By Gloria Dulan-Wilson
Hello All:
It's November - we've weathered the Mid-Term Elections - two of our most hotly contested elections rest on whether or not our candidates are able to make the law work the way it's supposed to or if the meanstream racists are able to prevail with their tactics of voter suppression and illegal purges - We have to be vigilant and make sure that they emerge victorious - which means those voters in Georgia and Florida who were illegally purged have to come together in a class action suit to have their votes counted and honored. It may take some legal muscle - so those who have the deep pockets to underwrite the backing that Stacey Abrams and brother Gillum need must sep forward and stay the course - They have not conceded and neither will we. Kemp should be disqualified because of conflict of interests and having hands in the illegal purges to begin with -
That said, I want to note that October is perhaps the most difficult month for me because there are literally 17 birthdays in my family. Generally I make it through - but it hit me with a twist - a parting shot that saw two friends make their transitions to the realm of Ancestor/Angel - Ntozake Shange and Zach Husser - so October was bitter sweet.
November found me rushed and pushed - we had the Mid-Term Elections - So Glad it's over, and the preparations for the beginning of the Holiday Season -
Yup! Here we are - and there are already a zillion events coming up. So get ready - this is only a few of the many relevant things you might want to check in out.
Are you ready?????
BEFORE WE GET INTO THE EVENTS THEMSELVES, I AM GOING TO TAKE A POINT OF PERSONAL PRIVILEGE TO ALERT YOU ALL - PHILADELPHIA, NEW YORK, DC, MD, DE, ETC. THAT
NACA IS COMING TO PHILADELPHIA AND WILL BE AT THE PENNSYLVANIA CONVENTION CENTER HELPING YOU WANNBE HOME OWNERS REALIZE YOUR DREAM- This is an opportunity to own your own home with NO DOWN PAYMENT, NO CLOSING COSTS, MORTGAGE BELOW PRIME - NOT PREDICATED ON YOUR CREDIT SCORE, BUT ON YOUR CHARACTER - i.e. that you pay your bills on time - GET ON THE BUS, TRAIN, CAR POOL AND GET THERE - just like you would if you were going to a party, a concert, or a conference. This is life changing and epoch making - and levels the playing field for low and moderate income families who have been edged (pushed!!!) out of their communities by developers and predators - but it will only work if YOU SHOW UP!Don't sell yourself short, play yourself cheap, cheat yourself or your family out of a major opportunity - we are urging CHURCHES, ELECTED OFFICIALS WHO CARE ABOUT THEIR CONSTITUENTS, FATERNITIES, SORORITIES, PAN-HELLENIC COUNCILS TO CONTACT THEIR MEMBERS AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE IN PHILADELPHIA - YOU CAN CHOSE TO COME ONE EITHER DATE - FROM NOVEMBER 29 THROUGH DECEMBER 2 - 8:00AM - 8:00PM LOG ON TO www.naca.com and register - after you go through the Free Workshop, you can go to immediate same day decision with the lender and then move forward to purchase your 1-4 family home. DON'T BE ON THE LATE SHOW - Georgia had 10,000 families, Florida had 15,000 families - WAKE UP PHILLY - YOU NEED THIS MORE THAN ANYONE - See you there!! or find yourself GENTRIFIED OUT OF EXISTENCE - Got it???

The Expressions of Larry Brown
A Fine Art Show at the Bishop on Bedford Gallery
Saturday + Sunday: November 10-11, 2018 | 3pm-8pm
At long last, Brooklyn artist LARRY BROWN will have an art exhibition displaying his artistic talents using mixed-media. Come and enjoy this feast of beadwork, fiber and rope art, ink and pen drawings, and photography. Georgia-born and New York-raised, Brown has devoted much of his life to keeping the African tradition of bead work alive. As he explains it, beadwork came as a spiritual awakening through a series of dreams. “My inspiration came in a recurring dream that simply said, 'Do beads. Do beads.' After three such experiences, I built my first bead loom and never looked back.”
You will be amazed by the diversity, detail, and thoughtfulness of his art. Original pieces and prints will be available for sale. Visit his website for a sneak preview at www.ColorMyHoops.net
