Hello All:
For those of you who are on limited budgets, or have not had the opportunity to shop for necessity, the City of Philadelphia is providing food packages free to the community
The City of Philadelphia and the Share Food Program will give out free boxes of food - one per household - between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Monday, April 6 and Thursday, April 9 at food sites across the city.
You don’t need to bring ID or proof of income. Just show up, and the
City will provide a five-day supply of food that you can take home to
make meals for your family.
The locations in the Second District giving out free food this week (week of April 6) are:
#Giving Heart Ministries, 6506 Elmwood Ave, 19142,
#Young Chances, 2703 Tasker Street, 19145
#Wharton Square Playground, 2300 Wharton Street
Another location is SEAMACC, 1711 South Broad Street, 19148. SEEMAC is located in the First District and services constituents from the Second District living in South Philadelphia.
It is recommended that people waiting for the Food Boxes arrive as early as possible to receive a box, It is first come, first served a all locations.
Mayor Jim Kenney this weekend said if a resident can't leave their home and does not have the means to order food via delivery, they can reach out via email to volunteer@phila.gov to have a box of food delivered.
Check www.phila.gov often for an up-to-date list of food sites.
Don’t forget to text COVIDPHL to 877-777 to receive free updates from the City.
Stay safe and please stay home -- unless you’re getting food or medical care, or must go to work.
