GDW Event Alert January 26 - February 18, 2018

By Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Hello All:

Well,  we have pretty much zapped through January faster than the speed of thought.  In the process, a few dear friends and stalwarts have made their transition to the realm of Ancestor Angel, leaving us to carry on and to support each other in love, respect and faithfulness.

This is literally my first GDW Event Alert of 2018. I apologize for that fact, given the fact that so much has transpired.  Hopefully the events that I'm listing below will be of interest and significance to you - and, by the same token, if you have events coming up that would be of interest and relevance to our ECLECTICALLY BLACK FAMILY, feel free to email me the information or link so that I can include it in upcoming editions.

This 22ndANNUAL DINNER TRIBUTE to the FAMILIES of our PPOWs is co-sponsored by the National Alumni Association of the Black Panther Party (NAABPP) with the theme, HONORING THOSE WHO SPREAD THE WORD: Our Revolutionary Griots.

Along with paying Tribute to our captured Freedom Fighters and their Families, we will also honor a few Movement media voices – Nayaba Arinde, editor of New York City’s Amsterdam News, Sally O’Brien, radio co-host/producer of WBAI’s Where We Live, Basir Mchawi, host of WBAI’s Education at the Crossroads, Solwazi Afi Olusola, DARA: Ancestral Beauty Photography and Ngoma, artist, poet and musician extraordinaire

These folks have collectively kept the community informed and enlightened about our PPOWs and their Families as they’ve struggled against a criminally unjust legal and prison system.

BEYA:  BLACK ENGINEER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2018
http://www.blackengineer.com/article/save-date-2018-beya-stem-conference/

This conference totally destroys the myth of the lack of Black intelligence and ingenuity - not only are Black engineers represented, but Black colleges that have enhanced their curriculum with cutting edge courses in technological design and engineering are also represented. It's a high school student's paradise to be courted by some of the best colleges; and college students to be recruited by some of the best engineering firms. If you are in DC, or if you are a HBCU looking to get underwriting for the development of their own technology and engineering departments
