Hello All: 

This is an special Event Alert Extra for a sister/friend who has devoted her life developing the talent of Philadelphia's youth - Lisa Hopkins.  

A descendent of Liberian Heritage, Lisa is a Philadelphia native who uses her time, talents, and creativity writing plays and musicals for local youth.

You may or may not realize that Philadelphia is one of the biggest incubators of Black Talent on the planet - Patti LaBelle, Will Smith, Kevin Hart, the Late Teddy Pendergrass, Kenny Gamble, the late Phyllis Hyman, Paul Robeson, Jill Scott, Eve, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Chubby Checker, Stanley Clark, McCoy Tyner, Clara Ward, Bill Cosby, Questlove - among many others - grew up and honed their skills right in Philadelphia, and then proceeded to astound and fascinate the world.

Many of them got their start as support through a program such as Camp Kama Sahlor for Performing Arts, which was founded by Lisa nearly 10 years ago.    

You now have the opportunity to be a part of the launching of yet another Star Career from Philly.

So mark your calendars and make your reservations for

 performed by youth ages 6 through 16 years old.

AUGUST 9th SANKOFA FESTIVAL

South Philadelphia will come alive with the spirit of Ghana when the Philadelphia Asante (Ashanti) Nation, in association with the Agogo World Wide Association celebrate the 2014 Sankofa Festival, 12 noon - 6:00PM, Saturday, August 9 at 5^th & Snyder Avenue. The festival is a celebration of the Ashanti/Akan culture in the Delaware Valley and the African cultural heritage of Africans born in America, Ghana, and the African Diaspora.
