If It's Wednesday, it must be time for Wake Up and Stay Woke on WPFW.FM 89.3 or www.wpfw.org with Dr. EFaye Williams who never fails to bring African American of Action to our Attention. This is the beginning of Women's History Month - or the extension of Black History Month - with a focus of Black Women.
We need to continue to honor the works and legacies of our brothers and sisters, while making our own contribution as well. We are as much a part of BLACK HISTORY as those who have been highlighted in th newspapers, and written in the history books.
It doesn't mean being bystanders and sideliners, it means being proactive - whether in large epochmaking efforts, or in your own day to day interactions and inspirations we make as examples to our peers, our children, our neighbors, our community. We have started a momentum by exercising our rights and taking principled stands - this is no time to rest on our laurels; this is the time to keep moving forward.
This is one of the reasons Dr. EFaye Williams program, Wake Up & Stay Woke, is so essential - she is dedicated to providing us opportunities to learn about other Black men and women who have taken their ordinary lives and tried to make them into extraordinary contributions to the world.
The show is appropriately dedicated to the memory of DICK GREGORY - who devoted his life to Waking us up to the truth, and making sure we stay Woke and not take anything for granted.
