Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Turns Philly Red – and it's a good thing!

Get ready Philly!!

You are about to be visited by the most dynamic Sorority on the Planet when The Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated hosts more than 5,000 Sorors converge on the City of Sisterly Affection and Brotherly Love for their 54th Annual Eastern Regional Convention.

Newly minted Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter President, Kimberly Lloyd, who literally hit the ground running with less than two months bring this event into fruition is to be commended for a job well done. The recently elected PAC Chapter President had the herculean task of coordinating this massive undertaking. Talk about trial by fire!

Yet more than five thousand DST Sorors are registered to attend the convention in person; while thousands more will be watching via livestream as the worlds largest African American Sorority comes together to set their agenda for the year forward. And with all that she still manages to maintain her poise.

Spoiler Alert: I am a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, celebrating my 41st Deltaversary. Another spoiler alert – I am also a proud member of the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter – Yay Me!!

Central to all the activities of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority world wide in International President Elsie Cooke Holmes.  She has attended each and every one of the Regional  Meetings throughout the US.  Now that's both a labor of love and dedication.

This massive undertaking – labor of love - is also the result of the collaborative efforts of the three major Delta Sigma Theta chapters in the Philadelphia area: Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter, Quaker City Alumnae Chapter, Valley Forge Alumnae Chapter – over 1200 members combined, with Philadelphia Alumnae being the largest, having over 800 members proving that old saying “teamwork definitely makes the dreamwork.”

So over the next four days, you will see beautiful African American women sporting their emblematic colors of Creme and Crimson everywhere, and you'll know you're among royalty.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated in the largest African American Sorority, founded on solid principles of being of service in humanitarian and educational programs everywhere we go. So for the next few days as they conduct the business of the Sorority, you will also find this congenial group of women in Philly's restaurants, department stores and many other venues throughout Philadelphia – and you will know that you are being visited by Royalty. As a Sorority that focuses on social issues, the wellbeing the communities in which they live thrive and grow, their focus on educational and academic excellence, please realize that this has been mission for over 111 years, and will continue to be so, as they expand their efforts in a world that seems to have slightly gone off kilter.

In the midst of world confusion, the Sorors of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority have been a beacon of calm, working with local and national factors, who are integrally involved in the governance or our country. As with the rest of the Divine Nine, Delta is set to expand their next steps in being of service locally and nationally. thru the many stellar members who are already making their mark on the world, including such luminaries as: Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, Journalists: April Ryan and Joy Reid; Philadelphia's first woman mayor The Hon. Cherelle Parker, former Philadelphia City Council Rep Blondell Reynolds Brown, former Secretary of HUD Marcia L. Fudge, first female US Senator ; and our trailblazers Dorothy I. Height, and first Black woman to run for US President, Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, Barbara Jordan, and first US Senator Carol Moseley Braun; Actresses:  Sheryl Lee Ralph, Angela Bassett, among others. This is but a small representation among many who have exemplified the principals of this stellar Sorority.

Of course you know that I can go on and on about the virtues and values of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated – but at this juncture just allow me to say that whenever two or more Deltas come together for any reason, you have to know that they are definitely up to something Good.

ECLECTICALLY BLACK NEWS WISHES THE SORORS OF DELTA SIGMA THETA INCORPORATED's EASTERN REGION A HAPPY, POWERFUL, POSITIVE,  and SUCCESSFUL CONVENTION!
