Well, after all these months of waiting for the other shoe to drop, it's finally happened. Kevin McCarthy has been ousted as the ersatz Speaker of the House by alleged pedophile Matt Gaetz - no doubt an effort by Gaetz to take the focus off of his own transgressions. And what was the reason? The fact that even McCarthy had enough "humanity" and common sense to not throw America into chaos via shutting down the economy and causing devastation and privation for millions of Americans - many of whom were their own constituents. While Congress "earns" a comfortable $174,000 a year, most of us are sadly well below that level, and could ill-afford to miss even one day of income, benefits, or services.
This political brinksmanship of shutting down the economy that has been the methodology of repuglycons to bully Democrats to defund programs that are beneficial for Americans, so that they can continue to line the pockets of their backers, has become their standard operating procedure. Oddly enough, Dems did not use these nefarious tactics, even while dealing with the most degenerate individual to ever cross the threshhold of the White House - T-rump - whose degenerate practices are still causing chaos and disorder to this day.
This is the critical difference between the two parties - repuglycons have become known for their greed and avarice and support for those who are more likely to find ways of dodging the responsibilities of looking out for their constituents in favor of looking out for the predatory rich! Now don't get me wrong, not all rich people are predatory, or bad. Where would the world be without philanthropists who use part of their wealth to help those less fortunate? But there has existed a nefarious group who look to use their wealth as a means of power to dominate and control - T-rump being one of them - and manipulate the political landscape to enact laws and programs that underwrite their greed and undermine our well being. Sadly, by allowing T-rump to become an ersatz president, via trickery, lies and deceit, that we now have one of the most corrupt House of Representatives and Subprime Court in the modern history of the US. The sad thing is that Americans appear to have lost their moral compass - there appears to be an acceptance for these kinds of underhanded behaviors. There also appears to be more support for idiot, liars, and violators of ethics in the current 21st century - something that would have been unthinkable just two decades ago.
Perhaps common sense temporarily hit McCarthy with the message that such a move to shut down the economy just prior to an election year would be total disaster - considering that many of them are up for re-election. Perhaps he realized that at least 2/3 of those who call themselves repuglycons, who are living in the backwoods of many states, and rely on the benefits they were purporting to curtail, would be thoroughly pissed - not to mention detrimentally effected - by any of the cuts they were proposing. Perhaps he realized that, while there were deep purse strings pulling the puppets, they were not enough to give a majority vote if Mr. & Mrs. Bubba's food stamps, social security, medicare, medicaid, or other benefits were curtailed.
Whatever!! McCarthy just could not pull the trigger. Thank goodness! However, the rabid repuglycons that always had a knife at his back from the beginning, when it took 15 tries for him to actually wrest the title of "Speaker" from other more deserving leaders (HAKEEM JEFFRIES), who know their mission and responsibility are to America first, last and always.
Frankly, I am an advocate for having all members of Congress - especially those in the repuglycon party - undergo psychiatric evaluation at the beginning of each term - starting with Marjorie Taylor Green, Matt Gaetz, Mitch McConnell, Kennedy and others are clearly on the lunatic fringe - and take sadistic pleasure pleasure in watching children starve, or who are only there for the title, not for the mission, or responsibility (oops! sorry, did I omit Lauren Boebert? Ma baaad!!).
Clearly these individuals have only been elected for the hefty salary they are receiving, as well as the fact that they sold their souls to Big Pharma, Koch Brothers, and other lobbyists and manipulators who use America like their own personal ping-pong game. They are the ones who made it big by overinflating the costs of essential medications - such as insulin - while those who depended on it went into debt trying to stay alive. They are the ones who are furious because President Biden's inflation reduction program - a/k/a BIDENOMICS - has exposed them, and simultaneously reduced the costs of essential medications to manageable prices - saving thousands of American lives, while putting money back into the pockets of struggling American families. They are the ones the repuglycon party is supporting over the needs and benefits of millions of Americans.
So I am sitting here watching the other shoe drop - the meltdown of a party of degenerates who have taken the Constitution and used it as their own personal toilet paper. These are the ones who pacled the Supreme Court with racists so that it is now the subprime court of injustices. They have actually reverted to their original posture during the 18th, 19th and mid-20th centuries - you remember, the bad old days before Thurgood Marshall became the first Black Supreme Court Justice in the 1960s. The current subprime court of today is more like that in the era of injustice Roger B. Taney, who said that a Black man had no rights that a white man was bound to respect. They are operating hand in glove with the degenerate Repuglycon congress members and are colluding with them in the destruction of rights and freedoms of Americans worldwide. I think that some of those in the backwoods who count themselves as members of the Repuglycon Party forget that the knives that are cutting our rights, are cutting against them as well.
While I have several friends and associates who work in the DC area, who were hunkering down for what threatened to be a long, drawn out period of privation, somehow I didn't expect it to manifest. Did that mean I expected President Biden to cave in? Helllllll NO! Not by a long shot - Nor did I expect a "miracle." But I did think that somewhere in the midst of all the madness was a glimmer of common sense. It came to me during the Friday, September 29 press conference as the right wingnut press was trying to grill White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre (who just received a Phoenix Award from the Congressional Black Caucus for her professionalism and calm in the face of insane right wingnut pseudo journalist fascist grilling).
If you've not watched a press conference with Ms. Jean-Pierre presiding, you absolutely must check it out. It's not on Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime! It's definitely not on Fox Faux news. But YouTube usually carries it. In fact, if you aren't up to date on what's going on in DC and the DMV beltway, you are probably watching the wrong channels. Check out YouTube! You'll be so proud to find out that President Biden, Vice President Harris, as well as others in the cabinet are really taking care of business - and those soundbytes are an attempt to keep you from knowing what's going on! As the questions from the poison right wing press continue to ask insipid questions, Jean-Pierre is grace under pressure and continues to reiterate - as she had done over the past several months - that there was an active agreement in place between President Biden and the Congress to avert a shut down; emphasizing that it had already been worked out and signed by both parties. She also indicated that the Repuglycons should stick to their agreement. While they kept repeating the same questions, she did not blink, stammer, stutter, equivocate - regardless of how many times different reporters asked the same dumb thing. Good thing I wasn't the press secretary - I would have shouted: "What part of "NO!" do you not understand, you dip wad!?!"
I would then follow up by asking "Where the sam hill did you go to journalism school?" or "Just because you ask the same stupid question doesn't mean I'm going to change my answer."
Kudos to Karine Jean-Pierre for being so unflappable and professional!!
The other thing I wanted to highlight, however, is how ignorant we currently are about the Constitution of the United States. It is no longer being taught in school; it's been given out in soundbytes; this has lead to an entire population of functionally illiterate Americans who want to have things done via fantasy than by the rules which allegedly governs this country. Adults and youth born after 1966 are clueless as education began to be dumbed down more and more. By the time Reagan became President, history, geography, science, even English literature were no longer taught in the United States School System - only sound bytes and muppets were routinely used, supplanting key pillars of education.
In his farewell interview as speaker, Kevin McCarthy compared Putin to Hitler - when the actual comparison is between T-rump and Hitler.
Now to the situation at hand: Congress is off for a week - no doubt so we don't have to witness a repeat of the insipid debacle that took place during the mid-term when they were battling it out over the speaker appointment. Frankly, I hope many of those of the repuglycon party are now fed up with the maga maggot residual mentality and are now ready to get down to the business of representing the people. If they are, it means that they will coalesce with the Dems and name Hakeem Jeffries the next speaker of the house. IJS!!
If is clear that the repuglycons have not, nor will ever be, looking out for the best interest of their constituents, or the country. In so stating, this means that it's really up to us to make them do their job, or vote them the heck out of office.
McCarthy is now officially out as speaker of the House. He alleges that in the end he voted for the country because he could not bring himself to say to the troops that he was not going to pay their salaries. He concluded that when it came to making decisions, it would always be for the country - wow!!! His characterization of Matt Gaetz always being out for his own self interests, can also be applied to the majority of the repuglycons currently in office.
In looking over what McCarthy did in calling off the shutdown, I have to give him kudos for making the right decision, instead of the right wingnut decision. Look carefully at all those in his party who are castigating him for not pulling the trigger - those are the ones you want to be sure not to vote for in any upcoming election. Make sure you look carefully at those who are now complaining about not shutting down the government - and then look at what, or whether, they've done anything for you during their tenure in office. If not, those are the ones you want to make sure you don't return them in the upcoming elections. Notice, I'm not endorsing returning McCarthy to Congress either. Rather, I'm saying it's high time we really do our homework, reclaim our power, educate each other, and bring back our power to make the country and representatives live up to the ideal this country is based on - this time in reality, not just on paper.
I also have to say shame on you in advance to any American for voting in any upcoming election upcoming for any repuglycons who put you and the country last behind their selfish, personal interests. We all deserve better - but we won't get it if we continue to support those who deal from the bottom of the deck, or if we sit back and let our votes and our rights get flushed down the crapper in Mar A Lago. Just remember that everything the repuglycons touch turn to shit. Which is why he thought it was okay to keep secret papers in his toilet in Florida. It's why Ron Insanity governor of Florida thinks it's okay to try to destroy education because he thinks it will keep people from knowing the truth. It's why Matt Gaetz thinks that he can divert people's attention from his cradle robbing propinquity by taking the "lead" on forcing McCarthy to step down. If this is acceptable to you, you're pretty effing pathetic. And if you are in favor of T-rump being the speaker with 94 indictments against him you are indeed a masochist. (sadly there's actually a population who find this acceptable - SMH)
Sorry maggot magas, but you have to forgive us if we don't intend to join you in the destruction of our government and our country - we're not following you down that path - we're invoking the 14th Amendment, registering to vote, educating each other, and drawing a line in the sand. It's time to take out the trash.
