Representative W. Curtis Thomas |
“Everyone
must have health insurance by March 31, 2014 or face penalties,”
explained Thomas. “Many folks need health insurance but don’t
know how to navigate the website or are confused when it comes to
choosing a plan. That’s why we’ve arranged for onsite enrollment
assistance for those who need help. Don’t miss this opportunity!”
RHD
will have staff available to enroll people onsite. If you want to
enroll at the workshop you must bring the following information:
- Social Security numbers (or document numbers for legal immigrants)
- Employer and income information for every member of your household who needs coverage (for example, from pay stubs or W-2forms—Wage and Tax Statements)
- Policy numbers for any current health insurance plans covering members of your household.
Those who want to be enrolled at
the workshop should contact Natalie Davis at 215/560-3261
to register for enrollment. Space is limited.
The important thing about this is that if you either don't have a computer, or don't understand the differences between market rate and the special subsidized insurance programs, this will help you make the right decision. So make sure you bring ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS, and get it done.

Now many of us have seen Dick Gregory and Paul Mooney perform, but we have never seen them perform TOGETHER. I actually don't know if we can stand both of them, at the same time, in the same place on the same stage - all that comedy, coupled with all that wisdom, compounded with all that Blackness - Philly, I said it before, and it bears repeating: You had better bring the duct tape, you're going to need it to keep your sides from splitting. January 11, 2014 NACA HOLDS GALA - It's time to celebrate!! NACA, which stands for the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America - was out there fighting the good fight for equitable, affordable home ownership long before the bubble burst and everybody ran for cover. I "discovered" them seven years ago when my constituents for the program I headed up in Brooklyn, were losing their homes at an alarming rate - that was 2007. They came in to Brooklyn and did what the other organizations were not able to do, save homes, and save sanity at the same time. It's no secret that they are my absolutely favorite organization of all times, because what they do is tangible and real. Those of you in the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and DC areas - whether you've benefited from NACA in the past, or are looking to be involved with them in the future, certainly ought to be at the Gala this Saturday, January 11.

NACA is celebrating more than two decades of making the dream of
homeownership a reality and redefining the way
lending is done in America. As a non-profit community advocacy and
homeownership organization with the active participation of over one
million members, NACA continues to set the national standard in
providing affordable homeownership. We come together to
commemorate the hundreds of thousands of homeowners and homebuyers who,
through NACA, have been able to realize the dream of affordable
homeownership; and the extraordinary 130 American Dream Events over the
past five years. These accomplishments would not have
been possible without the active participation of our members, partners
and supporters.
During the gala we will be announcing the American Dream Events for 2014 as well as our new initiatives and campaigns for economic justice. T
This
formal event (Black Tie optional) dinner and celebration with over one
thousand attendees will be an evening to
remember, with delectable food, and dancing into the night. We will be
joined by celebrities, dignitaries, regulators, industry leaders, civil
rights leaders and other special guests. It is our distinct honor to
celebrate NACA’s tremendous success with you.

PLEASE NOTE: This gala is also the kick off of NACA's Annual Meeting week in Washington during
which they will be visiting all the Members of
Congress, the following Tuesday, January 14 and Wednesday, January 15. For those interested in participating in these conferences, please contact Daniel Perez Lacera at 617-250-6222 ext. 1218 or email
dperez@naca.com; or convention@naca.com. The issue of affordable housing, predatory lending, foreclosure prevention, and other viable concerns are more important than ever. It behooves all of us to be in the forefront of making sure that Congress does not take for granted the seriousness with which the American people regard these concerns.
NOTE: For those of you who are not familiar with NACA, or are trying to find out about a NACA affiliate in your area, log on to www.naca.com.
