GDW EVENT ALERT: AALUPA to Host Dr. Brenda Allen at First Alumni Association Meeting January 28 - BE THERE!

By Gloria DULAN-Wilson

Hello All:

Greetings to all my fellow Lincoln Alumni!

It is so great to be greeting you on the other side of 2020 - now in 2021 and to look back at all we've done over the past year.

We've so much to be thankful for - we have a new President in the personage of Joe Biden!  We have the first ever female,

African American Vice President, and HBCU graduate, and a member of  Alpha Kappa Alpha - one of the most prestigious Sororities,  Kamala Harris!

Lincoln University has been the recipient of one of the largest and most generous contributions from a single individual in the amount of $20 Million Dollars - as a marvelous pre-Christmas gift.

How wonderful and how exciting.

And most important and significant of all is the fact that, WE, over 15,000 Lincoln University Alumni, came together to protect and reinstate our beloved Alumna and President, Dr. Brenda Allen from the assaults and nefarious machinations of a Board of mis-trustees who had gone off the rails and had put personal interest and greed ahead of the best interest of our Alma Mater!

Our unity, our devotion, our dedication let to our ultimate defeat of their efforts, and  the triumphant return of Dr.  Brenda Allen to her righteous place as President of Lincoln.  This is both epic and heroic.  Without her at the helm, none of the foregoing would have happened.  And because of her, we are rising in the realm of HBCUs.

Without her love and dedication for Lincoln University, we would not have come through the Covid Pandemic and given hundreds of freshmen students, as well as upper class students the vital education they need, and set them on their paths to continued greatness.

So, starting the year off right, the AALUPA is hosting Dr. Brenda Allen as our guest of honor for our first meeting of 2021 - Virtually, of course.  We'd all collectively love to give her a big hug and a show of gratitude for all she's done to and for Lincoln.

However, since that's not possible, we're asking everyone to kick in  a contribution so we can present her with a special gift.

We'd set a goal of $3,000 - but also realize that this has been a tough year all around.  So we're asking you to please be as generous as

you possibly can so that we can demonstrate our love and appreciation for Dr. Allen.

As I am sure you are well aware, Philadelphia has the largest number of Lincoln Alumni living in and around the city.
At least 6,000 of you make up the population - not to mention those in the surrounding communities and counties.
We all owe Lincoln so much for what we've accomplish and what we've yet to accomplish, and it would be truly embarrassing to know that you had the opportunity to contribute to your Alma Mater in some small or significant way and didn't do so.
It's obvious that the awareness of the contributions of HBCUs to the quality of life and the very fabric of this nation is being recognized.  But what would it look like if those who actually attended those very HBCUs - especially our Alma Mater, LINCOLN UNIVERSITY
the first ever degree granting University in the world - did not make it our priority to support and make our contributions.
