GDW EVENT ALERT EXTRA: HavServe Gala Celebrates HAITIAN VOLUNTEERISM January 14 in Silver Spring, MD

Hello All:

I am sure that by now you know that Haiti is one of my favorite countries on the planet.  Today, January 12, marks the 7th anniversary of that tragic earthquake in Haiti that killed thousands of people.  Additionally, Haiti suffered an additional setback from the havoc wreaked by Hurricane Matthew, further adding to the devastation.

You also know that I am concerned about the plight of our brothers and sisters in Haiti who continue to suffer from the aftermath  of these natural disasters that have cost the lives of so many of our brothers and sisters.  The efforts to rebuild are still underway, and there is so much more that needs to be done, both there in Haiti, as well as here in the US.    The continued efforts of so many  in the Diaspora who have devoted their time and energy to rolling their sleeves up and helping them get the job done must not be ignored.

I just received a press release from an organization that I have just become aware of that has been in effect for the past six years focusing on Haiti's recovery -   HavServe!!

HavServe is based in Silver Spring, MD, and has apparently been working diligently, out of the limelight of newspaper headlines and government mandates to assist Haiti in building and healing.

I am sharing their information with you, as well as the invitation to participate in a gala/fundraiser which takes place this weekend in Silver Spring, MD.  So mark your calendars and plan to attend.  Also share this with other brothers and sisters or constituencies who might be interested and able to attend.

Thanks and
Stay Blessed &
ECLECTICALLY BLACK
