West York, PA Mayor Who Posted Images Insulting to President Obama on Social Media Must Resign, Immediately, if Not Sooner!

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Hello All:

"ANOTHER  RED NECK REPUGLYCONS REARS HIS UGLY HEAD IN WEST YORK, PENNSYLVANIA  - ERSATZ MAYOR WACKO WASCO TRIES TO INSULT PRESIDENT OBAMA" was going to be the original headline of this post.  Now, I know this is not a politically correct headline - but I thought that in this instance, one bad deed deserved another.  And, I know it would have been a departure from our beloved first lady, Michelle Obama's policy of going  high, when the lunatic fringe goes low.

But in this instance, I thought, someone needs to just take a stand for President Obama, and put these ignorant folks on notice:  We don't and won't roll over and play dead or turn the other cheek when you attack one of ours.  And while President Barack Obama is indeed the president of all these United States, and deserves the allegiance and respect of all American citizens; he is still one of ours!!  And, quite frankly, I was furious that this idiot thought it was okay to do something like this in the first place.

That said,  I finally cooled off, thought better of it and put a slightly less incendiary headline on my blog.  LOL  The one you see at the top is the original headline.  Didn't want it to go to waste.

it is even more insipid, heinous, and egregious when an individual, who has been elected to represent a community, turns out to be ignorant, unprofessional, racist, and divisive.  That is a person who belongs somewhere in the back hills of the Appalachians, not in a position or authority or responsibility.  It does not matter if his community has 1 or 100,000 residents - his reprehensible behavior is an affront to the President, and an embarrassment to his constituents,  all that he is supposed to represent.

We are more than well aware of the racist behaviors and attitudes of the repuglycon party (hence the new appellation I gave them 8 years ago:  Rep = repugnant + ugly = well, UGLY +  con = con artists - thus the new name of the Republican party is now repuglycon with a lower case "r"), after they made it clear that they were going to try to  make President Obama's term a one-term presidency; and that they were going to oppose everything he did, no matter how correct or important it was for the American public.  It appears that they have spoors scattered throughout the US - particularly in Pennsylvania - from the lowest level - such as Wacko Wasko, - to the ersatz US Senator, Toomey, who has done little to benefit the Pennsylvania constituents who have consistently voted to return him to DC, where he continues to block legislation that would benefit the state.

That is why I am so proud of Pennsylvania State Representative Vanessa Lowery Brown, president of the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus for taking action and making the concerns and displeasure of the caucus known.  Likewise, State Representative Kevin Schreiber, of York, PA, who came forth to voice his disdain for such insipid behavior.

The sad thing about this is that he's been flying low under the radar posting these racist images for quite some time.  If you read the article below, you'll find that he posted some of his commentaries on FaceBook as far back as February!  This is a clear indication that he felt that he could be as bold as he wanted to be and no one would either notice or care; and that there would be little to no consequences - after all, he's an ersatz "mayor."

What's needed, now, however, is the demand for Wasko's resignation from office, immediately, if not sooner, and replacement with an individual who truly represents the interests of the community regardless of who they are.  Additionally, he should apologize to President Obama, the First Lady as well.

The following is the press release I received from representative Brown, followed by the reprehensible article that wacko Wasko posted on Face Book and other social media.  It's clear that when communities elect miscreants such as this one, they either don't care, they did not appropriately vet him to make sure he was intelligent, sane and competent; or they are so mired in their repuglycon loyalty that they'd rather scrape the bottom of the barrel and come up with scum, than to put some one in the position that will do them honor, and expand the mission of the community - SMH

This is all the more reason why we have to vote HILLARY CLINTON for president, but also make sure we focus on local elections in our communities as well.  We have to make a clean sweep and get these throwbacks to neanderthal mentalities out of office - from dog catcher, to school board, to mayors, to governors, to US House of Representatives to US Senate - they gotta go!!!

IT'S TRULY TIME TO TAKE OUT THE TRASH!!

PLBC looks for action against West York mayor for racist posts

HARRISBURG, Oct. 3 – State Rep. Vanessa Lowery Brown, D-Phila., chairwoman of the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus, and the PLBC membership expressed anger and disappointment over recent social media posts made by West York Borough Mayor Charles Wasko.

Wasko has made recent posts to his personal Facebook account depicting monkeys or chimps as residents of the White House, a picture of a noose reserved for "Barry," Muslim guide dogs wearing burkas, Nazis and gun control, and more.
"These posts, from a duly elected public official, are just one more example of how low racial tolerance has fallen in too many communities," Brown said. "Elected officials are responsible for all their constituents, not just some, based on race, sex, religion or political viewpoint."

State Rep. Kevin Schreiber, D-York, who represents West York as part of his district, added, "It's hard to believe York has made national attention for such disgusting reasons. Foremost, the comments of one do not reflect the beliefs of the many. Hateful propaganda is unwelcome by any elected official and certainly in York County. Nor can anyone hide such hate speech under some perverse umbrella as 'politically incorrect' or 'telling it like it is.' It is hateful. It is racist. It is divisive. It is a contributing factor to the polarization fragmenting our society. Finally, it's not representative of West York or York County. It only hurts and impedes our ability to succeed as a region and as a diverse community. It is the legacy of angry, bigoted speech and rhetoric that is so quickly and casually spewed and circulated today."

Brown said, "The PLBC will be actively pursuing any and all legal avenues to ensure that Mayor Wasko, and any other elected officials in the commonwealth be held to a higher standard in their public comments. We are currently discussing all our options with legal experts as to the best way to proceed in holding the mayor accountable for his hateful postings.

"In the meantime, the PLBC supports the West York community's call that Mayor Wasko resign immediately."

I generally don't reprint  such ignorance - but in this instance, I will make a slight exception:

West York mayor asked to resign for racist Facebook posts
The Associated Press Published: September 29, 2016, 1:26 pm Updated: September 29, 2016, 7:41 pm

YORK, Pa. (AP) – The mayor of a tiny central Pennsylvania town is being asked to resign over racist posts on his Facebook page, including two depicting apes with captions referring to President Barack Obama and his family, and one referring to lynching.
One image on the Facebook page of West York Mayor Charles Wasko is of a wagon or wheelbarrow full of orangutans June 18, including the caption, “Aww … moving day at the Whitehouse has finally arrived.” The wheelbarrow has the slogan “Kenya or bust” on it.
Another picture of a grinning chimpanzee doesn’t have a caption, but a comment posted on the mayor’s page on Feb. 14 says, “Most think it is Obama’s picture……sorry its Moochelles baby photo” — an apparent reference to First Lady Michelle Obama.
A Feb. 5 post, showing actor Clint Eastwood peering through a hangman’s noose in what appears to be a movie still from the 1960s, has the caption, “Barry, This rope is for you. You wanna bring that empty chair over here!”
Wasko was elected mayor of the borough of roughly 4,500 residents about 100 miles west of Philadelphia in 2013. Running unopposed as a Republican, he tallied 202 votes, against 78 write-in ballots for others.
Council members on both sides of the political aisle called for Wasko to resign after the York Dispatch first reported the posts Wednesday, as did Sandra Thompson, who heads the NAACP based in nearby York, a separate city that serves as the county seat. She said the posts were “obviously ignorance and racism.”
“Now that York NAACP has been made aware, we will be seeking to take action, because his obvious bias against black people has an effect on all his constituents, which he seems to forget includes black people,” Thompson said.
The borough’s population was roughly 86 percent white in the 2010 census and 12 percent black.
Wasko didn’t respond to a Facebook message from The Associated Press and wasn’t answering his home telephone Thursday. Reached by the York Daily Record on Wednesday night, Wasko dismissed the concerns as something “that’s going on up at the borough office” — using a vulgar term in place of “something.”
Wasko isn’t paid as mayor and votes only to break ties on the council. But he also oversees the police department in the borough, where the acting chief, Matthew Millsaps, said he was “disturbed” by the images.
“This in no way reflects the ideology of this department,” Millsaps said, noting the department has a Hispanic man and black woman among its eight officers.
Council president Shawn Mauck said he doesn’t know what to say about the posts. “I kind of want to throw up,” Mauck said.
Councilwoman Shelley Metzler was more blunt, saying, “I would punch him in the mouth if I could get away with it.”
The council members plan to ask Wasko to resign at their next meeting on Monday.

Interesting - the City Council plans to "ask him to resign  at their next meeting on Monday" - they should have been at his door as soon as this became evident, taken away his seal, and fired his sorry behind on the spot.  They should demand his resignation immediately, if not sooner!!  Why wait?  That kind of piddling around is what they do when they are trying to not do the right thing, but know that they are now under scrutiny.  It's the kind of piddling the police do when a white officer kills an unarmed  Black man -  they allow him to vacillate, come up with some b.s. excuse, or bogus contrition statement - and then drag it out until they think no one is watching.

That one was busted, but unfortunately, there are far too many others who are closet racists (or blatant ones) who go unchecked and unconsequenced.  Kudos to the PBLC for being on  top of this as soon as the info and evidence became available.

NOW THAT YOU KNOW, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?
MAKE SURE THEY KICK HIS SORRY BEHIND OUT OF OFFICE!!

Stay Blessed &
ECLECTICALLY BLACK
