The Presidential Debates Are Over; President Obama Won! Now It's Time to Really Get to Work: MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSWOMAN YVETTE D. CLARKE
By Gloria Dulan-Wilson
I
know you have all been following with great interest the Presidential
debates between President Barack Obama and Mitt-Twit Romney. Now that
the last debate has been held, with a decisive victory under the
President's belt, it's time to go to the next level. We've got less
than two weeks until the national election takes place. And we have to
make sure we stay informed and keep our neighbors, relatives and friends
informed as well.
I just received this from Congresswoman Yvette
Clarke that should be of interest to you - especially those of us in the
New York City area, since we've been devastated by the redistricting
(read gerrymandering) that's occurred over past year and a half.
And
if you're fortunate enough to have Congresswoman Clarke as your
representative, or Congressman-to-be Hakeem Jeffries, or Congresswoman
Nydia Velasquez, in Brooklyn; Congressman Charles Rangel in Harlem;
Congressman Gregory Meeks in Queens - as well as other Black and white
Democratic congressional candidates either running for office or
re-election in other states. Not only are 23 SEATS UP FOR GRABS, we
want to make sure we send back those who are already incumbents as well.
We have double work to do RE-ELECT PRESIDENT OBAMA, AND GET A DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY IN THE HOUSE AND SENATE.
Congresswoman Clarke's message follows:
--- On Mon, 10/22/12, Yvette D. Clarke wrote: KNOW BEFORE YOU GO!!!
Dear Gloria:
We
are just two weeks away from the Presidential Election on November 6.
Clarke for Congress is reaching out to make sure our supporters and
constituents are prepared to go to the polls. First,
make sure you are properly listed in the voter registry. This is
especially important for folks who recently registered to vote. Check
your voter registration status at:
http://voterlookup.elections.state.ny.us/. Second,
make sure you go to the correct polling site. As a result of
re-districting, your polling site may have been changed. This is also
an important step for persons who have submitted changes of address to
the Board of Elections. Check for your polling place at: http://gis.nyc.gov/vote/ps/index.htm. If
you are registered to vote, but want to request an absentee ballot,
first ensure that you are eligible to do so. You are eligible to vote
absentee in New York if you are:
Inevitably absent from your county on Election Day.
Unable to appear at the polls on Election Day due to illness or disability.
A patient at a Veterans’ Administration Hospital.
Detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony
Oct. 30 - Last day to postmark an application or letter of application BY MAIL for an absentee ballot.
Nov. 5 - Last day to apply IN-PERSON for an absentee ballot.
Nov.
5 - Last day to postmark ballot. Must be received by the local board of
elections no later than Nov. 13. Military Voter Ballots must be
received no later than Nov. 19.
Nov. 6 - Last day to deliver ballot IN-PERSON to the local board of elections (by someone other than the voter).
This
is a very important election; don't let others decide your fate. Take
the necessary steps to ensure your franchise; volunteer for your
favorite candidates (I hope I'm one of them!); and on Election Day make
sure you take as many friends, family members and neighbors as you can
to the polls with you. YOUR VOTE IS YOUR VOICE!! Moving Forward Together, Paid for by Clarke for Congress
Now, as you already know, I, Gloria Dulan-Wilson,
am unabashedly part of the partisan press; I chose sides and have
opinions. It's for this reason that I have this blog. So there should
be no doubt in your minds that I support Yvette D. Clarke wholeheartedly
to be re-elected to Congress; as well as the election of Hakeem
Jeffries for Congress. These are Brooklynites.
But California, Florida, Chicago, and
other areas are also facing major challenges with redistricting as
well. The sum total is to decimate the long held majority African
Americans have held in their communities for decades.
It's
up to each of you to keep apace of what the changes are in your own
districts. With the move toward voter nullification being pushed by the
rep-ugh-blicans, we have to be twice as vigilant and twice as informed
as usual. Lines have been redrawn, polling places have been moved. Our
seniors may need transportation to the polls; or we may need to take
the ballots to them so they can likewise vote. This is the time to make
this happen, get the vans and drivers mobilized; bet the ballots to the
sick and shut in who would otherwise be able to vote, ahead of time so
they can be counted with the rest of the ballots.
If
you don't already have an organization you're affiliated with, in New
York you can check with Harlem4 Obama's Chet Whye
(chetwhye@harlem4obama.com); or Bedstuy For Obama (cornegyr@yahoo.com);
or www.ofa.org; moveOn.org; or check with your locally elected officials
to find out where you can volunteer your services. Churches can
assist by offering their vans to transport those who have difficulties
in getting around back and forth to the polls. This is the time when we
should all be pulling together to make sure that there are absolutely
no mistakes made.
We should definitely not take for granted the evil intent on the part of the rep-ugh-blican party (and the three Evil R's Rove, Ryan and Romney)
to deprive us of our civil, economic, political, and educational
rights. Like the brothers and sisters who stood up for us to make sure
that we have the right to vote, it's up to us to stand for ourselves and
defend our rights to vote across the board.
When the announcement says 'VOTE LIKE YOUR LIVES DEPEND ON IT" you had best believe, it does.
Pass
the info from Congresswoman Clarke on to friends, family, associates
and enemies. And make sure that when November 6,2012 comes along, you
each have 1 undecided person with you going to the polls to vote for
President Barack Obama.
Time for the real New York City Lincoln University Alumni to Stand Up and Show Up!.
By Gloria Dulan-Wilson
Now,
as many of you know, I am a proud graduate and alumn of Lincoln
University, PA - the first Black University in the United States. There
are times when I brag on LU to the point of being obnoxious. And I
suspect that there are others among us who share the same sentiment.
Lincoln
University is the only Black College on the east coast, north of the
Macon Dixon line. It was founded in 1854 - even before the Civil War
was fought - and before the Emancipation Proclamation. Originally named
Ashmun Institute, it was renamed Lincoln University in 1866 after the
assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.
Such icons as
Thurgood Marshall '30, first Black Supreme Court
Justice; Langston Hughes '29 poet, philosopher, playwright; actor
Roscoe Lee Brown '46; its alumni, among the most notable including
Hildrus A. Poindexter, '24, internationally known authority on tropical
diseases; Jacqueline Allen, '74, judge for the Court of Common Pleas,
Philadelphia; and Eric C. Webb, '91, author, poet and editor-in-chief of
Souls of People.
Lincoln has a Legacy of Producing Leaders - we
are the only Black college to have given Africa two (2) presidents:
Nnamde Azikewe '30 of Nigeria and Kwame Nkrumah '39 of Ghana, both of
whom were instrumental in liberating their countries. In addition to
having given dual doctorates to President and First Lady Jerry John
Rawlings and wife Nana Rawlings, who followed in Nkrumah's footsteps,
using many of the same policies to take Ghana to the next level. Other
notables are Rev. James Robinson, '35, founder of Crossroads Africa,
which served as the model
for the Peace Corps; and Sibusio Nkomo, Ph.D., '81, chairperson,
National Policy Institute of South Africa.
Lincoln's campus was
the playground for activist and NAACP icon Julian Bond, who grew up
there during the tenure of his father, Horace Mann Bond, who graduated
from LU in 1923. In his book, "Education for Freedom," Horace Mann Bond
writes: Lincoln University is "the first institution found anywhere in
the world to provide a higher education in the arts and sciences for
male youth of African descent." Bond served as Lincoln's 8th
president.
Historically speaking, it was against the law to each
Black men to read and write back in the 1800's - especially in the
South, where slavery was the widely practiced rule, rather than the
exception. Lincoln U was established by John Miller Dickey and his
wife, Sarah Emlen Cresson, for the sons of slave masters who wanted a
better life for their
offspring. They could have been hung for having established a similar
institution anywhere south of the Macon-Dixon Line. However, just
north of the Maryland Pennsylvania state line (near Rising Sun, MD,
which later became a KKK stronghold), Lincoln University, of the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, was originaly chartered in April 1854 as
Ashmun Institute, and will celebrate its 160th Anniversary in 2014.
The
Lincoln of today is surrounded by the rolling farmlands and wooded
hilltops of southern Chester County, Pennsylvania. When I was a student
it was located near the mushroom farming capital of the world, and
there were days when the scent of mushrooms was the most heinous thing
you could do to your nostrils. Our campus is located on Baltimore
Pike, about one mile off US Route 1 – 45 miles southwest of
Philadelphia, 15 miles northwest of Newark, Delaware, 25 miles west of
Wilmington, Delaware,
and 55 miles north of Baltimore, Maryland. We used to have regular bus
service between Philly, LU and Baltimore, via Greyhound bus; however,
somewhere along the line the routes were changed and the only way to the
campus is via private vehicle. Lincoln used to be known as the
"Black Princeton" because of its high educational standards. And, while
women started attending the school in the 1950's, it was still an all
male school until it became co-ed in 1965, when women were given their
own on-campus dormitories. There were more than a number of illustrious
alumns who did not like the concept of it becoming co-ed. The guys who
attended LU were, for the most part, natural born iconoclasts. They
were rebels in the rough and they liked it that way. They felt that the
lay out of the campus, away from urban convenience, was a test and
testiment to their manhood.
Just for the record,
meanstream PR machinations to the contrary, Lincoln has always been -
and will always be a BLACK college - international in scope, with
students from all over Africa, the Caribbean, and Black students from
all over the US.
Located in southern Chester County (near
Amish country), Lincoln is accredited by the Middle States Association
of Colleges and Schools and offers academic programs in undergraduate
study in the arts, sciences as well as graduate programs in human
services, reading, education, mathematics, and administration. The
University has always had a high quality faculty who set records in
their teaching, research, and service. In the past, such luminaries as
Dr. Charles V. Hamilton, author with activist Stokely Carmichael of
BLACK POWER, as well as the definitive book on the life of Adam Clayton
Powell, Jr., chaired the political science department, while at the
same time serving as legal counsel for SNCC
(the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee). So you might say that
Lincoln has always played a major role in the forward movement and
liberation of Black people both directly and vicarously.
According
their stats: "During the first one hundred years of its existence,
Lincoln graduated approximately 20 percent of the Black physicians and
more than 10 percent of the Black attorneys in the United States. Its
alumni have headed over 35 colleges and universities and scores of
prominent churches. At least 10 of its alumni have served as United
States ambassadors or mission chiefs. Many are federal, state and
municipal judges, and several have served as mayors or city manager;
housing coordinators, bloggers, and journalists (uh, me).
Now,
why am I spending so much time telling you all this? Why is this so
important? Because there appears to be a move afoot to make truly
Historically Black Universities and Colleges,
a/k/a HBCU's, a thing of the past. There's an ugly rumor going around
that they are no longer necessary. That, today, we can go to any school
there is. And, while that's partially true, it's mostly false.
It's
so ridiculous to think that were will ever be a time when Black
colleges are no longer needed, or important. Try telling Jewish
brothers and sisters that Yeshivas are no longer needed; try telling
whites that they no longer need both Yale and Harvard, or Princeton, and
they'll personally enroll you in the closest insane asylum. But,
somehow, when it comes to Blacks, people seem to think our culture,
heritage and future are disposable, and are only relevant vis a' vis
what the meanstream deems relevant. Well, it's one thing for outsiders
to think and feel that way; but it's another thing entirely if we
co-sign it. And by by the actions and words of many of our brothers and
sisters, they
seem to have drunk the koolaide that leads to self-destruction and
dis-integration.
Think about it for a minute - do you really
think that all of the cumulative culture, that has gone to make us who
we are today, will suddenly disappear in less than 40 years? All of our
HBCU's - Lincoln U/PA, Hampton, Howard, Dillard, Xavier, Florida
A&M, Morgan State, North Carolina A&T, Central State
(Wilberforce, OH), Langston U (Oklahoma), Tuskeegee, Bethune-Cookman -
to name a few, have been, and must continue to be the mainstain of our
educational underpinnings. The nurturing and mentoring afforded me, my
fellow students, and those who have come behind me(including my youngest
daughter, Adiya '03), have been the very backbone of what has moved us
forward. There would have been no Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood
Marshall, had there not been a "Goody" at Lincoln U. Incubator,
nurturer, inspiration - our Alma Mater has served us
well, and continues to do so.
Yet, we find so many of our
brothers and sisters not sending their off spring to Black colleges,
under the misapprehension that somehow they will do better going to a
meanstream college. They appear to be totally surprised when what
returns to them four years later, is totally devoid of character,
concern, or culture. Oh, they may do all right economically - but we
lose a generation that should have been a cohesive part of our continued
movement forward. Johnnie Cochran once said that most Black people
suffer from a concept that "the white man's ice is colder," as a result,
when it comes time to chose between our own, and theirs, we chose
theirs.
So this communique is to my fellow Lincoln Lions and
Lionesses, who live here in New York City, regardless of what year you
graduated, or what field you're in - and you know who you are - why so
silent? You have much to brag about, much to be
proud of. You have an amazing legacy of leaders to which you belong!!
I know that you're busy changing the world. But the New York
City Lincoln University Alumni Association needs you too. We are at a
major crossroads in the future of our Alma Mater. It's time to step up,
step out, and stick together. Please contact me, Gloria Dulan-Wilson,
as soon as you read this message. I'm posting it on my Blog because I
don't have everyone's email addresses (by the way, if you didn't go to
Lincoln, but know someone who did, please pass this on to them -
thanks). We need to hear from you immediately, if not sooner. Please send me the following info: Name (regular & Rabble):___________________________________________________________ Email Address: ___________________________________________________________________ Home Address: ___________________________________________________________________ Phone Number(s):

We
are on a tight timeline. As you know, LU's homecoming weekend starts
October 26. We have some pivotal business that requires your attention
immediately, so your response to this email by Monday, October 22, is
crucial.
We
have been blessed to have graduated from the grandmother of all Black
colleges, and to have the great good fortune to have some trailblazers
who keep setting the pace and raising the bar. Let's make sure there's a
Lincoln University for our children and their children and for
generations to come.
Let us hear from you and let's get busy. See you at homecoming weekend!! Hail! Hail!
LINCOLN!!

Thought
this would be of interest to those of you who had been asking this
burning question "is Mitt Romney mentally ill?", RMuse in Politics:USA
seems to have analyzed the situation and come up with the answer: YES.
In this instance I don't think I need to do anything but forward it to
your attention so you can stop doubting your instincts, and pat
yourselves on the back - individually and collectively - for having the
intuitive capacity to know abnormal when you see and hear it.
Read, respond and pass it on.
{Of
Course you realize that there will never be a photo of Mitt-twit Romney
on my blog - if you want to see him, you'll have to find a rock to look

Is Mitt Romney Mentally Ill?
By: RmuseOctober 15th, 2012
During an important election to decide the fate and direction of a
country, a voter is likely to consider a candidate’s consistency of
actions, values, methods, principles, and expectations, as well as
outcomes from previous experience in political office before supporting a
candidate. Many voters contemplate a candidate’s honesty and
truthfulness, or accuracy of actions, before deciding to cast their
vote, and few would choose a candidate renowned for lies and hypocrisy
because it defines the candidate as morally deficient with anti-social
tendencies.
Americans are witnessing a morally deficient candidate for
the presidency, and if it is not obvious by now that Willard Mitt Romney
is a pathological liar, a hypocrite, and deceitful in words and deeds,
it is about time his possible mental illness, Antisocial Personality
Disorder (ASP), is exposed to the American people.
An individual suffering from ASP
is calculating, manipulative, frequently charming and alluring, and
fits the clinical portrait matching depictions of con artists and
predators found in literature, and is masterful at using machinations of
a criminal who fails to conform to social norms with respect to lawful
behaviors.
Some criteria psychologists use to diagnose ASP are
deceitfulness, as indicated by repeatedly lying, conning others for
personal profit, and lacking remorse or rationalizing having caused
harm. Besides persistent lying,
Romney demonstrates an innate inability to care about harming others
borne out of narcissism, elevated self-worth, and a sense of extreme
entitlement and cannot tolerate authority figures. If these criteria
seem suspiciously similar to convicted felons and life-criminals, it is
because over one-third of the prison population suffers from different
degrees of ASP and, like Romney, they have a childhood history of the
disorder.
Over the course of the campaign, stories of Willard’s childhood
bullying and disregard for people other than himself abound, and besides
chasing and holding down a gay classmate and cutting his hair, there are other instances of his disregard for others. Romney’s impersonating a police officer
is not just a prank, and victims of Romney’s faux law enforcement
attention may have a different opinion of his behavior that contradicts
the portrait of the squeaky-clean Mormon boy.
Indeed, Romney carried his
disregard for young Americans into college when he protested in favor of sending young men to fight and die in Viet Nam while his “religious” deferments allowed him to luxuriate in a French castle while he proselytized French people into his cult.
Willard carried his disregard for other people with him to Bain Capital where he repeatedly lied and conned unwitting companies and shareholders into believing that, under Bain management, their firms would flourish only to end up in bankruptcy
as Romney and his partners pillaged their assets, shuttered businesses,
and raided employee’s pensions all for personal profit.
Romney’s
narcissism drives him to claim he saved the Salt Lake City Olympics, but
he is remiss to give credit to the American taxpayer who funded his
efforts to the tune of $1.5 billion, and then destroyed records
to conceal malfeasance and cronyism related to his Mormon business
associates. He continued covering tracks at the end of his failed term
as Massachusetts governor when he charged taxpayers for wiping computers to conceal internal correspondence, and his bankruptcy gang
repeated the cover-up practice by destroying books and records in the
eToys bankruptcy between 1999 and 2001.
Old habits die hard, but
especially when they are borne of a cognitive disorder like ASP.
Romney’s narcissism informs his fallacious contention that he “retroactively retired” from Bain Capital in February 1999 despite SEC and FEC filings
clearly showing he was CEO until 2002, and his blatant disregard for
the law allowed him to assume that because he is Willard Romney, federal
and state law enforcement officials dared not challenge his contention
that he lied on disclosures.
Recently, Romney displayed his belief the
law did not apply to all Americans equally when a mine owner who forced workers to lose pay to stand with Romney at a rally contacted Willard for help after a complaint filed with the FEC and Ohio Democrats alleged “extortion, money laundering, racketeering,” to which Romney responded “We get a lot of charges, this will go away.”
It was a telling statement that reeks of an organized crime boss used
to influencing investigations to avoid prosecution, and not something an
upright businessman, or candidate for president, would cavalierly
utter.
Throughout the campaign for the presidency, Romney has distinguished himself as a master of mendacity, and boasts that his wealth qualifies him to “run” America as a company
Bain Capital is preparing to pillage for Romney’s personal profit. His
persistent lying conceals his well-laid plans to eliminate funding for
myriad programs that help the least fortunate Americans to fund tax cuts
for himself, and informs a man devoid of compassion for others borne
out of an extreme sense of entitlement and elevated self-worth.
Romney may not express his dysfunction the same as a convict who shows disregard for others physically, but his willingness to destroy jobs while at Bain Capital,
or as president by eliminating entire agencies to fund his tax cuts, is
only a matter of degree. As a psychologist pointed out, sociopaths like
Romney do not think or act like normal people, and his aggression is
acted out on entire groups such as the 47% he considers parasites, or gays, women, and minorities. Romney has demonstrated he will do anything to succeed and everything in “the service of his own wishes”
and not what is good for the American people or this country.
Willard’s
biggest advantage to date is that it is incomprehensible that a
presidential candidate would resort to lying, obfuscation, and blatant
racism in his bid for the White House, and to a degree this falls on a
negligent press that is as aware of Romney’s anti-social behavior,
record of entitlement and flouting the law as anyone, and yet they have
turned a blind eye to his malfeasance.
Perhaps Romney’s greatest crime is purporting to be a Christian to
appeal to the religious right. The crazy Mormon foundations and beliefs
notwithstanding, would a Christian lie as a matter of course, promote
pre-emptive war, cut funding for children, seniors, and Veterans in the
pursuit of greater tax cuts for himself? Willard Romney has given every
indication under the Sun that he harbors sociopathic tendencies on a
variety of levels, and as such, is not qualified or trustworthy to run
for the presidency much less win the election. Any reasonable human
being is revolted by a pathological liar, narcissist, and entitled
charlatan, so it is curious why any American other than Mrs. Willard
thinks he is qualified to be president.
It is true that a president has
to be something more than normal to handle the Herculean job of leading
America, but the idea of more than normal does not mean abnormal, and
certainly not a self-entitled narcissist displaying all the traits of a
dysfunctional antisocial sociopath with personality disorders
reminiscent of a third of the prison population.
Now for the record, I have
to close every article on my blog with something positive about
President Barack Obama. Normally I would let the contract of this
article speak for itself, but since there are so many out there who have
tendency to vacillate, I have to say President Obama on his worst day
is 100 times better than Mitt Romney on his best day; and, God will
continue to protect us from avaricious miscreants who would subvert our
country for their own greed and personal gain, and make sure that
President Barack Obama is re-elected to continue to lead us out of the
pit we were pushed into by Romney's cohorts.
But remember,
praying alone will not get Obama back in, voting is what will help him
win. So make sure you get out and vote for President Barack Obama's
re-election on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.

Okay, so it's about 4:30 in the morning, and I'm working on a project,
when this piece from RSN (Reader Supported New) comes across my computer
screen: "The New New Romney Is a New Kind of Mendacious Liar," by Charles Pierce, Esquire (which probably means the writer is a
lawyer).
As I'm reading the piece, and the comments that ensued, I
realized that this is yet another reason we have to stop just reading
the Post, Daily News, New York Times, and other meanstream publications,
and begin to be open and aware of some of the more indepth, analytical
tomes that are out there valiantly trying to keep us informed. RSN is one of many. National Memo is another.
Of course, I would be remiss if I didn't include among our Black
Press - Daily Challenge, Afro Times, New American, Amsterdam News, Carib
News, Our Times Press, Black Star News, African Sun Times, as well as
the
Blogs and bloggers, including: gloriadulanwilson.blogspot.com,
Eduadvocate, Chris
Stevens, Curtis Moore, Bruce Barnes, BlackList Pub - among others, who are constantly
working 24/7-366 - to keep you updated, informed and debumked of
constant garbage that you are being bombarded with, via the meanstream
press. Millions of dollars are being poured into the meanstream media
by
the likes of Karl Rove and the Koch boys to spin, lie, distort, cover
up what's really going on. Including phony surveys and statistics to
make you think Romney is leading, when it's patently untrue. {By the way, when was the last time a pollster called you to ask you who you were voting for? Think about it.}
That said, I thought it constructive to extrapolate some of the
information in this recent RSN article "Romney is a Mendacious Liar," to shed some light on the latest ploy in
camp MITT-TWIT, that seems to have gained currency in the meanstream. I
think it may give us some additional talking points should we happen to
come across the likes of Stacey Dash, Ice-T, or other quizzlings, who
don't have the faculty to discern fact from fiction.
{Note:
I had the clever idea of highlighting my comments in "Big Bird Yellow"
for emphasis- but I think I'll drop that in the future.}
I've even looked up the word "Mendacious" for you, so those who feel
it's too difficult a word to convey, will be able to break it down for
them. Used a real dictionary, Funk and Wagnalls, with real pages, too.
MENDACIOUS (men-day-shus): Addicted to lying; characterized by deceit, lying, falsifying. It connotes a person who lies just for the sake of lying, even when he
could have, and should have told the truth from the beginning.
I'm
pretty sure that should be a new word on Sesame Street
. In fact, they can fashion a new character around that word, in the
form of Mitt-Twit Romney and call him "Mr. Mendacious," Maybe even have
his nose grow every time he tells a lie - oh, wait; that's already been
done, hasn't it? .
Mr. Pierce continues: " Let's break down The
New New Romney, shall we?" and goes on to say that Romney's wife, Ann,
and the five Romney boys, can be credited with this new, more humanoid
form of Romney. "The family pushed for a new message, putting an emphasis
on a softer and more moderate image for the GOP nominee - a "let Mitt
be Mitt" approach they believed more accurately reflected the looser,
generous and more approachable man they knew.".
And, in a humorous aside, he quips: "(We interrupt Afternoon Story Hour to bring you this
important announcement from the blog's Emergency Hogwash System: Is the
argument here really that Romney has abandoned "generic promises to do
better"? Really? More on this as events warrant.)" - it was sooo cool, I had to leave it in.
Paraphrasing here, Mr. Pierce states: "That {MITT-TWIT} Romney is a preposterous candidate for
either party to run, three years after his general social and economic
class {a/k/a THE REP-UGH-BLICANS} nearly burned down the world economy, always was a given. That, in
the intervening years between his two presidential campaigns, {MITT-TWIT
Romney really has become {AN EVEN BIGGER} quite a remarkable liar, is something to which
we all should have become accustomed by now. (It certainly shouldn't
have startled {SURPRISED} the President as much as it obviously did last week.)
You know, when it
comes to these kinds of tactics, President Obama should always be
cautioned to think Machiavelli, and also remember, that the
Rep-ugh-blicans have the faculty to dazzle the public with their
bullshit. In fact, remember that load of crap Bush one came out with:
"A thousand points of light high on a hill..". Really??? Of course,
Bush 2 went him one better, and just wholesale had votes dumped into the
ocean in Florida (before then, the only "Chads" we knew were a country
in Africa, and an actor), and then bribed a Republican-dominated Supreme
Court into giving him a presidency that he did not win.
Never under estimate
the levels to which these guys will stoop to bamboozle the American
public; or to wholesale deprive them, when the lies don't work. But
sometimes it backfires,as it did when the MITT-TWIT threatened to
destroy PBS; and then Rove and his henchmen go into action, spreading
money like manure;b feverishly working to quell the tide of Americans
who are now ready to open up a can of whip ass of their own on Romney
for threatening Big Bird, and Sesame Street. -
Per Pierce: "That
he {MITT-TWIT} would attempt to "pivot" away from the stances he took to win the
Republican primaries, was as inevitable as the dawn...he is
running a "post-truth" campaign...when... Rick Perry asked him about the
undocumented immigrants who once trimmed the hedges at the Romney family
manse, {he responded} "I'm running for office, for Pete's sake, I can't have illegals."
"This is not just lying or fudging or flip-flopping,
although it contains elements of all of these. It is the same impulse
that has fueled his (apparently successful) refusal to disclose fully
his tax returns. It is the same impulse that led him to say what he did
in the debate about his health-care plan and pre-existing conditions,
and then have his campaign dispatch Eric Fehrnstrom to the spin room to
declare precisely the opposite...."
"All candidates soft-pedal
positions that they feel might cost them votes. (Romney's running mate - {PAUL RYAN
- a/k/a LYIN' RYAN} is something of a past master at it.) All candidates lie, or fudge, or
flip-flop with ... in order to win an election. But
what {MITT-TWIT} Romney is saying to the electorate here is so deeply,
profoundly cynical that it seems to me to be unprecedented. In essence,
this is what he's selling to the country.
"I'm not giving you specifics because I might lose the
election, and I'm telling you that right up front so you can make it
part of your calculation about voting for me. If I tell you what I'm
going to do, you will vote against me. I know that. You know that. We
are in agreement that, if I lay out my policies in clear and unambiguous
language, you will not vote for me. If I tell you explicitly that, yes,
your mortgage-interest deduction is going up the spout so I can shovel a
few zillion more quatloos toward the Pentagon, nobody who owns only one
house ever will vote for me. So, no, I'm not going to tell you what
loopholes will be closed. For that reason, and that reason alone, I am
declining to tell you what I will do as your president.
"I am
not refusing to do this because circumstances in office may make me go
back on what I have promised. I am not George H.W. Bush. I am not
refusing to do this because I have no clue what I will do if I win. I am
not George W. Bush, either. I am doing this because my policy ideas
will make me {even more} unpopular and therefore, I am not going to share them
because the opposition may use them to say mean things about me and help
me lose the election. We all are in agreement on that. I am not
required to do anything that might jeopardize my chances, and that
includes telling you people what I will do if you elect me, because I'm
running for office, for Pete's sake."
(We should have seen this coming when Ann Romney made pretty much the same
point about the campaign's now-apparently-successful refusal to release
any more of the candidate's tax returns, saying that they'd given "you
people" all we needed to know, and that there would be nothing else
released because to so so would provide "more material for attack." And,
my dear young man, that simply is not done.)
Pierce further states: " Fehrnstrom's famous "Etch-A-Sketch" moment was of a
piece with this, too: 'Yes, everything we've said is to truckle to our
crazy-ass base, and everybody knows that is the case, so, when we
completely reverse our positions two or three times before November, we
will be engaging in clever campaign tactics that you should all applaud,
being basically a nation of Politico reporters." Apparently, announcing
your dishonesty in advance is now the highest form of political
integrity. {NOT}. " I've lived through two Nixon campaigns, and Reagan's
image-only 1984 re-election extravaganza, and Lee Atwater's race-baiting
efforts on behalf of Poppy Bush, and the two Karl Rove-scripted rodeos
that elected a C-Plus Augustus, and I can honestly say I've never seen the
profound combination of blatant mendacity and obvious cynicism that is
the Romney campaign at this particular historical moment.".
One commentary suggested we send Romney bottles of Ex-Lax; however,
since Ex-Lax is supposed to solve constipation, let me recommend that we
send him massive cases of Kaopectate instead. He even furnished the
address: Romney for President; P. O. Box 149756; Boston, Massachusetts 02114-9756; and further stated:
"If
you agree that this a good idea, please email this message to your
friends so that as many people as possible see it. At the same time you
mail a package {of Kaopectate} to Mitt, I suggest a donation of equal value to the Obama
campaign at www.barackobama.com. "
That said, I suggest you go on line and check out RSN; and at the
same time, for African American New York Locals, to not have a copy of the Black
publications in your hands at the same time you're reading the Post
(owned by Rupert Murdoch), or the Daily News or the New York Times, is
just pure d. ignorant. The only way you get the balanced truth as it
effects you in the Black community is to read what we are working so
hard to get to you. Perhaps if Stacey Dash read the L.A. Sentinel, she
wouldn't have sounded so CLUELESS and ignorant about what's happening in
and around the Black community. Somebody give that child
subscription, please.
I don't know if you've noticed, however, that BET and CENTRIC
are not carrying the Presidential Debates on either night!!! What's up
with that. We can do with a little less Hip Hop Awards, and a lot more
relevancy to the Black Community. After all, we are "subscribing" to
you. T.J. Holmes is cool; but we still need to be apprised as to what's
really happening in our Black communities. As much as I love the classic shows, we are still living in
2012. So, let' do a "must-carry" and get the debates on. In case you
hadn't noticed: PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA IS BLACK ! And so are 99% of your viewers.
Show me a Latino Station that would not have their candidate front
and center 24/7-366. Get with the program. You owe it to your millions
of Black viewers. Thank you

REMEMBER: VOTE FOR PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2012
Fellow
Blogger Curtis Moore emailed me a link to an article that appeared in The Blaze on actress Stacey Dash, who put her
foot in her mouth, all the way up to her knee caps, when she said she
was voting for Mitt-twit Romney for president instead of President
Barack Obama. As usual, my comments are in red:
"Less
than two days after she was bombarded
with hateful messages on Twitter because she publicly endorsed
GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, actress Stacey Dash, perhaps
best known for her starring role in Clueless,
sat down with Piers Morgan on CNN to discuss the fury that ensued
following her seemingly innocent tweet.
“Vote for Romney. The only choice for your future. @mittromney
@teamromney #mittromney #VOTE #voteromney,” Dash posted on her
official Twitter
page, along with a photo of herself with an American flag.
"Morgan sarcastically introduced Dash on Tuesday as “the most
controversial woman in America” because “she had the audacity as
a black actress to vote for Mitt Romney.”
It's obvious that Ms. Dash has no concept or
understanding about the importance of the strives we've made through
history; she's obviously CLUELESS about the accomplishments President
Obama has achieved despite the machinations of the rep-ugh-blicans,
who are not only insensitive and greedy, but overtly racist, to
thwart his efforts bring America out of the economic and social
nosedive the Bush-Cheyney-Rove crew took us through for 8 years.
“When I read about this, I felt offended for you,” the host
added. “I don’t have a horse in this race. I’m British. I can’t
vote for anybody. But the idea that you as a black actress would come
under such venomous attacks purely because you decided to vote for
one of the two candidates is extremely objectionable.”
Dash, who is 47-years-ol but looks 20 years younger, explained
that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and she merely used
her platform to exercise her “First Amendment right as an American
citizen” to say who she was voting for.
Talk about shooting yourself in the foot,
obviously Ms. Dash has a penchant for self destruction, or she has no
regard for her own Black brothers and sisters. She talks about her
First Amendment rights, but apparently she forgot how her civil and
voting rights were obtained through blood, sweat, tears; with people
laying their lives on the line so she could be a part of movie like
CLUELESS. Where was her mouth about wanting a change when Bush was
taking the country down the toilet. Did she really think Obama was
going to turn 8 years of neglect and greed around in less than 4
years? Can she possibly be that clueless? Or did she think her
stuff didn't stink? Or is it that she feels that she can thumb her
nose at her own people
"Surprisingly, Dash actually voted for Barack Obama in 2008 but she
has switched her vote because of the current “state of the
country.” Dash says she is ready for real change.want the next four
years to be different,” she added. “I chose (Romney), not by the
color of his skin but by the content of his character.”
Really,
Stacey. Really??? It's obvious you're a poor judge of character. The
content of Romney's character is so heinous you smell the sulfur as
soon as he enters the room. How many jobs has he developed for Black
people, or people of color (other than the sweat shops on foreign
shores?) Since when has what he's done, done anything good for the
people at large. Of course, if you're looking for some kind of
vicarious notoriety for taking an opposite tack from the rest of us,
while at the same time quoting Dr. Martin Luther King (who must be
rolling over in his grave for your abusing his statement). Apparently
the only character you understand is the one they scripted you for:
CLULESS.
"Dash said she really doesn’t understand why her tweet caused
such an uproar. She said she is “shocked” and “saddened” but
not “angry” about the unfair attacks against her, adding the
incident shows that we are not united as a nation.
The truth of the
matter is that we actually are united as a nation; she's the one
horribly out of step. Obviously she's not been affected by the Bush
policies, which caused massive economic downturns and stress, business,
home and job loss; apparently she's been hanging with a crowd, who, at
the very core, have so propagandized her to the point that she is not
only CLUELESS, but an embarrassment to both Black people and women.
"Morgan proceeded to read some of the nasty tweets targeting the
actress. “Kill yourself you old hag,” read Morgan, who later
called the messages “very disgusting.”
“That’s a little harsh,” Dash agreed." (Yeah
- I agree too - we do have freedom of speech here; so no matter how
much I disagree with her, I'm not looking for her demise.)
"The actress also revealed that vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan
has since reached out to her. She said Ryan told her she is brave and
that she has both his support and Romney’s."
Did
she read any of his policies or legislation? Does she have any inkling
as to who he is or what he stands for? Maybe she would like to take a
stand in behalf of Akin as well.
“I thought that was just so generous and kind,” she said. The
Obama campaign has not reached out to her."
To
do what? What does she have to offer? She has already shown she is
CLUELESS. Not that we don't have room for all walks of life in the
Black community. But they tend to have the good sense to not put their
CLUELESSNESS on display. It's called being discrete; it's called common
sense.
"As for other African-Americans who feel personally obligated to
vote for Obama because he is black, Dash advised them to do their
“homework. Do your homework. Look at your country. Think about the next
four years of your life,” she said. “Also, look at Mitt Romney’s
track record. As a CEO, he has excelled. As governor of
Massachusetts, he did quite well. And listen to what he says — I
believe him and I believe he deserves a shot.”
Actually,
she
has to do her homework. Obviously she is uninformed, misinformed, and
otherwise CLUELESS about what President Obama, First Lady Michelle
Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, and the rest of the cabinet have
accomplished in bringing America back from the precipice of destruction.
Speaking about shot, she has so shot herself in the foot with her mouth
and her tweet - showing that she is a Mitt-twit par excellence.
"Before ending the interview, Morgan told Dash that he defends her
right to “vote for who the hell you like.”
“The idiots who are tweeting you are… clueless,” Morgan
said.
Actually,
Piers, you were right in the first place, you really don't have a
nickel in this dime; you don't get to hand out invectives against people
who are righteously appalled that Ms. Dash is so CLUELESS that she
doesn't realize that her IGNORANCE is showing. How sad for her. And,
while she does have some "celebrity" status of sorts, she has moved
herself over to the "dumb blonde negro" category, where no one (at least
among us) will take her seriously, or respect her. In point of fact,
most of us feel it's a veiled publicity stunt to boost ratings she never
had, and most likely won't have after this. But, at least it did get
her on your show - so maybe that ploy worked after all - hmmmm!
And
Mr. Morgan should know that Ms. Dash is truly the CLUELESS one;
she was obviously perfectly cast even before we knew it. It won't be
the
first or last time, however, that publicity seekers have tried to stab
one of their own - i.e the Black community - in the back. Vocalist
Millie Jackson springs to mind, when she
decided to defy our boycott against South Africa, during apartheid,
and went to perform there, when other artists – Black and white – had
vowed to not do so until apartheid had ended. It was nearly 10 years
before she ever got to sing before an audience again. We stopped buying
her records, she stopped getting bookings. We shut her down. Never
under
estimate our solidarity.

PS: Just for point of clarification: Eclectically Black News for Eclectic Black People is basically inclusive of Black people from all mixes, accents, cultures, economies, geographies, philosophies - from the highest and best, and most positively empowering standpoint. And, while I certainly recognize that we are not all going to think, act, walk, talk or look alike, I do believe in an underlying philosophy that we do have to have each other's back, the way other ethnic and racial groups stand together for each other. And Stacey has crossed that line to the other side, as far as I'm concerned, into the realm of negro. For me, Black is not just a color, it's a state of mind, it's a quality and a philosophy - and we know it when we see it, feel it and display it. Stacey just went cullud on us. It's a good thing the rest of us are here to take up the slack, and stay truly, Eclectically Black. GDW PPS: VOTE TO RE-ELECT PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA, NOV. 6

Enjoy October - hope you got your rollerblades ready. There is so much to do - so much happening at the same time; and this is only 1/100th of what's happening at any given second of any day in little ol' New York.
