ALERT: SIGN THE PETITION - BACK KAMALA HARRIS - SAVE HEALTH CARE

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson
-->

Hello All:

I'll make this short, sweet, and to the point:  we must sign this petition and all other petitions that come across our desk, internet, or whatever means to protect our rights to health, education, employment and all the other necessities of life. We must take a principled and active stance against repuglycons and their efforts to take us back to the bad old days; we must pass these petitions along to friends, family, foes, and anyone else you can think of and encourage - demand - that they sign as well.

We can't wish D T-rump and his henchmen away - we also can't shake our heads and wonder how he gets away with the crap he and they do.  The only way to stop it is to be hands on involved.  Kamala Harris represents us all - and we can't sit on the sidelines and just wish her luck.

Sign the petition to back Kamala Harris as she backs us in keeping Health Care a right and the law in the US -

The petition was generated from the office of the Honorable John Lewis - he is  as much our Congressman as he is the Congressman for the district he represents in Atlanta, GA.

Click on the link below - sign your name; make your contribution, pass it on - email it to at least 10 friends - or more - and make sure they do the same.

If we all follow this protocol, we will have built a critical mass of supporters - not just for Senator Harris, but for ourselves as well.  And God blesses those who help themselves.

We have to use our power!!

Kamala Harris is FIGHTING BACK against the Republican attacks on health care!

This is not a time for courtesy. This is a time for courage. -Sen. Kamala Harris

Kamala Harris is unwavering in her service to American people. She’s fighting diligently to make sure that the Republican health care bill does NOT pass.

It’s clear Kamala Harris’ Republican colleagues would like her to be courteous and quiet. They don’t want her to to expose their immoral plan to throw millions off their health care coverage.

But Kamala REFUSES to be silenced.
Kamala Harris knows this is a critical moment for our nation’s democracy. And she won’t stop fighting to uncover answers.

Sign your name immediately to stand with Senator Kamala Harris and demand the truth:

TAKE BACK GERMANTOWN HIGH SCHOOL COMMUNITY MEETING SET FOR SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25; Petition to Transform GTOWN HS into Germantown Community Charter School

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Hello All:

What you see before you is a flyer announcing a community meeting that takes place on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25, AT 4:00 pm TO SUPPORT TRANSFORMING THE NOW CLOSED GERMANTOWN HIGH SCHOOL INTO GERMANTOWN COMMUNITY CHARTER SCHOOL

Photo: Stop by just look at the plans and to sign the Petition...

 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In case you're wondering how this came to be, and what you can do to help - here's the story, in brief, that actually chronicles nearly a year of hard work and meetings:
Stalwart Germantown Residents Work to Transform Defunct Germantown High into Germantown Charter School
 By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Almost since it was announced the esteemed old school was being closed, a small group of community stalwarts have been actively working on how to prevent it from happening. If their enthusiasm and dedication could have been bottled, it would have been an energy pill for the entire city of Philadelphia.

However, a melange of community apathy saw their efforts go down in defeat, and indeed the school was closed and put on the chopping block for sale in 2013.

Most others would have been discouraged, and have thrown their hands up in despair by now, but not this steadfast and devoted little cadre of educators, community leaders, activists and artists. Their devotion to the community of Germantown has not been dampened. Even when the SRC turned down their initial proposal to transform the school into a Senior High School which offered Academic and Career educational opportunites in the original building, while transforming the annex building into a combination retail, restaurant, boutique hotel and residential complex, the revenues from which would have been recycled back into the school, to augment teacher salaries as well as provide for equipment, materials and supplies for the students.

Developer, Ken Weinstein, who had worked with them on the plans, had presented the offer to do the development for a minimal amount of funds, if there had been a way to obtain the building from the school board. It was a brilliant and creative concept, which would have reinstated the only high school in Germantown back to the community, and simultaneously provide a broader range of career and academic opportunites for the students.

For some unknown reason, the SRC turned the proposal down.  The group, not to be thwarted by this setback, queried what alternatives there could be to transforming the site, and, in the midst of negotiations were summarily informed that the building had been sold to Concordia College. It was later learned that Concordia did not want the building, but the SRC insisted on their taking it as part of a package deal for obtaining the other buildings they did want.

Even with this new twist of fate, the Germantown High School Coalition – as they have now become known – continued to work. This time, in negotiation with Concordia for a possible lease/purchase of the property, with a view towards possible refinance at the end of a three year period, giving them sufficient time to raise the revenue, while simultaneously providing much needed educational programs in the Germantown community.

Faced now with having to come up with a proposal for a Charter School, which is tentatively named the Germantown Community Charter School, this steadfast crew, headed by Julie S. Carroll, Lisa Hopkins, Sherrine Wilkins, Craig Fulmore, Joe Budd, Vera Primus, Michael Hickson,  Bob Seeley, Gloria Dulan-Wilson, among others,  has been meeting round the clock, all over Germantown, wherever space allowed – but most consistently at Rose Petals Restaurant on Chelten Ave., to hammer out a curriculum, proposal and a plan that will be both innovative, creative, comprehensive, and compliant with the rules set down by the board.

And while they are doing a yeoman's job, they need the help of the community to make it happen. This is no time for apathy, wait and see or negative predictions.  This no time for fence sitting or sidelining.  Our youth, our children need us to take a stand for them - through our signatures, our support, our voice our votes. Our children, our youth are the most precious thing we have - they are 100% of our present and our future.  What we do or don't do now will affect them (and us) for the rest of their lives.

You can sign this petition whether or not you live in Germantown, or have attended Germantown High School.  This goes way beyond territory and strikes at the heart of so many issues assailing our communities as a whole - who does the community belong to? What do you want for your future and the future of your children?  A system that is responsive and respectful of you and your rights?  This is the time to stand up and be counted.

Above and below are copies of  the petition which is being circulated at community and civic gatherings, as well as churches and other places of worship;  it is also on FaceBook Germantown High School Coalition, and can be signed online.

Your support and signatures are urgently needed. We are also looking for letters of support from individuals and community groups that need to be addressed to the School Board. You can either originate your own,  or go on line and register your support for the transformation of Germantown High School into Germantown Community Charter School.

For those who are interested, or who want to become involved in this endeavor, there will be a meeting on Saturday, October 25 at 4:00 PM at THE DANIEL E. RUMPH II RECREATION CENTER (formerly known as the Mallery Recreation Center), Philadelphia, PA (corner of Morton & Johnson St.  Please come out and show your support. Refreshments will be served.

We Support a Charter School in the Germantown High School Building

To be delivered to Charter Schools Office, School District of Philadelphia
Petition Background
In June 2013, the School District of Philadelphia closed Germantown High School and put the property up for sale. The closure hurt students, who were left with fewer school choices, the neighborhood, which lost a beloved institution, and a shopping district poised for revival. It left a spiritual, physical, and emotional gap in the Germantown community.

The Germantown High School Coalition, a partnership of community groups and concerned residents, has been working to fill that gap. We propose a high school serving 1000 students from the neighborhood. Using a project-based approach, the school will provide a strong academic foundation, along with career and technical skills.

We need your support as we apply for recognition as a charter school. Our school would be the major tenant in a restored historic Germantown High School building. With a new school and a transformed building and campus, Germantown High School, now empty and lifeless, can become a center of neighborhood revitalization. - We need 1000 signatures!
