SAVE THE DATE: NOVEMBER 1, 2015 BURLINGTON-CAMDEN KAPPAS HONOR GLORIA DULAN-WILSON AS AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN ACHIEVER

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Hello All:

I am so excited, elated, honored, and, yes, surprised that Kappa Alpha Psi's Burlington Camden Chapter has selected me to be one of the honorees of this year's African American Achiever Award Ceremony, on Sunday, November 1st.

It kind of took my breath away for a moment, because I was scanning my brain to see what it was that I had achieved.   There are some other heavy hitters there who are being honored as well, so I take nothing for granted in the fact that they are very serious and careful about who they select.

So before I go any further, I want to publicly thank the brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi for this great honor.  THANK YOU!!

And I want to invite you to please come, be witness to this event, enjoy the wonderful food, hospitality, and atmosphere, at one of the most spectacular banquet halls ever: Auletto's  Catering, located at  1849 Cooper St, Deptford Township, NJ 08090; Phone:(856) 227-3800.

The tickets, which go to support their education and development programs, are $65.00 per person, which includes food, entertainment and an open bar.  The food, by the way, is excellent.  I attended last year for a friend who was being honored.  Little did I realize that I would be coming back again this year in my own behalf.

This is so wonderful!

A little bit about Kappa Alpha Psi for those of you who are unfamiliar with who they are and their accomplishments.  They are a Black Fraternity founded in 1911 at Indiana University, by a group of young Black menwho bonded together to use their education to uplift the community and to support each other through the rigors of attending a Midwest University, amidst the racial strife that was prevalent at the time.  They are now 160,000 members strong, with 720 chapters world wide.

The Bulington-Camden Alumni Chapter was chartered on April 12, 1969, and has been in the process of mentoring, providing charitable support for the community, and local schools.  They organized to form a nonprofit arm in 2002, and the Kappa Community Development Corporation was awarded tax exempt status in 2003.

The organization sponsors a mentoring program called the Gide Right Program, with each chapter establishing its own curriculum.  Programs include college tours, financial aid workshops, group bonding events, life skill sessions; they also provide school supplies, Thanksgiving meals, Christmas toys as well as regular food donation drives.

The African American Women Achievers Banquet is now in its 12th year.  It has been one of the most successful events hosted by the Fraternity, and serves to underwrite a great many of their programs.

In addition to the ticket sales, they are developing a journal, with ads and well wishes from businesses, families and friends.

If you are interested in tickets, I have ten to sell personally, so please feel free to contact me via my email address gloriadulanwilson@gmail.com, and put TICKETS in the subject line;
or you can contact Mr. Richard Williams, President of the Chapter, at his email, williamsr06@comcast.net, for tickets as well.

To take out an ad in their journal, please complete the form below and email it or snail mail it back to them. They will be more than happy to email or quote you rates for ads - unfortunately, I was not tech savvy enough to duplicate it for this blog - sorry about that folks.  But please do support this wonderful organization - and me - in an effort to make things better in our communities.
