Gloria Yesterday, President Biden gave a speech in Philadelphia where he acknowledged the all out assault on voting rights we have experienced since the “Big Lie” began - and as some states work tirelessly to implement Jim Crow-era voter suppression laws. President Biden reaffirmed his commitment to restore voting rights. But a commitment is not enough when the stakes are this high. We need a strategy. In his 20 minute speech the President never mentioned the filibuster once, despite the massive threat it poses to voting rights and other key legislation. The Biden administration has already used its power to push massive pieces of legislation, such as pandemic relief and infrastructure spending packages. We’re calling on the President to put that same power and momentum behind TRULY protecting our voting rights by working to pass HR1 and HR4 by any means - even if it means ending the Senate filibuster.
