GDW EVENT ALERT - KICKING OFF AUGUST - Can you stand it??

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Hello All:

There's a lot going on - and chief among them is HARLEM WEEK - which is actually Harlem Month - which kicks off Saturday, July 29 through August 25 - and is one of my favorite events because it showcases all the wonderful things we have and enjoy in Harlem.  It's been 44 years since it's inception by Lloyd Williams - and others who came together with him to extol the great things about Harlem, during an era when Harlem was getting bad press and people were writing it off as an undesirable place to live.  The event has grown from one block to the entire Village of Harlem and surrounding communities and a VIP reception at Gracie Mansion.  There's literally something for everyone - and you want to put on your walking shoes on and some way of carrying all that wonderful memorabilia with you!!!

Of course, you might want to have a commuter ticket between NYC and Philly - there is so much going on in both places - you will be hard pressed making a choice between the two.
