Healing What’s Hurting Our Children
The transforming power of belonging, understanding, respect and love!
At National CARES we are enthusiastically
implementing our programmatic work—now delivered virtually by our
psychologists, social workers, case managers and volunteer mentors.
Though
among the vulnerable we serve in
our group-mentoring format, there have been
incalculable losses: Many children’s caregivers have lost their jobs;
some adults have passed away from the virus. There are children in
households without computers, communities
without broadband service and adults who
feel incapable of providing home-learning support. Students already at
the bottom of the academic-achievement ladder are falling even further
behind. But National CARES is devoted, and
we are nimble! Our work is built to stand in
the center of where the harms of poverty live.
