Councilwoman Blackwell and Hon. Stanley L. Straughter to be Honored at Molefi Kete Asante Institute Awards  this  Sunday, October 8 at the  Annual African Awards Benefit Banquet being given by the Molefi Kete Asante Institute at 6pm. 

This year, our very own Councilwoman Jannie L. Blackwell and the Honorable Stanley L. Straughter will be honored. Please come out to support them and the mission and work of the Molefi Kete Asante Institute. Both Blackwell and Staughter have provided a lifetime of service and support to the African and Caribbean immigrants in Philadelphia, as well as supporting the interaction of African Americans and Africans in business, educational and other socio/economic ventures.  

This well deserved honor couldn't come at amore auspicious time - when Africa and African Americans, now more than ever, are beginning to unite and focus on their mutual interests throughout the diaspora.
